This hotel is close to the Newark Airport and they have a shuttle service...apart from there nothing much to talk about. The front desk who checked me in showed no level of interest that I arrived at their hotel to stay..it was like.. Heres your key..Next!
I was given a room reserved for the physically challenged....Overall it was a depressing stay!

This applies to the Bar & Restaurant, not the Hotel. The Hotel is fine. “Nick” the Bar/Restaurant manager needs to work on his people skills. Hotel restaurant also has anti customer “policies” that really don’t make me want to come back to this establishment…..ever! I have been to this hotel/bar many times in the last 3 years on business and purchased food many times (over 30 days at this hotel this year). Today I felt like having some Chinese and ordered out. I looked for a place to have my meal and walked past the restaurant/bar. There were two persons at the bar and NOBODY at any of the tables. I sat down at a deserted table, watched the big screen and ate my dinner. I was told by Nick that I couldn’t sit there…..what? I’m a guest at the hotel, I’m not bothering anyone, and there is literally nobody around. So come on….what is the big deal? It’s not like I’m taking up a table that people are in line to have. Plus, I have purchased food here many times before. It’s a Hotel Restaurant inside the hotel, for Pete’s sake. He said it was policy. OK Nick, show me the “policy” on paper. I await your response with a date stamp that shows this “long time policy.” If it does exist, then it needs to be deleted/re-evaluated.

Crowne Plaza Newark has a coffee shop, bar/restaurant and gift shop. Nice amenities if you're in town for a few days. Liked the furnishings, Keurig and good water pressure on top floor in AM. Heater/AC was a little loud kicking on often (but I'd say this for most hotels), affected sleep but otherwise quiet place and overall good experience.

I was scared to book in this hotel for the reviews, but finally I did, it was only 1 night after all, The staff was really nice and helpfull, specially Wilka, she made sure everything was OK with us.
Yes, is not the best location to walk outside, but is the same with the others hotels in the area,
Yes, is a little old, but still was comfortable and clean.
The airport shuttle is FREE= no charge ( someone wrote there was a charge), and it runs constantly to the airport.

Went to this property because of company meetings.
The staff was very accomodating and really tried to make everyone feel comfortable.
Continuous airport shuttles were a big plus.
The building is undergoing some renovations and there were some unfinished items throughout the hallways, but they had signs posted apologizing for this. Their recognition that things weren't at 100% of perfect went a long way towards managing expectations and making my stay pleasant.
It's not the Ritz...but it was a great value for the NYC/NJ area.

My only problem was the remodeling that was going on during my stay. It wasn't the noise it was the moving of furniture during the day down the hall while coming of going of the guest and using the elevators. I would have thought you would shut down a floor and not put guest on that floor while this was going on. That was my only concern. Otherwise everything else was great, staff was very helpful and curtious. I did finally figure out how to get to the hotel without having to go down a few lights and turn around by the last day.

The remodel on the rooms inside gave this place a fresh new look. Restaurant and lounge food was OK. Parking can be a challenge due to the restricted access on 1-9.

Convernience to the airport is the only thing this hotel is worthwhile for. And they charge for it! Believe me. Good bar with capable and friendly bartender. Dangerous neighborhood. You cantt walk anywhere. You will either get killed in traffic or mugged.
Front desk people dont seem happy. Very sullen and suspicious.
Old and overpriced property. I would think this hotel is not up to standards for a Crown Plaza. They are remodeling, but I dont see a major change in quality from cleaning up the appearance.

Don't waste your time or money. This hotel is not worth it unless someone else is paying OR its the only vacancies in town.
The staff is either rude or incompetent. The interior of the hotel is dismal.

Room was clean and fresh looking. Check in staff was friendly and helpful, my only suggestion would be to allow Platnium PC members to use the breakfast voucher at the coffee bar not just the full service restaurant and/or open the buffet earlier than 6

i stayed at this hotel for a night, parked and then left on vacation. everything was ok until i returned and found my car was gone - stolen. the hotel did not accept any responsibility nor did IHG (the hotel group) who kept promising to contact me within 24-48 hours and never once got back to me. it was park at your own risk although i wasn't really aware of the risk before i parked there. i still have the parking ticket that was required to exit the lot! i thought that parking in the front row right outside the lobby was the safest place - wrong! i think i would have been better off parking on the street.

I have stayed at this hotel many times before. During this visit, I realized that my room had a view of a truck storage yard, instead of the Newark International Airport. The lady at the front desk informed me that I should reserve the Executive room, in order to get a better view. Additionally, I had no desk lamp, which made it difficult for me to do any writing. Even though the pillows were very small, I was too exhausted to lose sleep. Overall, I still love this hotel and will return.

We stayed here for a nite before our trip to Jamaica. The hotel has a great location right across from the airport. Its very clean and the staff was very friendly. We parked our car there for a week without any issues.

This property is dated and needs to be remodeled. Installing new carpet in the rooms, is not a remodel. This is the WORST Crown Plaza property that I have ever stayed at. Please remove me from your e-mail list ASAP.

This property is in need of some updating and basic TLC, it just doesn't feel fresh and contemporary like many other CP's across the country. Room felt cramp and you'll struggle to find outlets to plug in electronics. Load slamming doors in guest rooms.
I only ate breakfast at this property...do yourself a favor a skip this buffet. Eggs taste institutional like, fruit out of season and unripe...toast is the best thing you can get. At a $10 price tag you'd be better off stopping in the coffee shop for coffee and a muffin.

Was a little skeptical reading some of these reviews but couldnt be happier I came to the Crowne. The Staff was exceptional. Got me checked in and even gave me a razor and shaving cream, forgot mine at home. Rooms were a nice size with a very comfortable bed. Had no trouble with the elevators. They worked fine for me. All in all had a very peacefu night sleep and a pleasant stay. I would absolutely stay here again.

Lousy location - difficult to get to when driving, nothing nearby but industrial parking lots, between two busy streets with lots of road noise, even on higher floors. Had to try four different rooms before finding one that was minimally acceptable. First and second one reeked of cigarettes though this is purportedly a nonsmoking property. Third had furnishings close to dilapidated - carpet stained and patches worn right through, chair upholstery ripped.

While the hotel is nice, the location leaves alot to be desired. Seems as the hotel is near next to nothing in the way of dining. The room was very comfortable and the staff was friendly. The hotel dining was average at best and pricey. Would recommend this hotel for a one night business trip but longer stays would require more surrounding opportunity and choice.

Airport hotels are a world apart, but this was very substandard, torn and worn, bed's sheets with holes , silverware at the restaurant cheap and worn, staff was friendly but the overall experience was bad, for this hotel's class and price . Again I know very well ariport hotels in US and abroad, I'm not misjudging.

I will not be back to this property. As a Platinum member, I have come to expect more than just free internet and just 1 bottle of water. I have held and maintain several hotel memberships. This was the least I have ever received at a hotel, in which I was the highest tier member. No club, no free breakfast, and only one bottle of water. Even upon stating my dissatisfaction, The front desk receptionist was not interested.
Again I hold highest tier in three hotel chains, I will not settle for the lack of preferential treatment I received at your hotel in the future, I will book somewhere else when I come here.

I had checked into this hotel on November 8th, for a concert. I was lucky enough to be able to check into a room early, the front desk staff was friendly but nothing great. I was not told that I would require a security code for the wi-fi at check-in therefore I had to call down. There was no request for a wake up call or any other amenities the hotel had offered.
I was checked into a room on the 2nd floor around 11. The room was extremely small for a 2 queen bed room; beds didn't really look like they were queen size either.
The linens in the room were stained in some areas or had rips in others. The room had a coffee pot present but no coffee, sugar or whitener.
The shuttle bus was running on limited service which is understandable due to the hurricane sandy.
