1. Checked in early on a Sat afternoon & walked through a corridor of empty rooms being serviced to find my room on the lowest floor, furthest from the lift, directly overlooking the casino roof so that I can listen to the loud club music while trying to sleep at midnight.
2. There is no discount rate for buffet breakfast or daily parking but "you can enjoy the (full priced) breakfast from 6:30 to 10:30am" as if that was a tremendous reward for being a priority club member.
3. The TV remote was missing in the room on check in. Promptly supplied one on calling the front desk. It can change channels & turn off TV, but can't turn it on (a new way of saving energy perhaps, but just as annoying as water saver shower heads).
4. Tried to drop by the hotel restaurant at 7:40pm for dessert, but the dessert-only customers can only be seated after 8pm. Never mind that half the tables were empty at the time. Was asked if I wanted to book a table to be seated in 20 minutes (no doubt another priority member advantage). Declined the offer.
I have enjoyed my previous four stays at this hotel, but some screws have come loose over the years. I doubt I'll return to this place anytime soon.

Overall, a very disappointing experience. My wife and I stayed for three nights from Friday, 7th June, departing on Monday, 10th June. Saturday night in the dining room was a disaster with only one course of the meal delivered to us in 2 hours and 20 minutes after which we walked out in disgust. The only bright spot was the young lady who served our table and was most apologetic about what was happening. Her name was Anna. On Sunday morning our guests for breakfast ordered coffee which never arrived. Your establishment was recommended to us by friends and they were extremely embarrassed by our comments about our stay.

The whole experience would have been better had it not been let down by the service and poor WiFi in the lounge and none in the room!
The Dining room on the other hand was great, service and food quality exeeded expectations.
The Concierge was top class in that he went out of his way to assist with a Courier problem.

The location of the Hotel in the Canberra CBD is close to shopping and restaurants. While nearby buildings are being constructed you may like to prefer a room at the rear of the Hotel, looking out over the parklands.

I returned to Crowne Plaza Canberra again this week for a overnight stay. I have to say the staff (i cant remember the name)that did check out for me is the best so far at any IGH hotel. She was very professional, warm and caring. Only took her seconds to fix everything for me. She also asked me if I need some help with a taxi? there was a long line waiting for taxi at lobby, so I decide to walk to my meeting. I told her I will walk and she told me how to get there then she went away to get an umbrella for me because it was raining outside. what a wonderful staff member, Thank you!
Check in was fine, already checked in when I arrived. 5th floor room is pretty good. I was expecting a big bed but got twin beds. Never mind it was very comfortable bed and I had a good sleep. The only issue is TV remote control, it does not work properly. I tried all number house keeping, room services, reception and so on but no one answered my call. It was however nearly 8pm in the evening.
It was another comfortable stay and I will be back!

The room is great, I like to layout with desk and space for bags and then the bed facing out the big wide window. With good blockout curtains and privacy screen.
But the TV was old, didn't turn on. I had to pull the plug out whenever I entered the room, then press really hard on the remote to make it work, even then it was a little temperamental. The picture quality was also a little poor.
Bathroom neat, clean, useable and the iron clean and working well.

From the time I arrived till my departure, everything was excellent. My check-in was swift, superbly organised and the room was great - a great view over the park, comfortable bed and excellent service in all departments.
As a Priority Privilege member, I was treated no differently to anyone else - nothing was too much trouble.

We wanted to spend a long weekend in Canberra to do some sight seeing and the Crowne Plaza was the perfect place to base ourselves. The Hotel was amazing , great service , perfect ambience and an amazing buffet breakfast that kept us going till dinner.I would recommend the crowne Plaza to anyone going to Canberra

This hotel was within walking distance of the City. Very comfortable rooms and lovely buffet breakfast. Staff were very friendly and helpful especially the concierge.

Firstly, I had emailed IHG prior to travelling as we had 3 Crowne Plaza reservations for this trip and prefer to sleep with a blanket not a doona. Whilst this request did not go through to any of the hotels prior to our arrival; Melbourne immediately sent housekeeping up to make this change for us. When advised/requested, Canberra only came to the room during our absence and left a blanket on the bed but did not remake it so we had to drag the doona off and remake the bed. Also, the mattress on the first night was so uncomfortable (it transferred every partner movement resulting in a very disturbed night) that we asked to be moved for the second night - which was much better (the room had 2 beds).
Otherwise, other services and staff were good ... but overall ..?

i stayed first time at this plaza and was surprised with quality of service. Only downside was the room gets hot for no reason and had to start the air con sometime. Overall, great experience and will be back soon.

Have stayed at the Crowne Plaza many times over several years. I find the location convenient with easy walking access to the City Centre, short drive to Manuka and Kingston as well as places like Belconnen for Canberra stadium. Staff are always courteous and helpful. Speedy check-in and check-out. Delicious food served through room service. And most importantly, a big comfy bed to rest your head.

I love staying at the Crowne Plaza in Canberra. The staff, especially on the oncierge desk, treat me like family.
Quiet and restful. Excellent for business customers.
Food very expensive especially room service. My one gripe.

The bed wasn't comfortable and the water supply was disrupted during the afternoon.
Even though there was a notice but if I am paying top dollars to stay at crown and not some cheaper hotel, this is something I don't expect.
I was intending to stay at Crown for 8 weeks in a row but I not I am forced to reconsider my plan and change my hotel bookings for the next few weeks to come.

We rang reception concerned because the shower in the room next door appeared to have been running for hours & we thought perhaps somebody had become ill or had a fall. Reception told us that the room next door had a shower problem & asked if we could hear it from our room. we could not sleep with the shower noise constantly running therefore they offered to move us. we were all ready for bed & had to get dressed again & pack up our bags & move to another room. I don't understand if they knew the room had a problem, why would you not check on the noise in the room next door before putting people in the room for 2 nights. i understand problem can arise but they already knew there was a problem.
just to add in the new room we found a dirty sock beside the head of the bed that did not belong to us so the room hadn't been cleaned completely.

Our experience at Crowne Plaza was above and beyond. The Staff were always smiling, helpfully and friendly. They were fantastic with the kids, with little activity packs to keep them busy while dinner was coming.
Room service was fantastic, Crowne Plaza was always clean fresh and very welcoming. Facilities were great there too, kids enjoyed the pool. Such a great central location to walk to Canberra Centre etc. secure parking was well lit and tidy. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Crowne Plaza and so did the kids. We look forward to our next stay :)

This is a a v/good hotel in a great location only minutes walk from city center and all the ammenities. The staff are friendly and helpful.
Car Parking can be difficult on busy days so get back early.

I have been staying at CPCBR for a number of years, the experience has declined of late. On arrival check in was slow, two people on desk both with training badges on. Rooms keys handed in a DL envelope, none of the usual Platinum IHG/PCR benefits provided nor acknowledged in any way. Allocated one of the smallest rooms I have ever had at the hotel (always book same type). Hotel did not appear to be very busy or full judging by activity, space in car park and people at breakfast the next day. Breakfast selection has reduced, pastries lacked appeal. No newspaper in the morning, not even offered. Room keys stopped working a few hours after check in so had to have recoded. Bathrooms need an overhaul, the cold shower curtain is past its use by date. Good to see the guest lifts have had a freshen up. Room skirting boards very dusty. Check out was a better experience. Based on this and some negative changes made to PCR points earn since January 2013 it may be time to look for other options.

- front desk welcome upon arrival was underwhelming - unenthusiastic, flat and indifferent; person on desk made no effort to engage with us, was unable to answer basic information such as distance in time by taxi from hotel to a well-known tourist area
- concierge desk often unmanned
- room service request for an item did not eventuate; had to ring again after 20 mins only to find out that the room no had not been recorded
- beverage order in lobby arrived with no serviettes- had to go looking/asking

Very nice rooms with relaxing view, well laid out for relaxing and work. The hotel is located close to 'Civic", I came to appreciate this.
Always with a Crowne and Intercontinental hotel, staff are excellent; I was impressed enough to join the Ambassador programme in Jan from a trip to Sydney; was a good decision.
1 issue, the music in open area at night is loud and heard in rooms. Just needs to be turned down after 9:30.

we checked in to find our allocated room was unserviced,so needed to go back to desk to change rooms.Bathrooms were small with bath over shower,old style.Beds comfortable.Breakfast was very good and included in tariff .A little more colour in lobby area would lift it's first impression.Overall a good place to stay in central Canberra.
