Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Meh The hotel was nice, but the bed was extremely uncomfortable. I barely slept the whole weekend we were there. The stay did not come with breakfast. When we went to eat at the breakfast buffet the food was not great and for the small amount we had it was $14 per person. For that much I could have had a cheap steak. The elevators took forever and the parking garage was very hard to drive in. It had blind corners that emptied out to where you stood to catch the elevator or stairs. On the plus side the staff was very nice and the rooms were clean. And the AC worked really well. Overall, I would not stay here again. August 13, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Not what I expect from a Crown Plaza Hotel This hotel was a disappointment. We stayed there for our anniversary and was very disappointed about how outdated this hotel was. The customer service at the front desk and at breakfast was below any standard. No one at the fronts desk offerd and help when we ask what there was to do there. When went to to breakfast no one sat us down, but we had plenty of workers look right at us. I can't believe we paid as much as we did for that place. Could have gotten better deals on line at other hotels that were much nicer. August 13, 2014

The restaurant food and staff were great and the prices reasonable. Overall my wife and I rate the hotel very highly four and half out of five. August 7, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Almost Great! I had a very comfortable stay for 3 nights and enjoyed it and the staff immensely. They were very friendly and smiling at all times. The breakfast buffet was very good, too. When I called back and was given the "lost and found" department, I was told they would call me back within 24 hours. I haven't received a call for the past 3 days! Very surprising. I forgot one thing in my room and I guess that now I will never retrieve it. Very disappointing. Oh, well. August 6, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Poor service, unsatisfactory service I checked in on 28 July 2014. I had called on 27 July to confii my reservation and was told I did not have one. One of my coworkers was at the hotel on the 27th and had the front desk check again and they found my reservation. When I arrived on the 28th at approximately 6:00 pm. The front desk said I did not have a reservation. After 10 minutes of looking my reservation was found. The restaurant is operated as what seems as an afterthought in the morning. The sign said they open at 630 but they did not open till 6:40. Food and service items were not available. On 30 July the restaurant opened at 6:30 but there was only staff member putting stuff out and no one else to serve beverages. It was 6:55 before I got something to drink. There was no cereal available till 7:05 and the person preparing eggs to order had not showed by 7:15. On 31 July the restaurant opened at 6:30 but once again there was a lack of staff and preparation. The staff member doing the eggs to order was there when the restaurant opened but disappeared and did not return till 7:10. I would expect things to be ready for service and the restaurant staffed for guest at opening. I did ask the front desk to speak with a manager on 30 July and was told there was no one available till later in the morning. I gave the clerk my room number, 319, and asked to be contacted but was not. Totally unsatisfactory service and far below my expectations and past experiences. August 3, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great views, location, front desk staff Recently stayed at this hotel for a short leisure trip with my adult daughter. The room was lovely, although my bed was a bit slanted, I slept ok. The one MAJOR fault we found was with the restaurant was AWFUL. We ate there the first night on the open deck..the waitress was great, view, atmosphere as well - then the food arrived. The chefs apparently have their own way of frying shrimp, i.e., take from bag, throw into hot oil until shells turn black.....ugh. Terrible. My daughter had room-service scampi later as well - first tasteless scampi she had ever had. Thankfully, there are lots of little restaurants in the area, and we found two that we LOVED, so avoiding the hotel food after that first day was easy!! Front desk staff was wonderful - very friendly and helpful. August 3, 2014

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by No longer stay here We started staying the here in May 2012 and so enjoyed our stay- with our Veterans group we have returned many times. But each time seemed to bring new issues. The location is great- right on the harbor and if you want to pay for the view over the harbor it is worth it. The staff is nice and friendly- but when we book a room that includes breakfast- overpriced for the quality and service- we did not get a breakfast coupon for any stay but one. Our main reason for staying is they are directly around the corner from the Veterans Administration and makes it very convenient for my husband- for his appointments. But each successive stay got worse and worse. One stay there was bus load of kids- so no pool use- it was already filled to capacity. Another time was New Year's eve- we were never offered special New Year's Eve package nor told of any discount on the hotel food. We did meet some great people at dinner but they were complaining about the hotel as well. Next trip we have DIRTY towel and wash cloth stuffed in bathroom sick area. Our last straw. Anthony did call as we were leaving to offer us two free breakfast- but we have not been back since. We now stay at Holiday Inn Express- THEY have customer service to to a science and the breakfast is FREE every day and we LOVED their hot cinnamon buns. Everyone at HIX is top of the line so that is our new IHG go to hotels when traveling- and we have been six times due to the VAMC being close by as well. August 2, 2014

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Bathroom not clean/bed not made daily I was very dissatisfied with the housekeeping of the room I stayed in. When I asked staff for the aromatherapy I received no response. The bathroom shower was not cleaned daily and soap scum was left on the glass shower door leading me to believe that the bathroom was not cleaned thoroughly. The coffee pods for the Keurig machine was not replenished by house keeping and I had to go to front desk for more. Used glasses were not replaced or removed daily. July 22, 2014

The staff was pleasant. The rooms, especially the bathroom, were great. The team enjoyed the pool. The best part of our stay was the plentiful and delicious breakfast. Loved especially the organic oatmeal. And the waitstaff was very friendly. Overall, I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Hampton. July 22, 2014

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Staying here was a HEADACHE! The week we stayed there was basketball tournament being hosted in the area and the hotel was full of young basketball players. Not a problem at all, except that our room was next to the stairwell on the 6th floor and there were kids running up and down the stairwell all night long. It was very loud. The room had dust caked on and in the inside of the air vent in the bathroom and bedroom. Breakfast, don't bother! We went down on our first morning at the hotel for breakfast at 8:30. I was traveling with my toddler and my husband, and I thought that this would be a good option for a quick breakfast. There was literally NO FOOD. We waited for 20 minutes after being seated and all that was restocked on the breakfast buffet was fruit. There were no pancakes, no eggs, no bacon and no oatmeal. All of the food was empty! I asked our waitress if they were making more food, because my son needed to eat and she said she would let the kitchen know. 10 minutes later, she came back and said that the kitchen was working on the food. We waited another 15 minutes and we got up and left. The service I received at the restaurant was extremely poor. I had asked to speak to a manager, and no one came. There were no kids cups and no straws in the restaurant. The ice machines didn't work or they were empty on every floor which is a big deal since there aren't any fridges in the rooms. There is a tub basin but no facuet and no drain plug either. I had to stuff the drain full of wash cloths to give my toddler a bath. Staying here was more of a headache than it was worth! My previous stay in Hampton was 2 years prior. my choice was based on my previous stay at Crowne Plaza, Hampton. Upon arrival I was assured that all billing would be to my AMEX card presented at check-in. I was placed on a so called "quiet floor," it was anything but quiet. On day two my room was neglected by housekeeping totally and after a long day of excursions, it took two visits to the front desk, with a phone call in between the secure fresh linens and towels and toiletries which were handed to me at the desk to carry up and replace them myself. Now I find out that the majority of my billing was applied to a card of my family member who made the reservation. This was totally a very poor experience. July 19, 2014

They were extremely happy to have things to do within walking distance of the hotel. They were a little taken aback by there not being a refrigerator or microwave in the room but we made do. We are looking to staying there again for next years trip to the area. July 14, 2014
