Good but not Great

Pillows weren't the best I've experienced with IHG. The executive level was nice, but I've never stayed at a Crowne Plaza where I had to pay for drinks on that level. The valet service was mediocre at best. I stood waiting for 15 minutes while a gentleman stared at me from the Enterprise counter. I went in to ask the front desk about the valet and the desk clerk came and got the same guy who had been sitting there staring at me! On my last night there, I went to bed about 11 P.M. And thought I smelled cigarette smoke. I woke up at 4:53 A.M. And almost couldn't stand being in the room cause the cigarette smoke smell was so bad. I went to the front desk to let them know, and the desk clerk didn't offer me anything for the inconvenience, and the security guard said there wasn't much he could do about. WOW! Poor customer service and disregard for the health and comfort of patrons.

My friend and I came to Columbus for a concert at Nationwide Arena. I looked on-line at hotels in the area because we wanted to be able to walk to and from the venue to avoid the parking hassle. The Crown Plaza was close and had good reviews on-line. We arrived early for dinner and the valet service here was excellent. The lobby was busy when we went to check in, but the staff was very efficient and things moved along quickly. Our room was very clean and the beds were comfy. Overall, it was a happy experience and we will certainly make a return visit to the Crown Plaza for our next Columbus outing!

Not a plesant stay

From the moment we arrived the stay had been ruined. My wife and I had arranged for an overnight babysitter for our three kids, the first time ever. We decided to get away for one night, two hours from our home so we could be close. I booked the room and we were off. We pulled into the valet parking, which was packed and eventually made our way to the lobby. The lobby was nice but filled with about 200 cheer teens and their families apparently just hanging out, everywhere. We were literally stepping over people to get to the desk. I looked at my wife, who is 6 months pregnant, and she didn't look happy. We made our way to the elevator and went to the fourth floor and our room. As soon as the elevator opened we were greeted by 50 more cheer teens and their families. They had set up camp in the hallway and were eating, playing games, and just being loud. Again we stepped over people to get to our room. Now even if we wanted to rest before going out there was no chance, so we made our way back through the lobby to the valet. I gave the valet my ticket and he proceeded to look for our key for the next 20 minutes. After watching him look through his pile of keys six or seven times I went inside to get the manager. The manager was very nice and found our keys within 15 minutes. So we have now been at the valet for over 30 minutes before they can even find our keys. 45 minutes after giving the valet our ticket our car came around. We had a great night eating and even went to the casino to loose some money. We arrived back after 2:30 to find the lobby not as packed but kids still up and running around. Our floor was also cleared out, although you could still here people in their rooms being very loud. We slept pretty well and awoke in the morning rested after not having to deal with three kids all night. my wife got in the shower and instantly noticed the tub was not draining, by the time she was done it was filled almost to her knees with her dirty shower water. I wanted to follow her in the shower but the tub was not draining. A full hour later the tub had not even drained half way so I could not take a shower like I would have liked to. We decided to just leave then because the shower was not going to drain before check out. We checked out and the desk clerk comp'd our parking because of our troubles, the only nice thing about the whole stay at this hotel. I will never stay at the Crowne Plaza Downtown Columbus ever again, nor would I ever recommend that anyone does.
