My partner and I stayed here in December and found the whole experience to be a delight. From check in, which was handled expertly by Martina, through to check out, we had a fabulous stay. We ate in the restaurant in the evening where Anita looked after us superbly. The food was very good and the house wine also!
I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone and look forward to repeating the experience soon

This splendid Hotel situated in a quiet corner yet so near the centre of the Scottish capital delivers all it says. From stepping into the magnificent foyer being greeted with a warm welcome and attended to by knowledgeable friendly staff one feels the ambience of home and the feeling of being spoiled. The room was perfect in every way and the facilities were brilliant. if you like class food menus then the encapsulating variety of meals to choose from is a treat in itself.
A stay at this hotel is a must for the discerning traveller or anyone wanting a holiday or short break.
I will certainly be returning as a hotel in completeness like the Royal Terrace is a hidden gem

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Dottya60 Very small room
We were at a function in the hotel last weekend 18/1/14 and decided to stay over.Over all the hotel was very comfortable, the staff were brilliant, so friendly and helpful, We were however very dissappointed at how small our room 104 was and also the size of the en-suite was disappointing. For an overnight stay it was ok, but had we been staying longer we would have been asking for a bigger room. We had to move chairs to be able to open the wardrobe door and had nowhere to put our bags.Having stayed at other CrowPlaza hotels, we feel the room size really let the hotel down . Our room was way overheated for the size, 1st thing we didi was turn temp down, while our friends room was freezing!!! We appreciate it is in a prime location in central Edinburgh, but for the price we feel let down

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by DrMac23 Could be much better - 10th anniversary celebration
My wife & I stayed for 1 night. We live in Edinburgh, and chose this hotel to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary away from the kids. Check in was disappointing, even embarrassing. The person just told what us what we couldn't get such as an upgrade - I hadn't even asked for one, although in nearly every hotel, I have been offered one at Platinum level if available. No problem, but the room was disappointingly small, the bathroom had wood strips coming off the bath. Fair enough we thought, it's just one night, (The front desk had told us they were quiet too) but we were excited to get in the pool.
We took to the pool and sauna. Sauna was great, but the pool was cold, and had a very cold hose running in it. The day before I had actually taken my kids to see where we were staying, the concierge showed us all the very warm pool with kids playing in it, slightly different to our experience... Even the highlight aromatherapy shower ran cold. Small detail, but both of us were competition swimmers so have experienced many pools... Although we didn't use the gym it looked well equipped with quality cardio machines.
We did get a nice anniversary card in our room which was a nice touch.
All in all, the experience was a little disappointing but it didn't take the edge off our day, we had a fabulous meal at a Michelin star restaurant, and breakfast at the hotel was great.
The staffs were all very friendly, they have a great concierge, but I was really hoping to recommend the hotel and should have been providing a strong recommendation.

Well done Crowne Plaza, staff and hotel were fantastic, helpful and had a real caring attitude towards the guests.
Only one minor issue throughout our stay and that was a fire alarm going off, but the staff dealt with this perfectly and everything was resolved within 15mins.
As a gold member they really made me feel like a valued guest!
Brilliant would recommend this hotel to everyone!

Stay 4 nights just before new years eve, nice surprise with fire work right in front of the hotel in the 30th.
Nice small swiming pool, breaksfast is adequate, could do with more variation as we stay for 4 days
Close to New and ild town as well as Holyrood house
Overall a very nice place to stay, we booked early and get a very good value. Will definitely stay there again if we visit Edinburgh again.
The room is spacioua for family of 3 , my child got a sofa bed and separate bathroom. She was very happy as she got her own little place. very pleasant stay indeed

My wife and myself stayed at this hotel for 3 nights between Christmas and New Year.
I found the hotel was situated in a good locations 5 mins walk from the theatre and St James shopping center. It was 10 mins walk from Princes Street.
We stayed in a Club Room on the 3rd floor. The only critiscism of the room was there was an air vent on the wall about 18 inches above the floor. Just in line with the bed.The wind whistled in this vent which was annoying. We blocked it with pillows.
I found the staff to be very friendly and very helpful. Good Ambassadors for the hotel.
My only other negative comment was the Club room was not big enough. On our last night we could not get into it as it appeared everyone who was staying at the hotel were club members so we could not get in.
On a positive note. The Bar man was aware of this and he gave complimentary drinks to match what was on offer in the club room.
Overall I would recommend this hotel.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Dwgibson7 Very disappointing
I booked a night in one of your club rooms on the 6th of December for my wife's birthday. I have stayed in you Glasgow hotel and was impressed by you club rooms and lounge. So I opted for the same here. On arriving we were told that the spa facilities were under going maintenance and the receptionist couldn't tell us when they would be ready to use. Particularly annoying as we had arrived early to use the facilities.
Then we found you club lounge offering of alcoholic drinks and canapés only available from 6-7pm.
The room was run down and dated, with the hot bathroom tap coming loose and drenching my wife's dress before we went out for the evening.
The continental breakfast that was offered the next morning in the club lounge was pathetic, 3 measly croissants and 3 of the smallest pain o chocolat I have ever seen plus a small amount of cereal and cold meat was all that was on offer.
On checking out the receptionist was apologetic and asked us how we would like to be compensated, surely that is up to the hotel to decide.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by AYScott Lovely large room
We booked a room with two double beds for a girly weekend. The location was a good 15 mins walk from princes street but we wanted a hotel with a pool so booked the crowne plaza. On arrival we were told that the pool etc was closed due to a pH issue. We asked if this would be sorted for later in the afternoon and the answer we got was that they didn't know. Our room was spotless with two large beds and a beautiful bathroom. Room had white robes and lots of little special touches like pillow spray. It was also very quite. The only fault with the room could be that it might be too hot for some guests. The problem with the pool was not rectified by the time we checked out and unfortunately even though we spoke to receptionist a number of times and duty manger three times no one could actually tell us when the pool would be opened or offer us anything by way of compensation. We also left our contact details for the general manager to contact us after we left. A week later no one has bothered to make contact and for a large chain like crowne plaza I think this is pretty poor service.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by JDL60 Fine quality hotel with amazing attention to detail
well, what can I say? Frankly this is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. From the amazingly attentive staff to the fantastic room, everything just so good.
I was staying for 2 x nights on the occasion of my nephew's wedding - with my wife and our eldest (4 and a half year old) daughter.
Everything began with a great surprise - I had booked on reward points - was upgraded to a club room with the benefits which go with that!
The staff in especial deserve great praise, their great quality friendly touches make this a 5 star 'home from home'
This hotel is a great credit to the marque and especially the staff and managers who make it so - I cannot wait to return!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by markfife Stunningly beautiful and peaceful. Attentive staff that leave you feeling valued.
The hotel is centrally located and only a 10 minute walk from the train station and centre. The hotel is about 5 minutes from the Edinburgh Playhouse, as well as the Omni Centre which boasts resturants, a cinema, and a health club.
As a plantinum member I was very excited to have another Crowne plaza in Scotland and have stayed 3 times now. I have since found that if you want to be valued, looked after and listened too then there really is no need to stay anywhere else! I have found any feedback I have give is valued, taken seriously on board, and followed up. Of course no hotel can get it right 100 % off the time but isn't it of more value that a hotel is always striving to get it right and takes on boards comments and implements changes!?
The hotel is lovely and has a secluded, quiet and warm atmosphere. The building itself is eloquent inside and as for the rooms... Wohhhh!!! The rooms are spacious, comfortable, stuningly beautiful, and certainly give you the Wohhhh factor!
I would highly recommend booking a club room which gives complimentary access to the club lounge. Here you will find a warm, cosy, and peaceful location to relax 24 hours of the day! There is hot drinks, and a good selection of soft drinks... including Scotland's number one soft drink Irn Bru...don't forget to try it out! You will also find some nibbles throughout the day. Here, in the quietness of the lounge, you can order a full Scottish breakfast. Perhaps in the summer you might even be able to sit in the pictureous garden which you can access from the club lounge. Of course you can also have a continental breakfast here and if you really wish you can have breakfast in the restaurant . At night relax in the club lounge where for 2 hours complimentary spirits, wine, and beer-both bottled and draught are served with a friendly smile. There is also a selection of canapes.
Staff are genouine, friendly, and take time to build up a rapport. Check in is smooth and hassle free and staff remain focused on you.
The hotel also has a lovely swimming pool which feels private and calming. Relax in the chair with a book or why not try the steam room!
All guests can access complimentary use of the computer. You can also print and scan documents while sitting in the stylish and comfortable chair.
Having just come back from the most wonderful stay here with my family I had every confidence the hotel could leave a lasting impression. Having not had a family holiday like this for years it was just stunning and my family loved it. I now having lasting memories to treasure of our stay there.
The Crowne Plaza has a logo... It's the small things that matter.. How about coming back to your bed to find a sweet treat of Scottish tablet!,or the spray to help you sleep-it works! An earlier check in and a late checkout-if they can they will! Fancy a hot chocolate but no hot chocolate in your room... I'm sure somebody will find you some, forgot your toothbrush or need tooth paste - no problem request some complimentary at reception... the list goes on and on!
I really can't recommend this hotel enough and as they strive for execellence be sure to give constructive feedback-it really is listened too - a massive massive thank you to Lucja and Alsadair for the way they have left me feeling very valued. Thanks for the additional inclusion of Irn Bru in the fridge, the lovely new chair in the business section, and the wide selection of beers on offer in the club lounge-now here is a hotel that really listens to it's customers.
I am looking forward to many many more stays..... eh 10 booked so far!
Forget the rest... try the best!
Wishing this new Crowne plaza every success.

We had a lovely overnight stay at the weekend whilst visiting Edinburgh to see the Lion King at the Playhouse theatre. The hotel is very close to the theatre and has on-street parking facilities. It is of a very high standard without being pretentious, and staff were friendly, courteous and polite. Our twin room was very clean and spacious, with a lovely elevated view over parkland above London Road, and we could see the River Forth and the hills beyond. The bathroom was spotless too, and of a good size. The beds were so comfortable, with sumptuous duvets and pillows, and extras like lavender spray were provided too. I have spent quite a few short stays in hotels in the last few months and can honestly say it was the best sleep experience I have had in a long time! Breakfast had ample choice of healthy options and freshly-cooked cooked meals alike. Thank you for a wonderful stay - we will definitely be back, the sooner, the better! Well done!

I stayed in CP (former Royal Terrace) many times. It has a perfect location and very pleasant atmosphere. There are really wonderful rooms on the first floor but we stayed on the ground floor this time with a view to the back wall of the garden, not ideal but ok just for one night.
Breakfast was disappointing experience, unfortunately. There were no tea spoons on our table, no yoghurt, no selection of jams.. We noticed that breakfast overall went down in comparison to our past stays, both food wise and service wise.
Room service was great! Quick and rather fresh food.
Anyway, it is an excellent hotel to stay for business.
