Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 Maureen in the Quartermaster Bar was the star of our visit. Have stayed at this hotel on business. I like its location and the quality of the rooms. We had dinner in Glasgow and headed back to the hotel for drinks. We were served by Maureen who was the most kind and genuine person I have met working in a hotel for a long time. I hope the hotel management read this review and reward her for her excellent customer service. June 14, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great hotel and view I stayed in this hotel on a Saturday before going to the Ideal Home Show at the SECC on the Sunday. Great location on the riverside right next to the SECC, nice hotel, good breakfast the only comment I would give is that our room was on the 16th floor, great views but very warm during the night even with the aircon on. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Overall a very pleasant stay. My wife and I had a 4 night stay at the Crowne Plaza at the end of May. As a Platinum member we were upgraded to the Executive floor which afforded lounge access. The room on the 15th floor had a great view and was perfectly adequate for our needs. The lounge staff were very pro-active during our visits and although the breakfast selection wasn't great it was perfectly acceptable considering it was complimentary. The desk staff I noticed were all female which surprised me a bit and carried out their duties to a good standard. Only negative was I wasn't told when asked at check-in if I would like a newspaper in the morning that I would end up paying for it. I only found that out when I asked to see my bill the night before checking out. The hotel is in a great position overlooking the river and has easy access into the centre or for taking the train to Loch Lomond. June 6, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Not so Indulgent Package ! Booking in was busy and noisy due to a coach party arriving at the same time, difficult to hear receptionist but got the jist. Room on 3rd floor spacious - 2 double beds - daughter felt special, usually gets a sofa bed! Lovely thick towels big enough to wrap an elephant in, but only one mini shower gel, lotion and soap between the three of us. Alas wife sadly did not feel so special - bottle of champagne turned out to be a half bottle which was left out on the desk area. It would have been nicer if it had been placed in mini-bar to cool. After a hearty breakfast which was hot and chef kept topping goods up I did not feel special as I was asked to pay for my nights parking and my complimentary newspaper which I ordered turned out to be the ones in a box at reception, hey-ho. All in all a comfortable stay but more of a half indulgent package in places. May 31, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not at all as expected The first contact I had with the hotel was when I called up the day before my arrival, to say I wouldn't be arriving until about 11pm. Receptionist was friendly enough and told me this wouldn't be a problem. When we were driving to the hotel on the day of our arrival, about about 11pm, we were stuck in a queue outside the secc, for 45 minutes! I was totally disappointed and surprised that there is no other access to the hotel. When we told the receptionist about this, he was totally uninterested and rather rude, and told us that it would be empty soon, as if it was our fault for arriving at that time, when we were unaware of this problem. Well that wasn't good enough for us, we had just been sitting there, after a long day. Why wasn't I warned about this when I called the day before? We could've planned around it. And why hasn't another road been planed. Looking at a map, there is space around the back of the hotel, by the carpark, can't they make a road there? We can't be there only people with this issue. When we got to the room, it was fine, however the wallpaper was coming away in the bathroom, and the aircon was so loud it kept me awake half the night! Also, the general cleanliness of the hotel wasn't great in communal areas. The next morning, Nicole on reception was very nice and very helpful, nothing bad to say about her. However the staff at the breakfast station were quite rude, when they couldn't find our name on the breakfast sheet - even though we booked breakfast with the room, months ago. She asked if we arrived late last night, in an accusing tone, as if we shouldn't. Breakfast was good though, good varied choice. The receptionist upon checkout was very blunt, no smile or good wishes which you would expect from a hotel. She looked as if she would've rather been anywhere else. Overall, I will not be going back to this hotel, and would not recommend it. May 31, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice room, great breakfast! Room was very nice with comfortable bed and great view. The breakfast buffet was excellent, with lots of choices including fresh fruit, three types of smoked fish and haggis! May 26, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Birthday Treat We were attending a concert and decided to add an overnight stay. I didn't realise the hotel had a walkway to the SECC so this was a surprise and a good one! Would definitely recommend if you are at a concert as it just made the whole experience better. No queue leaving after the concert just a relaxing walk back to hotel, really good experience. We also had our dinner and breakfast which was of good quality. We didn't have time to use the pool facilities but next stay we will. May 24, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent staff, especialy in restaurant I had an overnight stay here to have an early start to attend a Businesswomerns Conference.in the Hotel I booked on Net. Very easy. No hassle. The room was spacious with all needs taken care of. I had dinner on my own in restaurant and staff were attentive, which was good but i took the Carvery buffet which was not priced on its menu. For three courses it was not cheap at £23.but on up side had a really good selection of salad stuff, hot courses and desserts. However they have a "Special Meal for Two with wine for £29 which seemed very popular with the many couples there. Good views of the River Clyde from restaurant. Ample parking. May 15, 2013
