Disappointed response to an issue

I want to start by admitting this may be a great option if you NEED to be off Finley road in Lombard/Glen Ellyn area. The front staff was super, Dee and others were very nice. The room was clean. My problem came when I left out money on my clothing dresser , next to a book, to be sure I had cash to tip upon checkout the next day. Upon returning to our room, we noticed the money missing. I do not think, unless clearly marked, housekeeping should assume money is theirs unless the guest has checked out or , as mentioned, it is clearly marked. I called and was put in the General Manager's voicemail. The following day, the GM called me and insulted me by being rude. He said they "cater to a corporate guest who often prefer to tip daily" and was verbally condescending while speaking. He mentioned that he was (sarcastically) sorry I was offended and if I was so upset, he could have the housekeeper return the money to me. He was sure to mention that they had no intention of changing anything because most people were fine with their policies. I was offended greatly. I simply was questioning if it was an accident that she took it or if she wasn't aware that she should NOT take it until clear to do so. We travel WEEKLY all over the world. I have NEVER had someone take money unless in an envelope with their name or I have checked out. So, it is not standard policy chain-wide or with other chains either, as far as I know.

Comfortable convenience

Close to Morton Arboretum and other amenities. Does not include breakfast. Courteous staff and hotel personnel made it a decent place to stay
