Terrible, terrible, terrible Scrambled eggs not fully cooked and runny. All items on the buffet were room temperature or colder. I didn't try the cook to order omelets, Wait staff were not attentive once they initially seated you.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by DisappointedOct2013 Busness Stay
The staff at the front desk were exceptional - very professional.
The hotel restaurant (not the attached "sports" bar) on Sunday evening was awful. The staff seemed like they never worked in a restaurant before. One of the waitress' phones kept ringing, when asked about their wine list the waitress actually gasped (she couldn't find them from the day before), I had to ask for a glass for my canned soda and for bread plates, one of our appetizers stayed on the table the entire meal although the wait staff took other items off, the food and service were bad!
The room was clean but old. A picture in the bathroom fell off the wall and broke. There were large pieces of wall in the bathroom peeling off. The air conditioning only worked on high and you could not adjust the temp. Old, rundown hotel.

My overall our stay was good. I would recommend the Crown Plaza to others. The bed was very comfortable. Loved the breakfast buffet, it was so convenient and good. The shuttle to MDA was great. When going back & forth to MDA for days at a time, its really nice to be able to just get on the shuttle and not worry about parking.

We ordered room service but they forgot our room number. One and a half hour later, after I called, they brought it. Sent a free desert but I think they should have taken off some of the bill.
Also we stay there a good bit but the bathrooms are too dark to see to put on makeup. You really need bright lights in the bathroom, I like the magnifying mirror but could not use it because the bathroom was too dark

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by TiredandSleepy Too loud for sleep.
This was our second stay within a couple of months and we hoped the loud noises of our first stay were a one time occurrence. Not so lucky, our second stay was worse than our first. Outside road noise was loud but we may have been able to sleep through some of it if it wasn't for the loud water pipe vibration noises made every time someone around us flushed their toilet or used the sink/shower. We did not get one hour of sleep without the loud vibration noise interruption. Thought about moving to another room, but we figured since our last stay was loud as well it would not have made a difference. We would not recommend this hotel. The hotel needs some updating and maintenance. We do not usually write reviews, however, due to this hotel's location near the medical center we wanted to let people know that if a good night's sleep is important to them, do not stay here.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Neelie48 Great service, food great and rooms top notch!
I was in Houston for Medical reasons. Being away from home is difficult but if you want to feel like you are in an atmosphere as comfortable and homey as home, this is the place. Great night sleep in this bed. Everything spotless. Food was great and customer service was outstanding. This will be my hotel of choice when staying in Houston!

Location is good when needing to go to Reliant Park although the parking lots are locked which means walking is further than it looks. Stayed in a jr. suite which was spacious and comfortable. Housekeeping did a good job. Room service was excellent for breakfast and dinner. Food was good and delivered promptly. Best room service I've had in a while. Kudos to those in the kitchen. Only negative was that even though remodeled, you can tell how old the place is because there are wide gaps around the doors. Halls smelled like bug spray which may be the reason we had a huge waterbug on the wall one night and a spider on the wall in the bthroom one morning.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Moose911 Good stay, helpful staff
I had an issue with the people in a room next door that apparently didn't understand that you can't scream at each other all day without drawing attention to yourself, and when I asked the front desk to move my room they did immediately without hesitation. The hotel is super close to Reliant stadium and has a nice relaxing bar. Two things of note, it is an older hotel but relatively clean and well kept and two, a hotel of this caliber should at least have satellite or something in the bar area that offers multiple football games both college and pro...I watched numerous people come in expecting to watch a particular game (like myself) and all were disappointed.
Overall stay was good, they also had 24hr security in the parking lot. I would stay again.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Travelgal73 A few problems
First I'll say the staff was quick to correct the issues which made me feel a bit better.
The two problems I had were the following:
1. Sheets, comforter and towels smelled like they were left in the washer for a while before they were dried....very musty.
I had two beds so I moved to the second. The second was a small bit more tolerable but still was a long night. The new sheets smelled better but the new towels had to be part of the bad batch.
2. The door would not open. On the second night I got in late from work and was loaded down with dinner and briefcase. Made it to my door and no entry. The key wouldn't work. I was too tired to go down to the front desk so I found a phone next to the elevator and requested a key be brought up. After 15 mins security arrived only to discover that the batteries for the lock were dead. An engineer had to be called for batteries.
The property is huge and I think some fundamental elements are being missed. Additionally, house phones should be increased around the property.

The room size was fine. The beds are not pillow top, the are called king coils. I only stayed here because of a conference. The neighborhood is not safe for somebody to wander/walk around after dark. The entire grounds are fenced with one way in and one way out.there is a below star china diner next door but I wouldn't wander over there. I had lunch (hotel knew of our conference), they gave us a menu of 5 items with about 80 ppl to serve. I got mine on time -turkey melt) but a lot of our group didn't get their meals on time and was late getting back ( state ce requirements for attendance big prob). The next day they were more prepared after our complaint from the day before.
I like free wifi. Pool was nice - BUT the staff did not restock towels for new ppl. No hot tub.
I probably will not stay here again.

Unfortunatley, the Crowne Plaza disappointed. I was there as a participant in a two day conference. The hotel in general is tired, outdated and not prepared to handle groups of 50 or more apparently.
Meals were so-so, and wait staff so slow that eating in the restaurant proved to be untenable if you wanted to be back in time for the post-lunch sessions.
The icing on the cake was the dirty mens Haines underwear in my closet which I found while packing to go home!
Nope, would not recommend a stay at this establishment...

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Katy506 Hotel Nice But....
I stayed here for the first time and was impressed with the property and furnishings....more lavish than expected. The size of the furniture in the room (king bed) kind of overwhelmed the small space of the room. The bed was very tall and my being short presented an irritating challenge of getting into bed. You think they might offer a step stool but don't. Room service was prompt maybe too prompt because the food was not that good. I probably would not stay here again but rather try somewhere else.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Rod00 A little more attention to detail
I have stayed here before and enjoined the stay. This time I stayed two nights. I am Platinum Priorty member. The price of this hotel is very reasonable.
The front desk "upgraded" to a pool side room. The hotel was not booked full and I could tell there was no one else on my floor, but they put me in the last room at the end of the hall overlooking the roof of the first floor. No problem if the place was booked but I could tell by the parking lot, these rooms where the furthest from the lobby and there where no cars..
I ate at the Resturant the first night and the meal was very good, had the pork chop. The next night I ordered a hamburger, again service was good, but the burger was gross. The ground beef was poorly ground and it was stringy. Not good.
Blankets on the bed are not comfortable the feel like 1960 bed spread.
I would like to say here again based on location and price and hope it will be a better experience.
Staff were very helpful and nice,

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by rpanneton Do not stay at this property
I am surprised that Crowne Plaza puts their brand on this hotel. My stay was awful. I had a room outside of their main tower (which I hear have the nicer rooms). When I got to my room, after walking through a hot and musty staircase, I was unpleasantly surprised. The walls had visible dirt on them, the bathroom was small and had mildew in the shower. The carpets looked and smelled dirty. I, nor my wife, felt comfortable enough to walk around the room without shoes on.
For the rate paid, I would not recommend this hotel. I stayed here while I was taking the Texas Bar Exam and I regret it. In addition to the issues with the room, the wake-up calls never came on time. I asked for a 6am wake-up and the calls came at 6:10, 6:15, and 6:12. Luckily I had my phone alarm set as a back-up. When I brought this to the staff's attention, they did not seem to care about the issue.
While I am talking about the staff- my key stopped working twice, which required me to go to the desk to get it reactivated. They acted like doing this was a huge inconvenience for them and had no thought that this was a huge inconvenience for me as well.
For a Crowne Plaza hotel, I am very disappointed. I will not stay at this hotel in the future and I will not recommend it.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by ladyblu Older but clean and great customer service!
This hotel was assigned by the booking department of the hospital when I was looking for a place to stay. It had a nice discounted rate for the patients. I now live in BCS so I did not want to have to drive in nor did I know what my initial visit with the Clinic would involve so I booked 3 nights. As things turned out I only needed 1 night but the hospital had scheduled appointments for the next week so the front desk graciously re booked my extra nights for the following week with a smile.
I do have to give a shout out to one employee who truly represented quality customer service and that was Isaiah a server in the Restaurant. When I arrived I had been up all day travelling and in the hospital had not eaten. We went to the restaurant in the hotel to find they were closed but the bar would be able to serve us. The bar was not and I was miserable. There are plenty of eating places around the hotel so it would have not been a problem getting something but I was so TIRED and just didn't have the energy to go anymore. Anyway this dear man made arrangements to stay and serviced us a hot wonderful meal. His kindness will never be forgotten. I look forward to more visits to this establishment because of such fine customer service.

Had a great view of Reliant Stadium. Beds were so comfortable I didn't want to check out. Staff was very friendly and attentive, and the hotel was extremely clean. They have a full time security guard staying by the only entrance, which really makes you feel safe parking you car on their property. Will definitely stay here again!

We just recently were recommended to this hotel. We travel often to Houston for visits to MDA - the shuttle service is right on time, the staff are friendly, the rooms are clean, and the breakfast is included in the room fee, and it is a great breakfast - We won't stay anywhere else now that we have found the Crown Plaza.

Normally don't write reviews, but due to my initial concern regarding all the negative reviews when booking, almost didn't book, felt I had to provide. My wife and I had a great time. We stayed in the tower section, had a great room, and very good service. Excellent location since we were attending a sporting event at Reliant on Saturday. Checked in Friday night, good check in time/service, found our room clean and great. Ordered room service late Friday, arrived quick and food was great (good burgers). AC worked great, wasn't noisy, overall great experience. Enjoyed the night life in the Rice village area (close) and even the hotel bar was pleasant. Would stay here again.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Nets Good name and location, poor maintance and care
We picked this hotel because of the location and price and good experiences with the chain brand but...
1 the hotel was old and decorated to try to hide the poor maintance and awful care the place received to try to update it.
2 noise level
3 fair to poor service
For example. Toilet that ran a very long time and was very noisy, air conditioning that could not be regulated and was very noisy, shuttle that ran on its own time table not at times it was needed, no vending machines on floor only in area that was closed and isolated.drunk customers that woke up people

I seriously considered pulling mattress to floor, but room was too small.
Reataurant was fine, food good. All employees friendly and helpful.
Very nice attractive property and lobby.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 stay here every time you come to Houston
Every time we have to come to Houston for medical visits, this is the only place we go! The staff, including front desk staff, Paul and Angela all, go above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. The shuttle bus drivers are super sweet, Edward is THE BEST WAITER, the pool is huge, the breakfast is hot, the rooms are clean, the beds are soft with cuddly sheets, why stay anywhere else!?
