Stayed at this hotel recently. First we were not given the room I had requested back in Feb when I made the reservation. We were moved to 3 different rooms within the first hour of arriving. Each room had something wrong. I made our reservation in Feb for our Aug vacation you would think they would have had time to get it right. Hotel is dirty has a nasty smell about it. Staff is not friendly at all.

Given the location of the hotel, I expected a lot better. I have stayed at other Crowne Plaza properties that were maintained better. I stayed in the Hampton Suite in Hampton, Va. The furniture was old, the carpet was worn and the mattress on the let-out couch did not have any bedding and contained a large stain. For a suite, I did not expect such a poorly conditioned room.

Loved my room that overlooked the bay. I also ate in the outdoor restaurant that had live music, overlooked the water and some of the best fried clams I have ever had. The staff was very friendly and made me feel welcome. I will be back.

My shower was lukewarm, while the sink had hot water. Maintenance came and said the shower handle was broken inside, so it would not adjust. They could not fix it until the water to the entire building was cut, because there were no shut-offs for individual showers. Maintenance called the front desk and got me moved to a room with a functioning shower.
In the new room, the sink drain would not open and close. It let the water out slowly. I reached under the sink and found that the sink drain plunger was not connected. As in the sink in my own home, vertical movement of the control connects to a horizontal rod, which in turn moves the stopper up and down. The horizontal rod was broken off (I could feel a sharp broken piece) and was missing. I called the front desk, but I was not in a hurry to have it fixed because I was about to leave on a tour. As I was waiting for the tour bus, I met the maintenance man and told him of the problem in the new room. He said that teen-agers are rough with drains and sometimes break the levers off. I stayed at the hotel for 3 nights but the drain never did get fixed.
I forgot to tell them that the sliding glass doors at the first room seem to have been installed wrong, or were malfunctioning, because only one side moved. If you were outside the shower with the door closed, the handle was inside the shower (on the wrong side of the glass) and it was difficult to open the shower door.
The flush toilet stopper at the second room was slowly letting water out, so it re-filled every few hours with quite a noise. I forgot to mention that one, either.
The smoke alarm battery outside my room was running down, and it was "cheeping" every twenty minutes or so. I called the desk and the smoke alarm was fixed quickly.
My impression was that poor quality plumbing fixtures were installed and that routine maintenance was not given a high enough priority.

The room (201) needs some attention. The carpet was frayed and needs to be replaced.
The Breakfast Buffet is excellent! Your omlette cook makes the most delicious omlettes I have ever eaten, and I consider myself somewhat of an omlette officianado. Whatever you are paying her isn't enough

Had to switch rooms twice. First room had the strong odor of a Cigar Bar which was unpleasant. The second room we were placed in had a very uncomfortable mattress, for both me and my wife, terrible night sleep, it had no refrigerator in place and the remote for the t.v was not working. I've travel a lot for various reasons but this Hotel seems to fall short in a lot of minor details that should just come second nature to a major hotel chain.

Hotel has a great location if working with city or if you want to be near the water. Very friendly staff but building is a bit dated. Also a bit of a hassle using the parking garage which is in a different building than the hotel.

All of the service associates from the front desk to the bell hop were very personable and helpful---it made up for the poor water pressure from the shower :-)

Our door to our room would not latch the first night, for 3 people 2 bath towels, ice machine wasn't working, for as an expensive hotel as it was, no fridge, microwave or DVD player in the room. Would not stay there again. For a Crown Plaza I expected better service! There wasn't even a hair dryer in the room. Staff I felt didn't even care.

I was surprised to learn how old this hotel is, it does not look it. Very comfortable beds though I did have to fight the thermostat to keep the room from being too cold.

I was so excited to get such a good deal on a Crowne Plaza location but was overall disappointed in my stay.
The lobby was nice and though we got there early and there were no rooms available, the front desk staff called us about 30 minutes later to say that they had a room and we could check in early. That was awesome because we have a 4-month old who needed to be changed and fed and to take a nap!
Unfortunately, when we stepped off the elevator, we were overwhelmed with a horrible smell that smelled like a combination of mildew and urine. Our room smelled less offensive but still didn't smell good.
The room was dirty - fingerprints/handprints all over the headboard, brown stains on the base boards, shower head was coming out of the wall, etc. Also, I'd forgotten my shampoo and conditioner but we were only there one night so I decided to use the samples they leave on the sink. Well, I got in the shower and discovered that the shampoo was almost empty! Who recycles those little samples??? I've never experienced this at any other hotel in my life!
Also, the bed was very uncomfortable (and I can usually sleep anywhere).
Finally, my husband went to get ice and had to go to 5 of the 8 floors before he found an ice dispenser that actually had ice! That is ridiculous. Especially for a facility that is supposed to be a middle or upper end hotel chain.
We were granted a late check out as requested so I really appreciate the staff accommodating us so much with the check in/check out process. However, that's about the only positive thing we can say about this hotel experience.

When we made the reservation, we were told that we could request and receive a refrigerator in the Hospitality Suite and some guests were told that they could get one on request. Staff at hotel made it clear that no refrigerators were available, even for those who needed it to store medical drugs (insulin). The problem is that we were lied to initially.
The banquet hall had water dripping from the ceiling in several places and the staff kept assuring us it would be taken care of before the dinner for 270 people. The water continued dripping and some of the chairs were wet when guests arrived. That is poor service.

We visited the hotel restaurant last Friday evenng with the matriarch of the family who is 100+ years of age. Our waitress, LYDIA, was especially friendly and accommodating.. She made our experience very pleasant. We also met the chef and a couple of other staff who stopped to greet our family matriarch. The food was also very tasty and enjoyable. Overall, it was a wonderful experience.

Had issuses with handicap accessibility. The hotel does not have portable toilet seat lifts. Their handicap accessible rooms are king only. Requested a wake-up call @ 6:15 a. m.; however, the call was received @ 5:55 a.m. Sleep Advantage Program was no where to be found in our room, one of the beds was leaning, newspaper was not delivered. Although much of this is stated as a norm on the webpage, it was not avaliable. Front desk clerk wrote down information of the Messages Guests in-House & Due Arrival form. (Safety and Confidentiality issue)
Odd smell in hallway. Ice machine on floor was not dependable.
Although the hotel says on their webpage........"With comfort and convenience our first priority" I cannot agree, especially with the above mentioned experiences.

We had a nice stay at this hotel. The location is good and easy to get to everything in Hampton as well as the surrounding areas.
I am sorry to say the staff was not the nicest I have ever met. We had a suite with a huge kitchen but no microwave and no fridge. It did not make sense at all. When we asked about this nobody could give us a direct answer and we finally gave up asking. They should have made the bathroom bigger and the kitchen smaller as there was really no use for it without the proper equipment.
Other than that the room had a nice view except we had a bird that kept flying into the window all day long every day and could not get it to stop.
The breakfast was good and definitely more than enough. Overall a good stay with some minor hick-ups. Staff can definitely be more friendly.

When I checked in the lobby was appealing but as soon as I turned the corner to go to the elevators the mess began. The floors and public areas were not well kept up. I payed extra for a view and you had to stretch to see it and the hotel was not nearly full. The hallways on our floor smelled so bad I was nauseated and was going to ask to be moved. However I checked the other floors and they were the same. My room only smelled a little and I sprayed cologne to live with it overnight. I was so disappointed with the beds, they were lumpy and very uncomfortable. Then to top it off the water temp was barely warm. I have NEVER written a bad review about any hotel. However when I got this email I couldn't help myself. I should have asked for my money back and gone someplace else.

The staff was quite friendly and helpful. The room was clean although somewhat dated. There were only3 things that made for less than good ratings . One, the maid service started late in the day (1700), after a day at work not a good thing. Two, limited shopping in the area ( one 7-11) and a limited number of restaurants near by. Three, the ice machines on each floor were unreliable and you had to go to the bar (when it was open) to get a small amount of ice. All in all I would stay there again.

Great hotel with very comfortable beds and nice linens, BUT it was really loud. I could hear the people in the next room talking (in normal volume) as if they were standing in my room. Also, I very much dislike not having a fridge or microwave in the room, and my room didn't have a hairdryer.

Their was no ice in ice machines. It took to long for the maid to clean rooms. After 5pm is not acceptable. The maid had no bath towels on Saturday at 5pm. No microwave ovens or Refrigerator in rooms. It took entirely to long to be check in. On Friday it was after 5:30pm Over all service was poor. I will never stay at your hotel again not unless you inprove the service.

Overall, our experience here for four nights was good. Check-in was prompt and efficient, parking was convenient and easily accessible and the included breakfast was excellent (particularly our waitress Whitney). However, there is room for improvement. For example, this was the first hotel we ever stayed in without a refrigerator in-room. When we asked about it (thinking it was only our room without one), we were told that none of the rooms had them and the staff member offered no further explanation. Other minor things that could have been improved such as providing enough sets of towels (from the outset) for all of the members in the room. We booked a room for four people and were given three sets of towels, necessitating that we request an additional set each time they were needed or replaced. Another example was that our shower did not drain adequately. Two requests were made and it the problem was addressed, but we were left with two shower doors off-track (which we fixed ourselves). These minor inconveniences marred our stay, resulting in a "Good" rather than "Excellent" rating.
