I realize fully that this is a waste of my time. But, the location of the hotel and the price drive me to stay there, nothing else. I have to take my wife to Houston frequently to get treatment at MD Anderson. The hotel staff there alternates between good and awfrul. On this trip, they were pretty darn good. The room is always marginal at best for a Crown Plaza. I stay at them all over the world in my work and this one is the absolute most run down place. That shocks me given the location to hospitals and the the Reliant stadium. Needs some serious renovating and work with the staff. The worse without reserfvation restaurant I've even seen is in this hotel. They're awful, dirty most days and there is absolutely no service to be had. I have no idea how many nights I've spent here the past 2 years but it must be 60 or so...I'm qualified to rate this joint. I'm a Platinum member and they never recognize me but they sure do give me a hard time when I check in early or ask for the type room I want.

My experience at CROWN PLAZA Reliant / Medical Centers was most enjoyable. From the front desk, the restaurant staff and especially the shuttle bus drivers were most helpful and accomodating. I will definitely be staying again and recommending to my friends.

i was very upset that the shower head was leaking , it was leaking over the ceiling. i did not have a microwave or fridge . i was supposed to , the elevator was not working , the air conditioner went out on sat . i found this hotel to be a very low standard.the food at lunch time was very bad. the juice was poor the tea was not sweet. the best part of the trip was the door men and front desk staff . they was very nice . my tv remote stop working.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by lanceandamanda Good room, small bathroom
We checked in to the Hotel, the staff was very friendly and helpful. Are room was located in the "tower", unfortunately are room was on the 2nd floor. The view was of the back of the facade, no big deal, just kinda a bummer. We received 2 phone calls from the desk checking to see if everything was ok.
The bathrooms were designed by a very small, short person. I'm 6'1" and if i stood on my tip toes my head would have touched the ceiling. The bathroom mirror is so low for me to shave i had to bend over to see myself. Overall the room is good, the bed was comfortable. If you stay here the tower room was ok.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by ERA1 Review of my Crown Plaza Stay
Overall, 2 of 5 (of the Crown Plaza's I've stayed at)
Room & Comfort:
- Room was dark & lighting didn't adequately brighten it up.
- Not adequately clean...night stand had a powder residue on it
Atmosphere & Ambiance
- OK, but did show signs of age..."caked on paint" on doors leading to north end rooms, water system "groaned" during showers
Staff and Service
- Checking in was good, would have liked to hear "thank you" upon checking out though
- Restaurant was expensive and low quality..."lettuce wedge" salad was the lettuce butt, server had to be on his first night on the job (& had never been a waiter before)...had to ask for silverware, had to ask for my complete meal (portions missing)
- Fitness center equipment inoperative...one treadmill was off-line w/out notice and second treadmill broke midway through my exercise.
- Priced above value
Oh, one more, when filling out info below, at 3 characters my was too short. Really?

The hotel was very nice. It was convenient to the seminar at the events center and was very clean and attractive inside and out.
The restaurant lacked alot as to service and quality. I hope that gets better soon as it is so nice to eat in. My meal was fine but my co-worker's was not. The wait staff seemed fairly handicapped in knowing their job as to excellent service.

Began staying here back in the 80's and they've made a good attempt to keep up with the times, but the property is "tired". It would be a second choice unless I were going to Reliant for something. I hate giving bad ratings to a property but I probably won't be returning unless I'm going to a football game, etc. I "HAD" to stay here because the downtown area @ medical center was full that particular evening and this was my only choice. I will say though that the staff was extremely accommodating and did everything to make it a good stay.....sorry guys, but given another choice, I'll stay elsewhere!

I have stayed at this location many times and have always had a good experience. it is easy to get to, access to highways is right at the front door and it is in a part of town not too congested. The rooms are clean and the staff is friendly. I always try to stay here when I am in the area. I would recommend the hotel to anyone.

I needed to travel to Houston to the medical center. My husband made the reservations. Due to Thanksgiving holidays I was not able to check reviews until 3 days later. I was appalled at the terrible reviews. I did NOT want to stay there, but my husband said we would just take a look when we got there. Upon arrival the outside looked good, but I was leery. Upon check in I was relieved to know we had a room in the 1,000’s knowing that was the Tower. We did get a room on the second floor and I did remember seeing a bad review of that. The room looked fine, but it was facing the highway and had a view of the roof. (pictured) We asked to be changed for a better view and got moved to the 4th floor. The room was identical. I was hoping we would have a view of the pool, but we got a view of the roof as well as other roofs. BUT we were able to see Reliant Stadium (pictured). Better than 610 loop! I felt a lot better seeing the room was clean and COOL…the air worked fine. We roamed around and took pics for Trip Advisor.
I had read on the website the bar had Happy Hour every day. Well, it’s happy, but beverages are not! No ½ price drinks here; BUT they do have free appetizers. They had a small table with fresh fruit and chicken wings. Not bad.(The free appetizers were not mentioned on the website and were not mentioned by the hotel clerk.)
We ate at the Stetson restaurant for convenience. It was overpriced and not very tasty. (We did have an energetic waiter named Eduardo who seemed to love his job!) My husband had the fajitas and said they were not bad. Since I was having surgery the next morning I was told to eat hearty since my surgery would be late. Nothing appealed to me so I had the Cobb salad thinking I could not go wrong. IWAS wrong. It was not tasty at all. My advice is to skip the restaurant and go back and eat more chicken wings.
That evening I happened to look at the hotel website again and noticed they had packages with free breakfast or free dinner. I called the clerk and he said since I had the medical discount I would receive free breakfast. (not mentioned by the hotel clerk again.) The breakfast was ok. It was a buffet. They had plenty to offer: eggs, hash browns, grits, bacon, sausage, biscuits, gravy, fresh fruit, yogurt and pastries. It wasn’t seasoned, but most buffets aren’t. It was hearty.
The fitness center is very nice and rather large. (I did not have the opportunity to use the machines, however.) The hallways were clean. The outside area is nice with a waterfall and walkway. We did not see the big pool but I know there was one. The area around the small pool (pictured) looked old. I feel that is where the bad reviews come in.
We did not have any trouble with the elevators. Our room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Yes, the bathroom was small, but clean. A newspaper was provided every morning. The first day we had a delivery and received 2 bottles of water, 2 homemade cookies (oatmeal raisin and peanut butter..my favorites) and a plate with a small chocolate cake tied up in ribbons. I had no complaints with that!
The staff was very friendly. I visited with 3 different clerks. I have stayed in better hotels but I don’t think this place deserves such a bad rap based on my trip.

One of the best hotel breakfasts - combination of buffet and personal service in a pleasantly more formal setting than most hotels...just be sure to get your breakfast tickets for all days at check-in so you don't have to wait at the counter for them each morning.
Rooms are all very nice, housekeeping and maintenance better than most, beds sleep very well.
They do have rooms with sink/counter outside bathroom if you are like us and cherish every moment of sleep you can get...saves time getting ready in the morning.
A great treat to stay in room for dinner and order room service from the Cattleman's onsite restaurant...food is excellent.
Generally you'll pay a little more at this hotel than the express hotels, but here you actually get a little more.
Need more people at the front desk when there is a line.

The check-in experience was great. Lunch and a beer, in the Lounge were good, as was the atmosphere.
The furniture in the room was old and some was broken. The bed was comfortable.
Went to dinner, in the restaurant and was sorely disappointed. Most tables did not have table clothes on them. Several tables had not been cleared from previous diners but somehow the staff found time to stay out of site and shoot the proverbial bull. The ambiance was non-existent. My waiter was good.
Overall, this property has a long way to go, to meet average to above average expectations.
While the staff was great, the property, overall, was a disappointment and a direct reflection on the General Manager.

When showering in the morning, be prepared to lose all water pressure and then be blasted with scalding hot water for almost a minute before the temperature returns to normal. (toilets flushing?) Not the best way to start a day.
Overall not as pictured, but the shower was nearly unbearable.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Linda1982 Terrible Service - Very Unappy Guest
My stay was terrible at best. The rooms were dirty and smelled mildewed. There were old trays of food left in the hallways for 2 days in a row. There was no room service to speak of. No movies or games available in rooms. Not even a soap dish for the hand soap in the restroom. There were events happening on property and there were NO parking spaces available for us (and we were booked and paying customers). I had to park my car on the street until 2:00 a.m. When I finally got a parking spot. There were police all up and down the halls breaking up some kind of a party in a room that had about 50 people in it. We got NO sleep due to all the loud partying going on in the rooms. The shuttle bus that took us to the Nutcracker Market took 1 1/2 hours to get us back to the hotel which was 10 minutes up the street. All in all I was deeply dissatisfied with all aspects of my stay. I don't believe that I will ever stay at this facility again and I am a Priority Club Member.

I booked 2 dbl non smoking rooms at the Crowne Plaza Hotel near the Reliant Center in Houston Texas. This was at least the 4th time I booked here and was always very satisfied with my stay until now. I have always booked my reservations at least 2-3 months before arrival. I was never aware that the hotel had 4 buildings. (In past, I was always in the main building). Once I checked in, I was sent through 4 buildings before I arrived at my room. The room smelled of old, musty, smoking odor. I had brought air freshener from previous stay at Crowne Plaza (didn't have any in my room this time) and it helped the smell. When I called the desk to question my room, they offered me complimentary breakfast. That evening, when I returned to my room, I had trouble with the bathtub fixture. It was stuck on hot water and about to overflow when maintenance arrived to shut it off. When ready for bed, the remote control would not work. (weak batteries) and clock on nightstand was broken. Also, when I returned to the hotel for the night, I spent at least 30 minutes looking for a parking spot (this happens every year). I called for a shuttle to pick up my group at the Reliant Center the next evening and it took them an hour to arrive, then we passed up the hotel and rode the shuttle for another hour before arriving back at the hotel. (Never had this problem in previous stays) As you can tell, I was very dissapointed with my accomodations this year. I had brought along family and friends & didn't appreciate the service we got. Should I book here next year, I will specify that I will not stay in any other building except for the main building.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Ralph62 comfortable bed, small rooms
The room was small but comfortable. I was disappointed that there was no refrigerator in the room. I had a problem with noisy neighbors next door but the staff attended to the problem and the noise was stopped. I currently have two unexplained charges on my credit card and have called and left a message with A/R but have not been contacted as yet. My first message was left on 11/11 and most recent today. There is never a person to answer the call, only voice mail. The stay was uneventful, the service was not exceptional but adequate. As it is an older hotel, I would prefer one with more amenities on a future visit but for the intended purpose it was okay.

I would not recommend staying at this property. The parking was horrible. It took over 40 minutes of us circling the hotel to find a parking, and the only reason I found one was because I insisted that a staff member give up their parking space for me to park there. Also, the bartender was extremely rude to us. After 8 or 9pm, the restaurant closed and forwarded all guests to purchased drinks from the bar. I did not appreciate sending my 12 year old plus her friends to the bar for a coke and then being disrespected by the young bartender. She was annoyed to be selling us cokes and making comments under her breathe. I tried to purchase cokes from a coke machine but apparently the hotel did away with them.

Visited Houston a few weeks ago to take my son to a Houston Texans football game. It is only a couple of blocks to the front gate of Reliant Stadium. Front desk was helpful. Room was good size and clean but beds were way too soft. Elevators were always having issues. Breakfast was great, good food and great service but dinner at the restaurant on site was slow but food was ok. Would stay here again if I ever go back for another game.

If there were an option to give negative stars I would! The hotel is old,it smells, is in a terriblly dangerous neighborhood, and the staff are awful. Security is non-existant and we actually disturbed a vagrant passed out next to the open, outside door to our building one morning. Every morning I had to run the water in the tub for 30 minutes to get all of the iron oxide (rust) out of the line so that I wasn't taking a shower in orange water.
Two years ago housekeeping "removed" personal items from my room and this year a bartender "lost" a corporate credit card for 30 minutes. Both times after stating that I was calling the police, my items "magically" re-appeared!! It still remains to be seen if there were any additional charges to the card while it was "lost".
I attend an annual conference that is held here and I won't waste my $$$ any more. Do not stay here for ANY reason!!!!! If you must, kiss your valuables good-bye!

This is not the first visit to this property that I have had and again I was not satisfied with the room and the service from the staff. When I arrived the room I had requested had been given away and I was to be sent to building 6 far and away from my business associates. When I asked for consideration I was very bluntly told no but when my partner came up all of sudden a room was available. Again I understand how difficult it can be when there are large numbers of guests but the behavior of the staff was unaccepatble.

Stay in the tower. At least part of that has been renovated. Older rooms are run down, and in desperate need of an upgrade. Four ice machines at location and none working right. Staff just points you to the next one. No fridge in room. Smells old and mildewed in the lower buildings. Bathrooms in lower buildings are roughly the size of a phone booth. REally need to spend some money and upgrade these buildings. Noise levels high all night, no sound proofing in walls.

This was fine for a business stay (since the conference was in the hotel). But I will not stay there for other reasons. All the money must have been spent on the lobby and the photos. The hall carpets were filthy. The mattress was so bad (on BOTH beds) that I could put a pillow under the small of my back to obtain an almost level sleeping surface. The room was not very clean. Most amenities had been stripped out. Certainly NOT the same look that is presented for the lobby or the on line photos.
