Comfortable beds, clean, friendly staff.

We stayed at the Crowne Plaza - Clayton b/c my son's wedding reception was there. Everything was absolutely perfect! Our room was great. I would like to acknowledge Jammie at the front desk. I had the pleasure of dealing with her on several occassions and she was always so pleasant, friendly and professional.........all at the same time. She is a great person to have at the front desk to greet guests. First Impressions are always the best. And Brenda.........another outstanding personality. She was so kind and helpful when I called her to arrange the 'late night snack.' The only complaint I have was that, at the end of the wedding reception, I asked one of the waiter's if he would put the left over Ted Drewe's ice cream in the freezer and I would get it in the morning after I checked out. #We had Ted Drewe's ice cream brought in as the late night snack.# He said the kitchen was closed and everyone had left. I knew that was not true b/c there were still waiters and waitresses cleaning up and going into the kitchen as I stood there. I think I was so disappointed b/c up to that point, everyone had been so accommodating. All and all, though, I would do it all over again. Thanks for the absolutely wonderful experience and great memories!!

Not Impressed

I recently stayed at the Crowne Plaza in Clayton and the whole experience was less than desirable. The whole hotel is old and run down looking. The carpets are filthy, the lighting is dim, and the layout is terrible. The main elevator was broken (which no one told us) so when we first arrived we had to take the side elevator up to the 7th floor, walk across a catwalk, and then walk down the stairs to our room on the 5th floor. By Day 2 of our stay, both elevators had broken and we were forced to use the either the stairs, which smelled terrible, or the service elevator, which made stops at all floors, including the kitchen and cleaning services floors. When we went to eat breakfast (the only good part of the stay) we were greeted by a woman who did not even say "hello" but rather barked orders at us to give her our meal vouchers. The whole stay was less than average and I would not recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a nice place to stay in Clayton. There are seemingly several better options. I hope this is not the standard for Crowne Plaza hotels, but I can't say that I will be trying another one out.

Great Hotel Staff - Bad restaurant Staff

Hotel was great for us, Hotel Staff OUTSTANDING. Resturant Server we had was aweful. Had dinner in the restaurant on 9-12 around 9:00 pm. Ordered an appetizer and 4 dinners, waitress asked if we wanted the appetizer out before dinner and we said yes please. We waited for our appetizer and was trying to get our waitresses attention while she was standing at the bar talking to another employee who was having a beer (she was off the clock I hope) and needed refills on our drinks. Never did look over and then went in the kitchen and then came back out about 15 minutes later with our entire order including the appetizer that we requested to come out first, put our food down and we said that the appetizer was supposed to come out first and she said well this is the way they did it in the kitchen and walked off. We had to get another waiter who was really nice and he said sorry your waitress had to do a room service delivery. We never saw her again and had to ask someone else for our ticket! Not a very good experience in the restaurant.

This Crowne Plaza Needs Work

We had requested a room with a king bed when we made our reservation online. At the front desk, we were told we had been "upgraded" to a suite. When we walked into the room we noticed that we had actually "upgraded" to a room with two queen beds.

This is the first hotel we have seen that uses fake wood flooring and no carpet anywhere making a hollow clicking sound when walking in the room. The room was so small you had to leave the room to change your mind.

Breakfast the next morning was in an outdated design with the food being okay.

Overall, the staff was pleasant and helpful.
The room was very disappointing.
