They gave advice regarding attractions and even took care of my grand-daughters concern about some stray kittens at the entrance to the parking area. Restaurant wait staff was on- top of their game. They ensured we received immediate seating and made recommendations regarding our food choices. Food was delivered hot and a eye appealing - WELLDONE. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by So much for the quiet area! We scheduled a three night stay at this location and ask for the quiet area. We were placed in the quiet area however, so were families with children that ran constantly up-and-down the halls until almost 10 PM. We started our stay on Wednesday evening and completed it Saturday morning. When we checked out the lady at the desk acted as if it was okay for these families to have been in the quiet area. We got the very distinct impression that rooms were grouped for booking regardless of the zone, in order to maximize the compression of tenants and therefore making it easier for housekeeping to do their daily chores. There were several areas of the hotel where no one was occupying. Needless to say, we will not stay there again and will probably drive the distance to Charlotte in order to ensure our quality of stay. The staff failed to appropriately address these issues and therefore sent us away feeling less than appreciated for our stay.. December 3, 2013

The staff was extremely friendly and very helpful, from the front desk staff to the staff in the restaurant where we ate breakfast. I would definitely stay here again. November 19, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not Happy I arrived at 1:45 pm and was told my room was not ready. I left and returned at 2:30 - still not ready. I had informed the clerk that I had a class at 3pm and would like to check in before, but I was told Sorry. I had to check in late and was put in a building behind the main hotel. The room was nice but I had to take my bathing suit to the pool and change in the bathroom because it was freezing outside. I swam with a few other people until 10:30 even though 10 was closing time. We were all quiet and I didn't get checked in until 9:30 anyways so I wanted my relaxation time. I went into the sauna to dry off and warm up before dressing in clothes and a jacket to go back across the street to my room when I realized someone had come in and turned off the lights to the pool area. My clothes were sitting on a table as plan as day and they didn't bother checking to see if anyone was in there. Thank God they didn't lock me in! After I got to my room I went to shower and saw a dried up washcloth hanging over the shower curtain rod - disgusting! The next day after going out for breakfast my keycard didn't work - again I got Sorry. The clerks were apathetic and I would never recommend this hotel. I have gotten compensated for far less problems in other hotels without even asking for it. This hotel was ridiculous - and by the way - who closes their bar at 10pm on a Saturday night? Crowne Plaza - that's who! I mean really - I just wanted a class of wine to relax after the stress caused by the hotel staff!!! And by the way, I am an IHG rewards club member - like that did any good! November 14, 2013

The hotel is undergoing some renovations so finding your room can be a challenge, but the staff was happy to point you in the right direction. The room was clean and the bed provided one of the best nights sleep that my husband and I have had in a long time. The bed was so comfortable and the mattress and pillows were top quality for sure! Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Mistake-Free Visit, Comfortable and Competent Visit was several nights, for relaxation, golf, and furniture shopping. My overall experience is that it was completely, 100%, mistake-free. Is that damning with faint praise? Maybe, I don't think so. Yes, a couple of features are due for a makeover/upgrade. We didn't have a manager's wine tasting, warm cookies after dinner, mints on the pillow. But so what? The hotel staff service was literally flawless, attentive without being pushy or stuffy. The cleaning crew was kind and responsive. The linen was clean and soft. No surprises, no drama, clean, comfortable, convenient. Exactly what I was looking for. October 23, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Hotel nice, found dirty sheets I want to start by saying that the hotel staff was very kind and helpful. The night we stayed was a very busy one and the hotel was booked. After dinner my wife and I went to our room, she took a shower while I watched the news. This room was directly facing a very large intersection in the road and it was a busy traffic night. The noise was awful, but we knew that it should quite down soon and we just dealt with the noise. We turned down the bedding to find what was our horror! There were several dirty spots in the sheets about the size of golf balls and this was unacceptable! After visiting the front desk and was given replacement sheets, I return and we pulled those dirty ones off only to find that the padded mattress cover had bloody spots on it! October 22, 2013

I needed some extras such as early check-in and the staff was able to accomodate all of my needs. The hotel is also very conveniently located to the area's amenities. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Favorite Holiday Inn in NC I travel all over NC. The Hickory Crowne is my favorite in NC. I've stayed at this hotel at least 10 times and. Love the sleep kit they have and have used the linen spray for years. One of the best mattresses ever slept on. I never stay anywhere in Hickory but the Crowne. Some of the staff in restaurant and lounge have been there for at least the 5 years I've been staying. October 18, 2013

The beds and pillows were extremely comfortable and clean.We did not try the restaurant so I have nothing to say about that. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel. Make sure you ask for one of the newly remodeled rooms though. They were in the process of remodeling the place. October 17, 2013

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good...but I liked the until the cleaning lady "decided and make the call" that I was no longer at the hotel, so when I returned at night the room was empty no curtain shower, no towels, no bed sheets, etc; so when I call front desk they told me that I was checked out earlier, when I ask them by whom they say the cleaning now you now who runs this hotel. There was a group of women that were having some sort of religious retreat at the hotel and they were incredibly loud very early in the morning. It was obnoxious. October 2, 2013

The hotel was beautiful, very clean and had an extremely helpful employee, Allen. My room was everything I want in a hotel room and more! The conference room was very nice and the food was GREAT!! I asked for a room I had stayed in before and they arranged for me to have that room. The room and bed were very comfortable, but the pillows were the best of all! The staff of The Crown Plaza couldn't have been more helpful with shopping tips and transporting me both to and from the Hickory Furniture Mall. After a full day of shopping ( 9 AM to 6 PM) I enjoyed spending my evening at the hotel. As a woman traveling alone I felt comfortable at the bar eating casual food with a glass of wine with a kind and protective bartender, Judy. This is an excellent facility and I would recommend The Hickory Crown Plaza to anyone. September 11, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful room and very nice staff, but.... I would have given this hotel excellent ratings, but because the toilet was SO low to the ground, I can not. I felt it was almost dangerous. I had to wheel the office chair into the bathroom to have a crutch to help me up. My first attempt almost had me falling on the floor. I have stayed in less luxury but had decent height commode. I would not go back there or recommend it. Plus around 3 a.m. Loud people came through the hall with what sounded like a dog. This woke me up and the man in the room next to me started yelling for them to shut up. Not very nice at all. August 21, 2013

I called the front desk and they said this is a problem every weekend. They were kind enough to bring us ear plugs. The only way I would stay there again is to have an inside room. From the afternoon bartenders to the front desk staff, all were very pleasant and accommodating. Even the room service was good and the food delicious.
