My family of four stayed here for 3 nights. This hotel is clean and quite. Loved the view of the river, from the 9th floor. Our queen sized bed was comfortable.The Pool and Hot Tub is AWESOME!! The buffet breakfast was okay, I would have liked it better it there was a bigger selection on the menu. STAFF WAS VERY HELPFUL
Hotel is a 15 - 20 mins walk to downtown Ottawa
WE WILL DEFINITELY COME BACK

I thought the room and hotel was okay.. not great. I felt it was a bit dirty looking. Dark rugs and stuff so you didn't know how clean things were. Then when I was told I could opt out of maid service and save some money, I realized then that room probably wasn't too clean because they were short on staffing. I also got charged double on a movie that I only seen and pressed once. I would have liked a refridgerator. The clock in our room didn't work. I would probably not use this hotel again.

OK – part of this was my fault for not doing all of my homework, but I got little/no help from the hotel staff. Unless you are familiar with the area or speak French (I am doing neither) you would not know that the Hotel is not in the main part of town with the other majors, but rather is across the river in another province – Quebec! My GPS could not find the hotel in Ontario, cause it was no there, rather it was in Quebec! So we had problems finding the hotel and when the front desk would not answer, I finally call the IHG 24hr customer care 800 number.
Upon arriving at the hotel, we find there is no bell-hope (OK, I can have handled my own bags, but one does have certain expectation of a Crown Plaza) and no valet parking (OK< again I can and have parked my own vehicle, but again one has certain expectations of a CP property). It is late so we decide to eat in the restaurant – there is one young lady, who is trying to tend the lobby bar, play restaurant hostess, and both bus and wait on the tables. Really – who is scheduling the staff?
The room was clean and quiet, check out was not a problem. On my next vacation trip to Ottawa (and there is a lot to see there) we will not make the same mistake again.

I spent 3 days in this Hotel.
I fount it very "cost-effective" because I was very close to Downtown Ottawa (a couple of times I even decided to walk to/from Parliament Hill and it took only 25-30 minutes).
I had the "Breakfast included rate" and I enjoyed their great serving every single morning. I think that the rooms are a little "aged" and require some renewal but, overall, the Staff and service were the ones you should expect from a Crowne Plaza stay.
Overall, I was very satisfied.

I got the best value I aver have experienced. I travel to Ottawa for pleasure 2-3 times a year and being in different comparable hotels. I found the best rate and value at the Gatineau Crowne Plaza. Excellent location, excellent service and atmosphere.

I have to say I've stayed at many many hotels and this one was of the worst bed I've ever slept in. It was so thin I could feel the springs poking into my back. Barely got to sleep.
Hope you change your beds soon.

We booked a standard room for our stay in Gatineau without really knowing what to expect. When we came in to check-in, there were 2 women at the front-desk and they seemed a bit in a rush as a few more customers were checking-in. Upon confirming our reservation with one of the ladies, we mentioned that it was our wedding anniversary, and asked if they did anything for that. The woman told us there was nothing that she could do, that we would have to ask her superior (who was right next to her) by phone when we got to our room. My husband later called and talked to Ashley, who was very kind and surprisingly offered us a suite (the last one available!) for our stay! We were extremely pleased with this! The only reason I'm not putting a 5-star review is that it was kind of a hassle for nothing to change rooms, this could have been prevented had we waited to talk to the superior upon checking-in. I understand that the clerk probably didn't want to make us wait, but this could have prevented our 1st room to have to be cleaned again (I had already took a shower before I found out we were changing rooms). Otherwise, thank you Ashley for your great service! Comfortable beds and very lovely rooms, even the standard ones! I also found the hotel to be very clean!

This hotel served me well for my business trip. The location was very good allowing me to walk to my meetings and the room was very clean. The main problem I had was the Air Conditioning. It was always set at 18 and the room never got cooler than 25 degrees. The room faced West so when I got back to the room around 6:00 PM or so, it was extremely hot although housekeeping kept the blinds closed. The A/C system blew very little air so there was not enough circulation to cool the room although the system was blowing at its strongest. It made sleeping uncomfortable because the room stayed warm.
Another thing that surprised me was the early checkout fee. I originally booked 3 nights but my business was concluded after 2 nights so I needed to checkout early. This is the first hotel I have ever stayed in that charged me $50 because I was leaving early, even though I checked out before my agreed upon late checkout time. It was just surprising.

Hotel was quite nice.
Pool, sauna and hot tub were well maintained.
Housekeeping could have been better - I had to go to the front desk for more shampoo.
The only downside was it's not walking distance to most tourist attractions. We took a lot of cabs.
It was an adventure to find an ice machine. Only on every other floor and the first one I found was broken - can't take stairs so it meant repeated trips up/down the elevator.

Stayed here in the middle of July. Made a reservation which I messed up booking the wrong date. Front desk staff arranged a room for the same price. Have stayed here about six or seven times. Always good value.

Hotel is beautiful an immaculate and very clean. Check in was great and fast. Staff is friendly and helpful.
Be aware this is covered parking only. if you drive a truck, there are only 3-5 outside spaces for the entire hotel and no nearby lots. You could have an issue. Height is 6 feet in garage (standard). Also, be aware of the pool hours. 9:30pm during week and 8pm on holidays and weekend. Yes, 8pm on weekend and 9:30 weekdays. Really?......Also be aware the hot tub is restricted to people OVER 16 only. None of this is posted on any website. For those that are hoping to make these amenities part of their trip for the kids....you may need to think again. When I inquired with management as to reasoning, the answer i received was unacceptable and I was not compensated at all for this loss of services. I feel I should have been as there was no way of knowing and the hours here are NOT the 'norm'. I would have stayed somewhere else for the same price with better hours. If you are planning on visiting the national capital region with the family, you may not want to stay here if you want the kids to enjoy these things. There are other comparable hotels with MUCH more accessible hours
The prices in the onsite restaurant are very affordable , which surprised me. I would still give this hotel a very high rating, and if I wasn't traveling with kids, I would certainly stay here again.
|****People, if you get an adjoining room, BE QUIET, you have neighbors!**** The noise all night was unbelievable.

Our stay at Crowne Plaza was excellent. Our room was luxurious, and the service impeccable. The desk staff even went the extra mile when we asked for advice on outings, and printed directions for us.

Lucked out finding this hotel over the Canada Day weekend, the price was great and the room was updated and well appointed. Very nice kitchenette and bed was very comfortable. The A/C is hidden and vents through some slits on the wall near the ceiling so you don't feel the breeze over the bed.
The lobby has a nice waterfall staircase and the staff were all friendly and helpful. If you get the breakfast included, it is a generous and hot spread of breakfast favourites. The walk downtown for the festivities was only about 15 minutes.

Over booking. Room not available at check in. Booked exec 2 bedroom. When the room is not available, front desk said there is a mistake at my confirmation. "Exec" doesn't mean exec 2 bedroom and try to give me regular room and ask me to prove it. Customer need to understand the room description better than the staff. Never have this problem with other hotel. You have to prove it! Not much helping. Thanks for the Internet; finally find the description from the club member page. After proving, then they said no more double bed anyway, but can offer one king with rollaway bed. There is already 1 hour waiting. Okay I took it, then later they said the rollaway bed are also sold out. Again offer something not available at the beginning. Very poor booking and management. If you want to stay there, make sure you have all the description printed and bring it with you. It can be helpful. I will.

I liked my stay at the crown plaza specialy my bed was very cozy and everything else was very good but i did not like the bathrobe that was given to me and for the crown plaza they should have a better robe in the rooms because they have a nice hotel , the restaurent was good i had a good super and the service was execellent and the food was tasty.overall i enjoyed my stay

Overall place was nice, great food, very nice room and the people were very nice too. The only thing is I forgot some important medication. If u forget a shirt, or anything normal, they don't keep it and its normal. But when I called it took a while for them to look, and I guess I was thrown away...

Really enjoyed our stay. Conveniently located, great view. Great recognition as Priority club members.
Room clean and spacious, but not sure about concept of bed without a nice puffy duvet. Otherwise, very pleased and would return.

Group booking was not honoured. Booked two double beds and ended up with a king and a pullout. Was told there would be a fridge....none in room. Front desk staff very rude and unaccomodating when trying to resolve issues. Staff confrontational and dismissive. Lifeguard just as rude with the children and parents. Pool experience not fun due to attitude of lifeguard. Pool closed at 8 o'clock. Room not the cleanest....dust on couch that had to be at least a few months. Garbage not emptied! Tor in the restaurant very accommodating and friendly but that was the only staff member that was.

Great newly renovated facility. Fantastic staff all round: friendly, helpful, worked as a team to solve any request. Best breakfast I have eaten in an Ihg hotel, and the dinner buffet was delicious and perfect for our team.

I got the same service a usually get at a two star hotel. When I got there the room was not wat I expected, they advertised a dog bed fr the room, never got it, the phone wasn't working we have to go downstairs to the front desk several times to fix the problem, the bed sheets were dirty, and the baby crib wasn't ready either all this without the phone to make the complaints. When aware of the situation the staff never apologized to us or offer any special discount or anything to better our staying, and last but not least we receive a pn extra charge in our credit card which now I have to dispute with my bank! I will never stay there again there rates should be much much lower per night.
