Thanks for a lovely stay while there for the Crufts Dog Show. Missed having the restaurant experience - would have preferred menu to buffet. Thanks to Rebecca for help prior to my stay and prompt response to my questions about amenities. Also, having to wait so long to check in was a problem for us since overnight travels required early check-in. Maybe next time??? Thanks again to all who made it very pleasant in spite of some of the drawbacks and I hope to be able to return next year.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Pandora28 Noisy room
There was a knocking sound in the cupboard in the room,it woke me up in the morning.I had intended to have an hour extra in bed however this was not to be.I asked a member of staff(cleaner) what it was as I was leaving my room to check out and she thought it may be coming from the safe or mini bar which was not sitting right.
The cleaners were really noisy as well,I could hear them in the next room moving furniture around.
There were hairs in the bath tub.

The room was lovely and so were the staff, Only thing about the room was it was a little cold but it was also cold outside and we had come in from a hot gig, We also needed to ring reception to bring another duvet up as my friend did not have one.
The Breakfast was dissapointing we were expecting more of a range and was not offered hot drinks and there was not much of a range for a full english breakfast,. We were left with cereal and apple juice and pastries and orange juice and fruit,
Staff were lovely with booking in and advising us about how to get to the LG arena. Also lovely with booking us a taxi and letting me back into the room when I realised I have left my phone behind in the room once we booked out.
Would stay here again if I needed too, We won our overnight stay so I cannot comment on the prices.

Only bad feedback is the priority checkin desk was not manned and waited 10 minutes before main reception noticed, as non priority guests were checking in.
The 1000 points x2 were not allocated to account for online booking, shame as lets the experiene down when hotel advertise on net 1000 per night
Room excellent,, and members of staff so professional. Great service and a pleasure to stay in this hotel
Would recommend this hotel always.
It would be nice to see the bonus points addd tough lol

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Robbo9999 Empty Restaurant, but was still told had to wait till after 9pm
This is the first time I've stayed at the Crowne Plaza NEC, I usually use the one in Birmingham City Centre. Unfortunatley my stay was overshadowed by poor service from the restaurant department. A colleague and I went down to get some food from the restaurant at 7:30pm. We were told that the restaurant was expecting two large groups in the next 15 minutes and that we wouldn't be able to be seated until after 9pm - there was a flat no, not even we can seat you but your food might be a while (which would have been fine) Even with the two supposedly 'large' parties that the guy on the restaurant desk advised were coming in the restaurant was at best 1/3 full. Why would you have that number of tables if your kitchen can't cover them all? After the flat refusal from the man at the restaurant we went to complain to reception, who again stated that we couldn't be served until after 9pm. We eventually spoke with the food and beverages manager, who managed to find us a table in the restaurant, and we sat down to eat at 8pm. By 9:30pm we were finished and out. What I fail to understand is why a hotel situated near an airport, which claims to cater for business guests is so inflexible with its restaurant given that people could be arriving at lots of different times. The food was good when we finally got it, but I'd be really reluctant to recommend this hotel to anyone.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by James2013 Well located trade fair hotel
- well located to reach the NEC by walking and also Birmingham is easy to reach by train
- breakfast ok
- hotel facilities and staff were badly prepared for the amount of guests being present during our stay
- partially unfriendly staff
- waiting hours in restaurant: 1,5hours - to get food: 1,5hours as well

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by jw47 Bad experience
Despite several days of snow, the car park at the Plaza had not been cleared and there was no evidence of any salting. The overspill car park was extremely bad and had no separate exit which meant that I had to put sacking under my tyres in order to be able to reverse out of the heavy snow.
When I finally managed to get parked, I asked the staff whether the car park would be cleared in the morning. They told me that there was a function going on and that the situation would be better tomorrow which was not the question that I had asked at all.
I was pleased to be greeted as a Platinum member but disappointed that for the second time, despite the welcome letter offering me a bottle of wine, that had not been left.
To crown a disappointing stay, my visit did not get registered on my Priority profile for which I can see no excuse.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Donnysgirl Lovely hotel & good location
Love staying here when visiting Birmingham for shows. Just a few minutes walk to LG Arena &/or NEC. Even good for Birmingham as you can hop on the train for a short ride into the city. Rooms have everything that you could need. Good bar and restaurant.
My one gripe is paying £10 to park when I'm staying as a resident. When people can visit the restaurant and get free parking - when mentioned that I'd ate in the restaurant and drank at the bar free parking for me was not an option.

I stayed at the Crowne Plaza at the Nec for a concert. You could not fault the hotel. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The room was very nice and the bed was comfortable. Should I have to attend a concert the NEC again would certainly stay there again.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by ChrisF99 Comfortable, nice touches and good service
Stayed for a couple of nights in January 2013 whilst visiting a show at the NEC. Having stayed last year at the nearby Hilton I can say that the Crowne Plaza was a lot cheaper and a litle bit more comfortable even though it has less facilities than the Hilton.
The room was comfortable with nice touches like complimentary bottles of water, chocolate mints, a relaxing pillow spray and even a couple of toweling dressing gowns (none of that at the Hilton!)
Bar area was pleasant and the staff were very attentive and friendly taking drink a food orders etc. Reasonable selection of bar and restaurant meals if you want to pay the usual bonkers hotels prices and there was an excellent choice on offer for the buffet breakfast.
All in all I had a good stay and would recommend it. Only downside is the £10 per night parking charge although I was aware of that when I booked. Seems like you can't park anywhere cheaply at the NEC these days!

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 A pleasent stay
Stayed in CP Birmingham Nec for one night on 16th Dec. Being PC member, check in was extremely simple. Reception had all keys cut, wifi passwords etc all ready in envelope; much appreciated.
Gym in hotel is very limited in equipment as tends to be on most airport hotels.
Hotel was very quiet, even for an airport hotel, but didn't take away from the stay. Staff extremely helpful and friendly.
Menu in the bar was a little heavy on the burger/chips/grill front, not really much in the way of lighter fare; chicken, pasta.
Enjoyed the stay, would definately stay again. Good value for money and close to where meeting was.

My husband and I stayed in your hotel for four nights in January. Although we booked a double room, we were given a twin room with two beds which we were not happy about. To cap it all, the first day we didn't get a wakeup call at 7am which meant that we were late for an important meeting. As we didn't have a meeting on Saturday, we asked for the wakeup call to be at 8am but still had it at 7am which wasn’t very cleaver! On the same day, although our beds were made, our bathroom wasn't cleaned and we weren't given any clean towels or toiletries. The fridge was not working during our entire stay, although we reported it on a numerous occasions. However, we found the staff really charming.
When we come to the NEC, we have a chose but we always stay at the Crowne Plaza but I am not so sure that we will do so in the future which is a pity!

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by RHRIX Another good stay in this hotel
As usual, the staff looked after me very well.
Only issues were no large towels in the room on the first night - managed with the two small ones.
There was a problem with the draft beer system on my second night so no Guinness, which is usually excellent, had a bottle of Newcastle Brown instead!

Booked a concert package. Restaurant food very poor quality.Had to wait for plates to arrive which had obviously just been washed and were still wet and stone cold.Complained to staff who apologised but that just seemed like the stock answer.Buffet breakfast much better.Room seemed "tatty".-Air condition control hanging off the wall. All the group we were with agreed they would not stay there again.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by veggiebikerdude Filthy bedding, inedible food
I was staggered to be told this is a 4 star hotel. The bed linen was stained and holey. The bed cover had recent disgusting stains on (like dried hot chocolate...), The room was cold. The staff took 45 minutes to bring me a heater. The A/C "pinged" like an alarm every few seconds all through the night. The light in the wardrobe wouldn't turn off, regardless of what I did. In the restaurant, the staff could not describe what was in the food on the menu, and the soup I ordered was so salty it tasted like it was made from seawater. In the morning I was told that my booking did not include breakfast, in a loud voice in front of other guests, despite this not being the case. They were looking to charge a fortune for wifi, despite it being free at the Holiday Inn Express (same hotel chain) the night before. SHOCKING.
In their defence, the staff at reception were very surprised and very apologetic when i checked out, and gave me my room for free, despite my insistence that they charge me. However I work on a "once bitten, twice shy" policy with hotels, and I will never choose to stay there again.

Crowne plaza is an attractive and clean hotel.
Reception failed to order a taxi or the newspaper we had requested.
Reception repeatedly quoted £20 as the fare to the city centre which was £30.
Reception were unhelpful when they insisted a movie package had not been cancelled before use and fairly unbelieving, R and his manager on Sunday 9th dec.
Front of hotel inacessible by foot from NEC.

Excellent location if you are going to the NEC, LG Arena. Had no problems parking and the walk to the arena took about 4 minutes. It was great to walk back to the hotel and have a relaxing drink in the bar after our concert. Room service food was excellent and the staff very friendly. Fantastic choice for breakfast - didnt know where to start!
One small point to mention we were charged an extra £10 for parking on check out. Whilst not too expensive for the convenience (it costs £8 at the standard arena car park, and the Ibis charge £16), it would of been nice to have been pre-warned!
All in all, an excellent hotel to stay at.
