Brilliant Bruges

Just returned from an amazing stay in Bruges. I organised a surprise 50th Birthday for my partner and was joined by his parents and brother. The hotel was the jewel of the weekend as everyone slept well and felt comfortable in the hotel public areas. We were treated very well on arrival and checked into a newly refurbished room...there is nothing more to say apart from it was top class and suited all our needs!

I would recommend this hotel in the future.

Poor experience

when we arrived we were informed that building work was taking place between 8.30 & 5 each day. We were advised that this shouldn't be too disruptive as most of the noisy work had been done the previous week. We were also told that our room was one of the renovated ones. Unfortunately the noise began at 7.30am each morning and was right above us. We brought this to the attention of a member of staff on our first morning and were advised that notification of the work was on their website and that most of their customers are business people who leave for work by the time the drilling started. Not a helpful response we when you're on holiday. Overall the hotel was not a 4 star standard. The renovated room was shabby, not well appointed, for example you could not view the tv from the bed due to how it was positioned. The towels were thin and worn and the bedding was ripped. The breakfast was poor quality and not replenished quickly enough and so some of the food was cold. I would expect to be served tea and coffee in a four star
hotel instead of having to queue at a drinks machine at breakfast. The pool area was small and outdated with plastic chairs that were very uncomfortable. The drilling could be heard throughout the day in the spa area. We were offered 'compensation' of points for the reward scheme that we are not even members of and were told that no refund could be given as we had not booked directly with the hotel. Overall a very poor and disappointing experience although Bruges is beautiful. Just make sure you stay somewhere else.
