One of the best assets was the hotel's proximity to COBO and Joe Louis Arena. We enjoyed a very scenic view from our 14th floor room.
Wasn't particicularly happy with low to moderate hot water temps; but, it was tolerable and, frankly, the only complaint we have.
An especially accommodating staff! We appreciate all who made our stay quite enjoyable and comfortable!!!

the views from my room were amazing unfortunately that is where the good comments will stop. The breakfast didnt start until 7:30 am according to the front desk so for a business person that obviously is not going to work out as we all need ot be somewhere. Upon check out which was quick there was only 1 valet so it took nearly 20 min in order to get my vehicle which made me late for my meeting not to mention that it cost me $25 for the poor service. The lobby and restaurant is nice but saying the rooms were newly remodeled concerns me of what they were before. There was no bath tub, just something that resembled a shower with a 3 inch lip like you are at an outhouse. I turned the shower all the way up and the water was luke warm at best which started the day off bad freezing in it. I was giving this hote a try but based on my experience i will stick to the other ones i stay at downtown.

I could not say enough about this place. I'M DISABLED and don't have a lot of time and strength to go back to the front desk to ask what is going on, I'm in more pain doing this. Always leaving messages but no returning answers, at front desk, because my ROOM PHONE 90% WOULD NOT DIAL FRONT DESK BUT WOULD DIAL RESERVATION. When I asked for a disabled room with a bathtub they said they don't even have any disabled rooms available. And this was asked about every 2 days that they didn't even have any disabled rooms. When the hotel online said they had 12 rooms.
TOO MANY PROMISES, BUT NO ONE DOING VERY VERY LITTLE.
Why NO HEAT AND air conditioning?????
Why did Overcharge????
Why very dirty????
Why didn't know what to do with my reservation?????
When I made my reservation and their Internet was not working for days. So called Reservation said Internet reservation was not working either, but they would make my reservation, and that I would be in a card locked floor, have cocktails and hors d'oeuvres in the evening, bathrobe, breakfast, on the top floor of the hotel. After I arrived they did not know what reservations I had, so I had to let them know what I was told. BUT THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO DO BUT SAY THAT THEY WERE NOT GOING TO DO ANYTHING. So I called reservation they said yes I had breakfast paid for but they did not know about everything else, so they called the hotel. I was able after 2 DAYS TO GET IT FIXED. DON'T KNOW WHERE OR WHAT THE MANAGEMENT DOES. Took me ABOUT 5 DAYS AFTER I ARRIVED TO GET THE MANAGEMENT NICK CORPORATE ASSISTANT MANAGER, in back room not assistant manager or manager at front desk. They have 2 SETS OF MANAGERS. FRONT DESK, AND BACK ROOM. I TRIED TO GET MY BILL TAKEN CARE OF, BUT THEY WERE CHARGING DAILY ON MY CHARGE CARD, EVEN AFTER THE RESERVATION WAS PAID FOR. THEY SAID THEY WOULD TAKE CARE OF IT. I had on my papers that I HANDED NICK SHOWING ALL THE NIGHTLY CHARGES THEY WERE DOING ON MY BILL, NICK WOULD WRITE DOWN THEIR AUTHORIZED CODES FROM MY CREDIT CARD COMPANY, for nightly charges they were doing. I did have a new reservation starting up in 2 days, maybe that was why they were charging daily on my credit card. After my 2nd reservation, my credit card was still being charged daily after full reservation was paid for. I tried to go to front desk and ask for NICK ASSISTANT MANAGER CORPORATE. BUT WAS NOT AVAILABLE OR NOT THERE. LEFT MESSAGES and private phone number, BUT NEVER RECEIVED ANY RETURNED PHONE CALL. I went to the front desk about 2;00 A.M. the only lady at the front counter said she did the night audit and new they were charging me nightly. She would give me a copy of the bill and said that I had not paid my bill. When Nick assistant manager corporate had a copy of my bill, it showed that I had paid my bill. And all charges and credits. I still left messages FOR NICK TO CALL ME BUT NO RESPONSE. I even called after I left the hotel, for over 2 weeks. I did complain to the hotel group. But nothing happened. Still tried to contact the crown plaza Detroit but no one available and THEY DID NOT HAVE TIME TO TALK TO ME BECAUSE THEY HAD CUSTOMERS AT THE FRONT DESK. THAT WAS THE SAME THING THAT WAS SAID TO ME WHEN I WAS STAYING IN THE HOTEL, they had other customers at the front desk. They did not know what to do.

THERE MIGHT HAVE BEEN TWO PEOPLE AT THE FRONT, THAT CARE BUT THAT WAS HARD NO IF THEY REALLY CARED.
On the 1 1/2 days there finding out that there air handler, cool, and heat was not working and also before I called them a maintenance man came to the door, and said he was there to check the system out. I had not had the chance to call them. I was told that several complaints that the air system was not working, and the rooms should have not been rented out. Maintenance was going to tell the front desk again, with his list of rooms that should have not been rented out. I said please let me know in advance when they were going to work on the air system. And found out that the toilet would take several hours to fill up. On 3rd day before 8 am. I came back from breakfast and my door was propped open by deadbolt with my do not disturb sign hanging on the doorknob. I listened and was about to call the police, but I listened more and it sound like people were working on the air system. I walked in and said what was going on. They had the air system apart; they were there to fix the air system. I said I had the do not disturb sign on the door and I said they were going to let me know when they were going to fix the air system. I said go ahead and finish what you had to do. While I was gathering up important documents and equipment, so they would not get to. They said they can fix the air handler and showed me the new valve that needs to be replaced. I did say something about the DO NOT DISTURB SIGN WAS HANGING ON DOOR, BUT ONE SAID WERE MAINTENANCE AND WE CAN DO ANYTHING WE WANT. I talked to the front desk and said it was hard to even keep heat in room at night. So they gave me a 2nd room, on the same floor, but I would have to go between rooms to sleep and use the bathroom without heat until it gets fixed. I asked the front desk after a couple of days when they thought it would be fixed. And it was a problem for me to go between rooms. They would check. After a week I went to the front desk and asked do they know when the air handler was going to be fixed. They had called the person that was in charge of maintenance. I waited and talked to maintenance man they said they would have it fixed that day. Would say that the front desk. Not fill out there paperwork, when maintenance came to my door the 2nd day and knew there was a problem, why would he say that. Late about 8 PM I checked the room and the fan was not working. I went to the front desk the next day and said I guessed that they did not have time yesterday to fix the air handler. They said they would call and let me know. Like they said many times in the past when I was waiting for it to be fixed. That went on for couple more days, then found out that the speeds were not hooked up, like they worked before they worked on the air handler so after 3 days I figure that was all day were going to do. Least with heat working AND no conditioning. I had to live with there problems. Least if I was able to turn on the air handler on high it would bring cooler air in from there fresh air supply too keep fresh here and sometimes keep in it from getting warm, also leaving the drapes open during daytime to may be get the cold Windows too cool things down. Temperature went up and down. THEY WOULD NEVER UNLESS I WENT TO THE FRONT DESK AND I ASKING THE MAINTENANCE IF THEY WERE AVAILABLE. BECAUSE I DON'T NO WHO WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR ANYTHING. I 1st asked if their was another room on that floor available FIRST week
The drainpipe was leaking on the car door that I had to get in and out of !!!!
Carpet in one room would make my socks black.
Bathrooms in one room was a small shower only about 24" x 30", very small bathroom that had heat, the 2nd room I used. The 1st room had a bathtub and big bathroom, but no air handler was working. No heat. At way below 0° outside, the worst weather they had for years I was told. Some stains on one bathroom floor I could wipe up but had to let some soap soak a while then rinse with water.
THE HOUSEKEEPERS WERE NICE AND WAS THERE TO CLEAN. And I tipped them.
I had Valet parking. There was many times at night that I could not find any Valet people around, and the main doors were closed up. I did have some front desk called for the Valet person, but I waited for 20 min. and had to use a side door that I had to use a lot, that was not safe. WATER WAS LEAKING FROM THE CEILING DRAIN PIPES, NOT SPRINKLERS OR WATER PIPES. AND THE GARAGE WAS A DISASTER TRASH, and for 2 weeks parked over old piles up cardboard and dirt on a cement floor that look like it was never cleaned.
I did have a couple of Valet people that were around to help me and I tipped them. And that was only there shift.
THERE WAS COUPLE OF TIMES THAT I COULD NOT EVEN GET IN THE FRONT DOOR OF CROWN PLAZA HOTEL OR GO AROUND TO THE BACK WHERE VALET PARKING WAS, AND YELL FOR THEIR HELP I’M DISABLED WITH AN ELECTRIC SCOOTER. HOW DOES YOU CALL CROWN PLAZA, WHEN THERE LOCAL NUMBER ALSO WENT TO RESERVATION?
Driveways and walkways were not clean either.
THE POOL WAS NOT WORKING THE HOT TUB A COUPLE TIMES, AND IT WAS BROKEN DOWN TOO. When you wipe your hand in the pool after several days being inky you got white paint on your hand. THE EXERCISE ROOM WAS NEVER AVAILABLE. FLOORS AROUND POOL AND HOT TUB WERE DIRTY BLACK, WHICH I COULD WIPE SOME OF IT UP WITH THEIR TOWELS. THE BATHROOM ADJACENT TO POOL WAS EVEN DIRTIER, THAT YOU COULD WIPE WITH THEIR TOWELS AND A LITTLE WATER ONLY.
THE RESTAURANT WAS NICE THE HELP WAS VERY HELPFUL. But at the beginning had to ask for them to take my eggs Benedict back because the WHITES OF THE EGGS WERE RUNNING. And the last week I was there, I guess the reason why they had no salad dressing because that person that made the dressing was on vacation.
BUT THE RESTAURANT FOOD WAS GOOD. But for some small problems with Cook or Cook's.
The staff told me that they wanted to do things cheap on this Crowne Plaza Hotel. THE LADY THAT I BELIEVE THAT I MET AND BROUGHT HER DIRTY WORKERS AND DIRTY TOOLS AND DIRTY SUPPLIES IN THE RESTAURANT WHILE THEY EAT, 7 FEET FROM ME, AND I COULD HERE CLEARLY WHAT THEY WERE TALKING ABOUT. I BELIEVE THAT LADY I MET WAS THE ONE THAT WAS IN CHARGE OF THE REMODEL OF THE CROWN PLAZA HOTEL, AND SAYING THAT HER WORKERS WORKING ON IT.
HAD TO STOP MY CREDIT CARD OR THEY COULD HAVE CHARGED ME A COUPLE THOUSAND DOLLARS MORE. I'VE STILL NEVER HEARD FROM ANYBODY.
CROWN PLAZA HOTEL GROUP WAS THERE SEVERAL DAYS BEFORE I LEFT AND WAS TOLD BY EMPLOYEES THAT THEY WERE WONDERING WHY THIS HOTEL WAS NOT IN PROPER WORKING ORDER.
