Nice room for the price

We had an enjoyable stay here at the hotel It was clean. We were greeted with great attitudes. We didnt eat but enjoyed the bar and had a few cocktails. The bar staff were very friendly.

A few things of note are:
The bathroom door is mainly frosted glass, so if you were with other people they will see you when you go to the restroom.
The parking is Valet only and cost $25.

Other then that we enjoyed the hotel and would likely return if there were occasion.

Great front desk staff

The hotel is beautiful. We were greeted immediately by the front desk staff. She was very helpful and friendly. We had explained to us that the king executive room, we had booked online, was next to the elevators, which meant with over 24 floors, you would be hearing it run, frequently. We are not light sleepers, so that wasn't an issue for us. We we're then directed to the mandatory valet service, $25 additional dollars per day. I had seen this online, so while I still think It is a ridiculous fee, we were prepared for It. Our room was on the 22nd floor with a great view of the river and the ambassador bridge. The elevator was indeed noisy, but we eventually became accustomed to it. There is a comfy couch in the room and a nice flat screen tv. Only problem is, the screen faces the bed and it doesn't tilt out to aim towards the couch. On the bed was a nice foot massage gel, lotion and room spray to help you sleep. A very nice surprise and we used all three. We were there 2 nights and it would have been nice to have this supplied both nights, but it wasn't. The room was nicely decorated, but we found hair on the couch and on the floor in the bathroom. The room did not look like it had been vacuumed either. When I moved the coffee table, there were crumbs under it too. The bathroom was smaller, but functional. No tissues anywhere in the room and only the roll of toilet paper on the dispenser. We both had colds so it was like we felt we had to ration out how much tp we could use, if we didn't want to call for more. Tissues are usually standard even in the cheapest of hotels we have stayed at, so this was surprising.. The bed was fairly comfortable and the pillows were very nice. We had left our large drink cups in the room and our pastries. The cups were discarded and the pastries were opened. I know this because I had shut the container and left some mints on it. When we returned to the room, the mints were off and the container was left half open. We left the cups there to use again. If they were not in the garbage, they should not have been discarded. We had left both the pastries and the cups together neatly next to the coffee area. We had to leave very early after our second night. I was impressed to find the invoice under our door before we left so checkout was done. We were given a number to text our valet ticket number to, which I thought was a great idea, so your car could be ready when you got downstairs. I sent the text and was immediately sent back a message that the service wasn't working. I sent again and it seemed to go through. We got down to the valet area, and no car and no valet staff. Someone finally showed up about 5 minutes later, just as we were about to head up to the lobby. I told him about sending the text and he said they were switching systems that day. This should have been conveyed to us up front. Thankfully, I had allotted extra time for traffic or we might have been late to our appointment. The hotel is close to Cobo Hall and we used the people mover from there frequently during our stay. I would stay again, but hopefully theses little issues can be considered. For the price and the calibur of Crowne Plaza, I was disappointed.

close the room and fix the ceiling

money isn't everything you can close that room for a day or two and make the repairs to the ceiling before it gets worse falling plaster from the ceiling into my wine was not the experience i wanted or paid for.

Nice hotel, food not great

This is a nice hotel with amazing views of the water. The staff is friendly and the hotel appeared to be clean. The shower in my room appeared to be very old and in need of updating. The bathroom was extremely small. I ate in the bar area and in my room. The food at this hotel is not up to the standards of the rest of the hotel. I got sick my first night there after eating at the bar/restaurant. I tried to order a simple Cobb/Chef salad the first night and was told they could not make one. I ordered oatmeal (room service) the next morning and it appeared to be instant. I attempted to order a room service pizza that evening and was told they had not received any crust deliveries. Their menu says it's made from fresh dough. The person I spoke with said it's pre-packaged.
