Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by RandyDandy Friendly staff and wonderful meeting facilities
For my first visit to Chengdu for a conference, I was very impressed both with the friendly service given by the staff and the very special room that we had for the conference seating 120 in a true theater style. It was just perfect for our needs.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Fred218 Good service and cpmfortable pillow but Gym facility too old
The service provided was great. Staff helped me to achieve my goals. The room looks clean but the decolation was out of date. Especially some of the device in Gym was too old even without ipad/iphone adapter. The swimming pool is relative small.

The furniture and toilet fittings in the room need upgrading. Things are old and worn.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by SingapuRunner Location Is The Most Notable Plus
Very central. Close to Walking Street. Never too far from nearby shopping and eateries.
However, this central location does mean that the traffic outside the hotel is chaotic and during peak hours, do expect lots of traffic jam getting in and out of the hotel.
Average with the bare necessities, cleanliness and maintenance. No frills.
The first room I was given was quite horrendous. It was at the back wing of the hotel with window facing the local slum and old houses demolition.
The room was at the end of the corridor and upon nightfall, somehow the light along the corridor outside the room was really dim and gloomy.
The room door does not shut properly without pushing or pulling the door very very hard. Somehow that door has slanted within the door frame and the scratch marks on the edge of the door is evident that this issue has been around for a long time and being ignored to resolve.
When I first entered that room, the air-con ventilation grille overhead at the doorway was opened and it was not a pretty sight to look up the air-con vent in the ceiling.
Needless to say, I bolted out quickly out of this creepy room and asked for a change of room to a more central location nearer the elevator.
Do note that there is NO wireless wifi inside the room. Can't imagine this could still happen in this international hotel in the 21st century.
Right now, I'm a Gold Priority Club member. I do not have free access to the club lounge. I'm told to pay for it if I were to use the lounge.
The gym in this hotel is in the 2nd level of the basement; and obviously there is no view to look outside during your workout.
There are two treadmills and looking at the condition, I could tell that almost all the equipment (less the free weights) are very old and very used. (either that these may be used equipment when they first set up the gym that I was told underwent a recent renovation).
When I stepped on the treadmill, from the stain along the railing, the conveyor belt and electronic panel, I could guess that the equipment was not wiped clean by the attendants. Yuck.
There is a "swimming pool" at this basement gym. This is not your regular shaped pool and let alone of any distance to do your lap swimming. At best, this looks more like a jucuzzi or large bath tub. Definitely gave me the sleazy image that is not expected from a renowned hotel brand.
My recent stay in this hotel (Aug 2013) is my return stay since my previous visit about a year or more ago.
I questioned about the selection of the breakfast buffet spread and feedback about the lack of international fare. The spread then was very much meant for the local palate. At that time, the hotel manager responded to my feedback that this is something that is intentional and meant to skew towards mainly to the local.
This, to me, was a very bad response even though it might seem sensible.
Sadly, nothing has changed after one year. I stayed for two nights and I couldn't bring myself to the breakfast table on the second morning. I skipped that meal, altogether.
All in, unless I'm going from extra nights in my PriorityClub membership and there is no more room available in the other IHG hotel in this city ... I won't walk into this hotel again unless there are obvious improvement.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Eric1010 Not up to standard
Although the location is good, the property is getting old and need a complete renovation. The food was very oily and local, it is not what we would expect from a 5 star hotel. The price I paid for the hotel is about the same as I would if I stay at a new 5 star hotel. So it is poor value. I did not get a room upgrade when I check in with my gold membership. I asked for a late checkout which was refused flat out until I spoke to the manager again. It is not what you would expect from any other IHG hotel. I am truly dissapointed and moved out of that hotel the next day.

First time stay in this hotel at Chengdu (ZongFu Rd.). Reason of stay is business but should be staying at Intercontinental Century, but due to fully booked (Expo function), so move to this hotel....
The corridor (carpet) is full of bad smell... For those who doesn't experience them personally, the smell is like "chicken farm" .... The room is not even close to a 3-Star Hotel standard level it should be with the price.... Room is small, and like a budget hotel.....
I believed this hotel not only old but without proper maintenance like a 4/5 Start Hotel should be...
Will not be coming back to stay in this hotel. Not even will recommend friends and colleagues to stay in this hotel....

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 A nightmare
Very bad feeling on this hotel as
(1) found no internet access in my room so have to change twice which spent me 1 hours.
As the staff to solve the problem but was informed that the IT people'd gone so have to wait until the second day.
It's proven that if the IT people could go back hotel, it was easy to be solved
(2# no wireless in the room
#3) try to get taxi to the airport but refused by the staff as he recommend another one. The driver asked me to pay 100 RMB but it always cost about 50 RMB

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Tony280 Awful Lobby
Room comfort, room service, and staff service maintain in good standard. But the Lobby atmosphere and appearance was awful due to doing decoration for a "wine fair". Workers, wine company staff occupied the whole lobby area and I even could not find a place to stand (not seated) to wait for my driver. The lobby appears similar to a 2 stars hotel.

The hotel is rather old, but the staffs are nice, Sichuan people, warm and hearty.
The managers behaved very dogmatically, showing higher respect to their own rules and regulations, very smart excuse, than to their guests.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by CEOnumber1 Highly disappointed
Whilst this is a perfect hotel for a night or two, it is just that. Do not stay here if your needs are anything more than a bed for the night. Me and my family came to this specific hotel because 1) they had an excellent buffet. And 2) they assured me that all rooms were interconnecting. Unfortunately, the lovely and well presented 'Flavors 2013 Spring' magazine neglects to mention that there are no buffets available for the entire month of February. In addition the only adjoining rooms that are available in the hotel belong to suites. I had two young children and so had no choice but to double our financial commitment late at night and re book a suite. The hotel were of no help whatsoever and seemed completely oblivious as to why I might need adjoining rooms. I have never experienced this lack of 'intelligence' in any hotel before. On the plus side, the suite and room were lovely. But certainly not good value. The staff need retraining. This is well below Crown Plaza standards.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by FrequentChinaTraveler Aging hotel
This hotel is about 5 years past due for a remodel. The rooms and facilities are showing great amounts of wear and it is difficult to consider this anywhere near a 5 star hotel, even for China standards. Check-ins take 2-3 times as long as any other hotel even with Club status and preprinted documents- staff just not very well trained. Because it was January there was only heat in the room and the window didn't open far enough to allow any air circulation. The room was around 27 degrees all night and housekeeping brought a desk fan in to try and cool things down to no avail. My next trip to Chengdu I will be staying somewhere else until this hotel has a major overhaul.
