Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Medical stay made easier I came to Houston for medical procedures and I couldn't have found a nicer place to stay. Rooms were clean. Staff was friendly and helpful. The shuttle service made getting out for meals as well as treatment easy. The young men who drove us were always friendly and careful. When we had a slight incident that made us feel unsafe, hotel security took care of the problem quickly and also were kind enough to bring us ice when the machine on our floor was broken. I would recommend this hotel and give it top marks! December 7, 2012
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointed I was amazingly disappointed with this hotel. It did not live up to the standards of other Crowne Plaza Hotels. When we checked in we were given a room that was not ready for check in. Then we didn't have hot water. We reported it and someone came by but didn't fix it and promised hot water by morning. The someone from the maintence dept knocked on our door after midnight to see if they had come by to fix the hot water but he didn't offer to do anything about it even though he woke us up. The A/C made a loud booming noise every time it came on. At some point during the night it just quit coming on. The staff just didn't seem interested in our issues. December 6, 2012

I would stay here again business or leisure. Only fault is the parking charge, but according to my co-workers this rate was the least around this area. Very pleased with service. December 5, 2012

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Beds and Housekeeping is Great Have stayed 3 times this year and it has allways been a great stay, the housekeeping people are very friendly and good at what they do, the shuttle drivers are the best also, the wait staff is fast but the bartenders could help them out by moving a little quicker, but overall our stays have been very good, will stay again if have to come back to houston December 5, 2012

This was a rare trip for me that required the use of a number of services offered by the hotel — the business center, the restaurant, the shuttle service, house keeping services and the staff on numerous occasions. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Thanksgiving week We had a very nice stay at River Oaks, where the staff were extremely gracious and helpful when we asked to interrupt our reservation for a few days so we could spend some time staying with our daughter. The breakfast buffet was well planned and offered a wide choice, including lots of fruit (yay) and eggs/omeletes/waffles made to order. Rooms were comfortable and service was swift and efficient, We will plan to come back again. December 2, 2012

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Business Hotel in Houston TX I have been staying at this hotel on and off since 2005. I use Holiday Inn preferentially as they allow a common experience. On occasion I use the Crowne Plaza in Houston and in London. I cannot praise the staff highly enough - they have been and are a credit to the training and management of the hotel. They are attentive without being false. The hotel is not in a great location for local amenities and is a business hotel and not a holiday hotel. However being located on Southwest Freeway it is easy to get from here to anywhere without the hassle of Downtown. The cost is acceptable. The improvements would be provision of better pillows, a quieter air conditioning system and some form of real dairy creamer for the excellent coffee they provide. (Half and half vs some powdered chemicals). The hotel is adjacent (by car) to a CVS Pharmacy and Chick fil A but you have to drive which is a nuisance. Overall I would say the staff raise the value of the hotel and I have seen staff changes in the past 6 or 8 years. Hotels are always not 'home' but this hotel gives the same quality of service and security year in and year out. November 30, 2012
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Poor service My husband and I stayed for a night with a groupon deal. The hallway to our room was dirty and the restaurant staff was rude and inhospitable. In addition. We asked for more pillows in the room. the woman who answered the phone said someone would bring up the extra pillows in 20 minutes. An hour an a half later (around 1am) and after two follow up calls to the front desk they finally delivered them. We have stayed in other crowne plazas and experienced much better service. I would not stay in this hotel again even if they offered me a free night. November 29, 2012

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Value We have stayed at this hotel on several occasions while attending treatment and testing at MD Anderson. The staff go out of their way to accomodate the needs of medical patients staying at the hotel. It is a clean, comfortable hotel with a friendly staff as well as discounts for medical guests. They have a very reliable and flexible shuttle service and the drivers are very friendly and go out of their way to accomodate their guests. The rooms have awesome blackout curtains so guests who choose to sleep late are never bothered by the day light. We will continue to choose this hotel when we travel to Houston. November 18, 2012

For the price of the meal, the service lacked and my $22 steak was less appetizing; under cooked and the sides were not even warm. If you happen to stumble upon this hotel with a groupon, get something in writing because they might TRIPLE CHARGE like they did with me. I was enraged. Even though I was promised one charge, only for the groupon price. My stay was for a weekend and it is now Thursday and I am still waiting for them to refund my account. Since the charges were a system glitch and the third charge were just in case of damages. There shouldn't be a glitch and there were no damage done to the room. This left me less than pleased with how this hotel runs. November 15, 2012

It was disappointing. I guess we are spoiled. We stay almost once a month, so I guess we have come to expect this from this particular hotel. Oh well, there is always next time. October 30, 2012

I know everyone likes to talk about all of the amenities, but every place has amenities, but it is the staff that really the difference for me. I really loved the comfortable beds, the attention to my needs, the security of parking and the ease of getting to the property. I was glad to see how close it was to shopping and entertainment. Felt very safe and enjoyed my stay. I will come back again and enjoy all this property has to offer Houston. October 26, 2012

I liked it that they dropped off and picked me up in Herman Park. I was satisfied with their customer service. I love the bed it was comfortable. May I suggest to provide better pillows so that it will complement the nice bed but other than that, it was fine. October 21, 2012

Crowne Plaza at River Oaks fills the bill. The staff is helpful, efficient, and friendly. I needed some receipts from past visits from the previous year, and Tara went out of her way to research and print them for me. There was an intermittent problem with the Internet server that kept me from working on a task that I had brought along. This made for too many idle hours on an otherwise pleasant stay. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not Business Friendly I stayed at the location last week while on a business trip, however I had to cut my stay short and relocate to another hotel. The internet quality was poor and slow at best. The hotel is in a good location, however the furnishings are outdated. The lighting is poor, two out of the four lamps were in need of repair. Parking is a concern even as it is for a fee, if you arrive in the evening you struggle to find a parking space. There are no business amenities in the room, such as stationary, etc. In general the facility is not up to Crown Plaza standard. The mattress was soft and mushy. In all fairness I normally stay at Intercontinental and mostly in Asia. Crown Plaza may be affiliate of the ICH Group although this property does nor compare to other facilities, especially in Asia. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not a good stay Here of the things that ruined my stay: The staff at the front desk gave me keys that didn't work when I checked in. I had to walk back to the front desk to get the correct keys. A maintenance man stood outside my door early one morning talking loudly (in Spanish) on his Walkee Talkee for about 5 minutes. I was also propositioned in the bar one night by a young woman. It was obvious that the bar tender knew what she was. October 4, 2012
