Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by ddDDDD GOOD AND BAD but MOSTLY BAD!
This visit is filled with good and bad. While entering the lobby is typical of a value driven hotel or motel (bad), the reception is quite good and the staff really tries to be helpful. Then it turns to bad when you ask for change for a $20 bill and they have to go in the back somewhere behind closed doors (while the front remains unstaffed). In both cases when I asked for change, it took well over 5 minutes for them to return. Bad! During our conference the meals served were actually pretty good but to get from meeting room to lunch was 2 flights up then through the lobby and then one more stairway up. Good for excercise but horribly laid out for conferences. The rooms are clean with digital flat screens that are pretty awesome. Too bad 4 of the best channels have reception problems....bad! The room service was very good and the food temperatures very good but why did my toilet keep running? I called down to complain but to no avail. I literally had to stop flushing because the only way to stop the running water was to stick my hand down in the back reservoir (which is very loose) and had to jiggle the flap. Bad! And while the maid service was prompt the bed sheets are cheap and feel like plastic... bad. And two more bads... no music in the entire hotel...in the restaurants, in the lobby! And then to top it off the apparent owner of the hotel was having a shouting match with one of our conference coordinators in front of attendees. So while the staff really tries hard, the hotel needs a serious renovation and owner an attitude adjustment. You won't find me back there...ever.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 Conference Stay
I stayed at this hotel because it was the site of a national conference I recently attended. I price shopped other hotels in the downtown area and was excited to find that this property was a better value than the other locations. The rooms were clean and there were not major signs of distress to them. There are a few couple small details that would of made my stay more enjoyable. The sheets were over starched in the rooms and not comfortable. Besides that the rooms were great however the one detail of the sheets could of made the stay good to great. I used the fitness center daily and all the equipment was up to date, the room was very sanitary and I was surprised to see a complimentary fully stocked water cooler and towels. Day two of the fitness center however there were no towels in the room. Could not sanitize my equipment after use. Details........Good to great.
The staff was always friendly, we requested a late check out due to a late flight and that was not a problem.
We used the restaurant one day for lunch and the experience was not good. Bad service and items missing off my sandwich. It was like no one knew what to do. "We have a table, what do we do now?" type for feel to the experience. I have come to expect this from most hotel food service as I tend to stay at budget properties. Little help here again would take the stay from good to great.

I had booked two rooms for a weekend business trip. When picking up a car rental at DFW Airport, I was told my credit card had been declined, which I thought was weird as I knew there was enough credit. I later found out, the hotel had taken two full night's payment from the card BEFORE I had even arrived at the hotel! So immediately, my plans are messed up due to having to rent the car on a different credit care that I did not want to use.
When I checked in, the electronic key did not work for my room. I was told they had problems with access to that particular room. If that's the case, why assign it to me or anyone??!! I was given another room.
After my first night's stay, the electronic card stopped working. When I went to the front desk, I found out they had programmed it for one night's stay. I was there for 4 nights. This was rectified.
The two full night's payment from my credit card was still temporarily authorized from my card. I enquired about this, as I had given them a different credit card to hold the stay. I was told it was released, I asked why the payments were taken initially and was told it was the type of rate that I had booked and it was stated in my confirmation email. I checked the email, there was no mention of this. After I informed them of this, they then admitted the payments were taken by mistake!
Prior to checking out, we visited the breakfast room. One of the servers kept rudely interrupting the conversation I was having with my brother. It seemed she was trying too hard to be of service. She then managed to spill milk all over the table, the floor, and my shoes! No apologies were made.
When we checked out, I paid the whole stay with cash. They gave me receipts claiming the two night's stay was credited back to my card. Again, I was told it should take a few business days for the payments to be released.
Today, the payments have gone through, which has also taken my card over my credit limit! Now I have to battle with the hotel and my credit card company to get those funds credited back. A headache I really didn't want to go through!
I gave two stars because the rooms were clean and nice, the location of the hotel was perfect for our needs, and the staff were quite pleasant, otherwise it would have been one star or none!

My adult son and I enjoyed our stay at The Crowne Plaza very much. The front desk staff were awesome, particularly Kandy. Walter, the van driver, was also very helpful and friendly. Parking was complimentary which is very rare in most downtown hotels.......anywhere. Would definitely recommend to anyone.

I had to change dates because of a change in plans. The staff was very understanding, and the change was easier than anywhere else I have ever been before. No complications. Thanks for your time.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by greconorsk Too cold and too noisy
The Temp in the room would not get above 66 when it was 32 or below degrees outside. 3 of the nights there was a cluster. 18-25 year olds running around the halls, on every floor, and slowing down the elevators. What should have taken 10 min to get to my room with my bags, took over 30 min. It was a mess.
Now, I will say that the staff there is EXCELLENT! They were VERY helpful, except the three times that I asked to have the heat looked at, but that is out of their hands. The building just needs a better furnace.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Stuart82 Great Location and Great Service!
The hotel has a shuttle that took me to AAC right when I was ready. The green chili cheesburger was great at the hotel. The diner was connected to the bar and the dance floor so the atmosphere flowed throughout the area, and I heard nothing up in my room!
I'd go back next time I need a place in downtown.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Steff22 Horrible hotel stay ever
I was in 30th of november and 1st of december 2012 - and has the most horrible hotel stay ever.
There was a fire in the hotel - but the staff wasn`t able to handle this case like they have too.
- I had to call the reception to ask what´s going on (because of the fire brigade outside)
- fire alarm was activated 30minute too late
- according to the hotel there was "nothing"
- according to the fire brigade "the hotel was on fire"
The laywer is working on this case.
So: Don´t use this hotel

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Grossedoutbycarpetstain Older Hotel Could Use Some TLC
There was a huge black stain on the carpet at the end of one of the beds. If I hadn't been so tired I would have requested a different room. The bathroom should have been cleaner (specifically the walls and floors were splattered), but the beds were fine. Only stayed one night so not looking for lots of amenities. Parking garage was convenient until I tried to leave. It took the attendant almost 5 minutes to find my name on her paperwork so I wouldn't have to pay twice. Desk clerk warned me that anyone under 18 years of age could not be in lobby after 10 pm because of the attached nightclub. Location was convenient.

I stayed at the Crowne Plaza on November 8, 2012. From
the moment I walked in I was met with a friendly smile and helpful staff. The room was excellent, although the thermostat was a bit difficult to operate. The food in the restaurant was excellent as was the service. I highly recommend this motel for the business person or someone visiting Dallas!!!

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Traci04 Not the room we reserved
Booked a king room by phone and when we arrived at the hotel we were given a queen handicapped room. We called down to the front desk and were told that since the hotel was full we couldn't change rooms. They did knock a small amount off the room but I don't feel like they really tried to accomodate us. The room was clean but the bathroom was in need of some small fix ups. The sink felt like it could crash at any time and the toilet lid fell to one side when you sat down. It is an older hotel but for the $$ you would think they would fix it up a bit.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by kmjepatch Good for the budget traveler going to an expensive downtown area.
I stayed at this hotel so I could be within walking distance to the Dallas Convention Center. This hotel was about a 10 minute walk to the convention center, and I felt safe walking from the hotel to the convention center. I agree with reviews on other sites that this hotel is somewhat dated, and the amenities provided in room are minimal. However, I did find a clean, neat room, and comfortable bed upon my arrival. All the necessary fixtures were in working order. Yes, the walls are a bit thin (I had a loud group next door), and this is by no means a "luxury" hotel, but, it is great for a traveler trying to save a bit of $ and being willing to deal with less amenities and service. I found this hotel to be great for the Dallas Convention Center, and did notice that it was close to the West End and JFK sites (one could easily walk to those as well).

Your staff provided me with good customer service such as when I notified them of my family coming to visit me, they provided complimentary meal tickets for my family and they did it with a smile.
The hotel restaurant manager Gigi was very hospitable, she was very friendly and always smiling. She was available for her guest by offering additional services, asking questions in order to ensure everything was great, if not, she would correct it. Also provided complimenary drink tickets. If I needed anything, Gigi made sure that I got it. The food was great! Her staff was also wonderful.
Also exceptional was your hotel offered me and my colleagues complimentary breakfast and lunch, wow! that was wonderful.
Also the convenience of your hotel location, walking distance to the office, great!

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 False alarm disrupted whole night
On my recent stay, a false alarm at 1:11 a.m. produced ear-shattering alarms for almost twenty minutes. There was no announcement on the speakers to let guests know that this was a false alarm, so, being on the 19th floor, I was faced with the choice of ignoring the alarm -- impossible to do, because of the volume -- or walking down 19 flights in the middle of the night on what I suspected, but did not know, was a false alarm. No apologies were made upon check out.
