Excellent service from check in to check out. During our stay we ate in the restaurant for all of our breakfast and one night for dinner. The food and service was outstanding. Stayed on the third floor facing the street and had no issues with any street noise. All of the staff including frontdesk, concierge, restaurant, housekeeping and bar were very cordial.

Great stay in centre of Edinburgh. Located in a quiet street minutes from the centre. The girls on the front desk at this hotel were really friendly and very hospitable and made the stay. Nice touch to give access to the Club Lounge for all Platinum Reward Members, much appreciated. Thank You for lovely stay.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by M1ch4el Great location and comfortable room
We stayed at the Crowne Plaza Royal Terrace whilst visiting friends and seeing some of the Commonwealth Games. Location was great for Waverley station, a short walk away and the commute to Glasgow.
Most nights we were in fairly late but still had a friendly greeting from the duty manager.
Hotel had loads of character, our room was lovely with very high ceilings - must have been a very fine residence at some stage in the past and now a sympathetic conversion to a hotel..
Will be back again staying there for the Ryder Cup in September!

My husband and I were so impressed with the customer service and the accommodations at the Crown Plaza Hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful with everything we needed from reservations to mailing postcards. We were given an up grade to a larger room, and it was spectacular. The location was quiet and right near a garden area where you could take a walk. Restaurants and the Royal Mile were within walking distance. Because of the location we were able to come back to our room, freshen up, and head back out for the evening. When we got back, our room had been cleaned again, and our beds turned down. The beds were very comfortable as well. Let me add the caramel short bread cookies were just perfect with a morning cup if tea. Thank you for making our trip so special!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Wardygirl37 The staff made this hotel stay exceptional!
The hotel is lovely but we did have a few problems along the way, nothing overly major, and I'm happy to say that as soon as we made the staff aware of the problems they were dealt with immediately. In particular the Duty Manager (Sharon# and the Concierge #Rui) really went out of their way to ensure we were happy - its often the staff that make the difference in any business and this was certainly the case for us! I would highly recommend this hotel and their staff to anyone.

I realy enjoyed my stay with you in Edinburgh.
We had a few small problems with breakfast when ordering fried eggs ,seemed to be an age before we got them.Everything else was just fine.

Room was not ready at the advertised time, even though we checked in 3 hours earlier. Staff offered free drink but coffee was cold.
Bedroom door did not shut on its own, a security risk. Bedroom lights only worked if switched on or off in correct sequence.
WiFi did not work in bedrooms and was intermittent and very slow in public areas.
We were interrogated in the bar when ordering drinks and trying to put on room bill, so paid cash to get a drink.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by vale1425 beware of the minibar
the hotel was fine. The problem is they never told us if you move things from minibar to make space -that was my case- they charged them, so when I checked out they tried to bill me with a lot of things I never drink or eat. I had to desagree with that and they didnt charge them.
Breakfast is too expensive for what you get. I went to this hotel in Brugges and breakfast was really stunning.
Nice gym and sauna. Very confortable property and bedroom, nice view too.
Also a spanish woman at the reception told us we had breakfast included which we didnt

Great location. The Concierge (Scott) was most helpful and knowledgeable of the local area. We arrived early and he greeted us with such a great attitude and saw that our luggage was secured and placed in our room prior to check-in. Very nice accommodations. I would certainly stay there again.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Jinx1959 Late acces to room
This is a good hotel but it appears to have problems meeting a 3pm check in time for guests. On our last visit to this hotel on 20th July 2014 numerous guests turned up for a 3pm check in to find that their rooms were not ready.
Reception staff were constantly on phone to cleaning supervisor to find out when rooms would be ready.
We dropped our bags off at hotel at 1pm and went into town. On our return to hotel at 3pm room was not ready. There were other guests sitting about the reception lounge awaiting entry to their rooms. At 3.30pm I complained about the delay and duty manager was informed. Within 5 minutes room became available.
A complimentary bottle of wine was delivered to the room which was appreciated.

The hotel is centrally located and within walking distance of the town center. The staff are very helpful and friendly. The rooms are comfortable and clean. My only criticism is that during me stay the internet service was down which meant I had to go to a local Starbucks every morning to send e-mails.

As long as you aren't picky, don't mind showering in sewer water or no water at all, arguing with staff to try to correct your terrible room and don't mind being ignored by management or the hotel when you try to address your concerns, then this is the place for you. I expected more from a Crowne Plaza hotel, and was very disappointed. Edinburgh is a great city - stay closer to downtown and pass on this poorly run hotel.

The room is spacious with ample amenities. The staffs are courteous and helpful. The environment is quiet, clean and comfortable. The free wireless internet access is great in the lobby area but spotty within the room. The hotel location is a bit far from the city center but very close to Calton Hill and Arthur's Seat which provides great hikes and beautiful scenery.

The hotel is formed from adjacent interconnected Edwardian terraced buildings in central Edinburgh over looking a public park.
The hotel has extensive gardens at the rear and a selection of in-house guest areas, bars etc.
All of the staff with whom we dealt were polite and very helpful.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Suit on a plane Good central hotel for business traveller
Good location close to theatre, cinema and restaurants but also a quiet spot and never a problem parking.
Converted townhouse design means more character than the usual hotel but it still has all the amenities you need including a good pool and sauna.
Fish has disappeared off the breakfast menu - only temporarily I hope - as an alternative to the belly busting full English.
Third stay in less than 12 months since I found this hotel amongst a sea of alternatives and I plan to keep using it.

I can honestly say this is the best hotel room I have ever stayed in (having stayed in a lot over the last 20 years). I must have been lucky and been upgraded to room 102 but I was stunned when I walked into it. A fantastic room with the sizeable bathroom in the middle which you could walk round but still space for a three piece suite, coffee table and work area as well as a king size bed and loads of room. All fitted out to a very high standard. I have stayed in The Royal Terrace on a number of occasions now and have never been disappointed. Rooms are always clean and of a very good standard and staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast is also good and there is plenty of choice in the buffet. I am in Edinburgh regularly on business and this is now my number one choice of hotels (and there are a few to choose from in Edinburgh)!

Very good value and location. Only slight niggle was the high chairs could do with being a bit cleaner (that said i bet that they aren't often used at the location)
Everything else was excellent and i would certainly stay there again.
I'm also sure that if i mentioned the high chairs when i was there the staff would have done something as they were helpful about everything else i admit i just avoided the issue!

Loved our stay here - the staff were great and the room upgrade was most welcome. The room itself was spacious and the four poster bed so comfortable. Breakfast is good with a vegetarian option for sausages. The bar is quite and could do with some local beer selections rather than the usual boring stuff.

too hot in the room and throughout the hotel, rude and incompetent staff at breakfast who in addition, were completely disorganised.
Quality of breakfast is of a premier inn standard and I would have expected better

My wife is most comfortable in this hotel. She travels the world on business staying in good hotels and she ranks this as her favourite. I am happy because she is happy.
My only grouse is given the quality and ambience two things jar - the poor quality of the breakfast bread and the big curtains to the front club rooms jamb because they are two heavy for the inadequately installed track.
