I've stayed at this Crowne Plaza seven times in 2013. Primarily it's a place to stay while working in NYC. Usually it's quiet and allows me to finish work and relax. Unfortunately, during my most recent stay on the 5th floor, there were 3 rooms around me (across the hall and to each side) where people were up until 3:00am drinking, fighting and generally being loud in their rooms & the hallway while using vulgar language. I am taking a break and staying elsewhere this time. However, I will return to the Crowne Plaza Englewood if guaranteed a room on one of the quiet floors.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Susan442 Problems with Service
I was at this property for three nights for a business trip and it is in a convenient location and the room was nice and clean. The problem that I had was with the service. My shampoo, conditioner and lotions were not replaced when my room was cleaned, which I did not realize until I was about to use them (very inconvenient). Also, I called the front desk on the evening of March 20th to schedule a 6:00am wake up call for the next morning and I never received the wake up call. I had a plane to catch at LGA Thursday morning. I came very close to missing my plane and had to leave the hotel without getting ready for the day because of this oversight. I have never had a hotel let me down on a wake up call. Very disappointing.

The staff and accommodations were great. Mu husband was at Columbia Presbyterian and the comfort of the room and the convenience of the shuttle made a stressful time less stressful. Bed very comfortable - room clean. Found the shuttle a great service that was made available.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by ColumbiaPatient52 10 Day stay Feb 2013
I stayed at Crowne plaza for 10 days in Feb 2013 due to surgery at Columbia Presbyterian. The Crowne Plaza was one of the hotels recommended on their website. Thecrowne Plaza offers a shuttle to/from the hospital for $12 each way (a real deal compared to a taxi or car service) with a very friendly and professional American driver who made the trip as pleasant as possible.
I was very pleased at the service I received at the hotel. The staff was professional and friendly and even brought in a small fridge and microwave to my room free of charge- you can't beat that!
Housekeeping was respectful of the privacy sign when it was up and came to clean the room when it was not present.
Overall I was very happy with the hotel and staff and WOULD recommend staying there, especially for the price as there is a special rate for columbia patients- MUCH cheaper than staying in Manhattan!
I can't rate the amenities as I didn't use any of them except the restaurant one time. It was just Ok - typical hotel food however the front desk also recommended the 4West diner right across the street. 4West was GREAT- good food , plenty of it (2-3 meals out of one dinner) at a reasonable price and they delivered to the hotel free of charge! If you are staying in the area I would recommend 4West diner..

My wife and I stayed at this hotel during our daughter's hospitalization at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in NYC. We needed and wanted a clean, safe, and comfortable place to sleep and shower. The Crowne Plaza delivered.
The hotel's shuttle service to and fro the hospital was convenient, 15 minutes door-door.
Don't let the dated, outside appearance of its exterior dissuade you from discovering the updated atmosphere.
The staff was great. Everyone was professional and nice. They offered assistance without being intrusive.

The Crown Plaza Hotel chains I found to be among the best, I can always count on good and friendly services, plus a comfortably and a classy place to spent my down time. And this Hotel did not fail. I just hope Crown keep the cost of the room rate down, while keep up the quality and comfort.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by mrsjak Poor customer service
Tried to check in at 3PM, normal check in time, had to wait 1 hour because our rooms were not ready. Our family booked 10 rooms for a wedding. Staff at the front desk told us that guests checked out late and that was why our rooms were not ready. When asked if there was a penalty for a late check out their reply was, "We always accommodate our guests". Really? What about the new guests checking in? No consideration at all! After an hour of waiting in the lobby, we approached the desk and they had our room key. They knew we were waiting in the lobby but did not have the courtesy to call us over and let us know our room was ready.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by SweetPea24 Caring and Hospitable Staff for those with family at NY Hospital
I have just returned from my second week long stay at Crowne Plaza Englewood. I had traveled from the West Coast to be near my dad who had a scheduled surgery at Colombia NY Presbyterian
Hospital, as it was one of the hotels NYP recommends on their website. It is the ONLY place to stay!! If you have the unfortunate experience of having to be at the hospital you can rest assured (and peacefully in your clean room) that this hotel is convenient, reasonably priced, has a great buffet hot breakfast, and INCREDIBLE staff! They are very accommodating to ones needs.
It is just across the bridge~ Takes 8 mins door to door during non-rush hour. In the morning, it's 20-25 mins. You couldn't take a taxi from midtown and get there in 20 mins and it would cost you $50 in taxi fare.
The staff is very friendly and caring as they asked every morning how my dad was feeling, and have a special room rate for NY Presby. guests. You can cancel same day and add days as needed. They also have a shuttle which is very convenient. My mom doesn't drive, so once I left for the west coast, she was able to get to the hospital - 4 times during the day.
There's no question in my mind whether you should stay here! Especially if you're not familiar with NJ/NY area. It's very easy to get there with or without a car.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Hamdenmom Very Nice Hotel - Great Price
From the moment I arrived the staff was extremely friendly and helpful The room was clean and very comfortable and updated. Temperature controls allowed me to make the room as toasty or cool as I wanted. There is also ample parking if you have a car.
The only negative is that there is really nothing within walking distance - no stores, restaurants. It's a great place to stay if you have a car or friend with a car. I will definitely stay here again.
Another plus - I LOVED the smell of the soap! :-)

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by KabobKats Great Spot!!!
The bed was very comfortable and our stay was wonderful. We had no refrigerator in the room, called the front desk, and one was delivered very quickly, and hooked up. The bathroom was almost as big as the bedroom. The only complaint I had was the size of the room.

The staff is so very attentive. They give directions as well as provide shuttle service within five miles. The know the immediate area so they can refer you to a diner for breakfast. I was late and missed the one offered at the property. The shuttle took me to the drug store. I truly appreciated the hospitality.
My bed was very comfortable and they have amenities for preparing for a good night of relaxation.
If in the area again, I will definitely stay at this property.
Thank you!

We stayed overnight at the hotel because they were close to hospital and admittance was early the next day. We arrived late afternoon and valet was right there to help. Check-in was fast. Room upgrade for 3 to make us more comfortable. We went to restaurant for dinner and food was delicious. Room was clean and comfortable and quiet. Valet came up to help with our bags in the morning and even brought our car to door because it was freezing out. He loaded car and was very pleasant. Oveall this was a very positive stay. Highly recommend this hotel.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Blaq Pros and Con's
Pros would be the location and if you are a AAA or any of their benefit member rates, and promos they offer with your check in key cover. Now the Con's ... The Breakfast for the cost is not worth it 13+ dollars for cold food and stale pasteries/bread is not worth it. Best to try the Diner across the street. The room over-all was clean. My con would be the lack of acknowledgement or shifting. Upon check in I was asked if i needed a wake up call. I said yes for 1330. Now the phone rang only twice in my stay.. Upon arrival Edwin called and inquired how my room was . and the second when i received asking what time i would be checking out.. I then asked what happened to my wake up call. and was told ACCORDING TO THEIR SYSTEM the call was made.... IT DID NOT RING.. now this hotel guarantees their wake up call free night stay. but i was told according to their system it was done. I was offered 5000 pts. which takes at least 25,000 to get a free night. At first was the offer of reduction of price on next stay. But then was told they had to CHECK into that.. I'd rather the reduction of price than points if you ask me especially if you have less than 5000 pts as of date. Computer systems make errors all the time. If you don't want to honor the guarantee and just say I apologize for the inconvenience rather than trying to shift the mistake of staff and or the system as the hotel was going through emergency test on the systems that morning . Bad experience

Good location to NYC. Blue City Grill was very handy being inhouse. There is a good diner and pizza place within sight of the hotel. Only downside was the heating unit. When it was running it was so loud that you could not hear the tv or have a conversation. Overall good place to stay.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by horrible29 Horrible
The hotel isn't the same as when I rented in 2006. It's run down and the service is horrible. I checked in, when I got to my room the key didn't work. A Tech came up to the room and opened the door with his key to find there was people already in my room. He then gave me another room that has this horrible odor (like wax). NO one called and apologized for the MAJOR mishap. I complained later and was told I'd get 25% off my stay. To find when I left they only wanted to take 12.5% off. I took it, but believe me I'm calling Customer Care. To Find the Manager on call couldn't figure out or count so she still over charged me.

False advertisement. hotel should not be rated a 4+ on a scale of 5.
Lobby does not match room. First impression was great was the lobby. Bedroom did not meet expectations. It was old and so it never looked as clean as it could be. Also, there were very noisy residents who fought. I checked out early wit little concern from the hotel staff. An apology would have been nice . I left and went to a better , cheaper newer hotel.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by wahorhey friendly staff and great continental breakfast--free with my package
Stayed at the Englewood, NJ location twice. Rooms were very clean and hallways were quiet. Bed was very comfortable and heat worked well, although a bit noisy. Staff was friendly enough but not helpful when I told them the keys had to be swiped numerous times to get into the room. She said they were sensitive. Stayed at the same place 2 weeks later and keys still had to be swiped numerous times. Don't know what the problem is. I think the magnetic strips are wearing off. Staying at same hotel but different location (Paramus). We'll see if the keys swipe any better there. Both times I stayed here I did not receive my Priority Club Points. I have the Club looking into it. Otherwise would recommend staying here.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Lesha Definitely worth a stay
This hotel has been our choice for 10 years now. It is a very short trip to Manhattan and is a fraction of the cost of a hotel in Manhattan. It offers free parking and is very quiet. The beds are so comfortable that we researched the brand and actually bought the same bed for our home in Ottawa. The restaurant is average but the staff are very helpful and the town has many fine and inexpensive restaurants.
There are fabulous malls a short distance away if one is interested in shopping. Be careful to check schedules because New Jersey is very conservative about Sunday shopping. The George Washington Bridge is just a few minutes away and very easy access to the island.

I have been staying at the Crowne Plaza Englewood during my husbands medical treatment at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital. He had an LVAD and then a heart transplant 10 months later. My husband wound up passing away during my last stay at Crowne Plaza. However the staff at Crowne Plaza was there for me. During the times that I stayed there, I've become familiar with the staff and they have become my family away from home. They are compassionate, professional and humorous when you need the laughter. I will always remember the staff at Crowne Plaza. A heartfelt thank you.
