Our stay at Crowne Plaza couldn't have been better....clean and comfortable room, staff was very accommodating in room preference/hotel shuttle/area information. They have a schedule for pick-up/drop-off at Medical Centers and the Galleria Mall, and when we needed to be picked up at a different time...they were there for us. We felt like the staff cared about us, they were very respectful and thoughtful. I would recommend this hotel, especially to those in Houston for medical care. Only con for us....we didn't have a car and there weren't a lot of restaurants within walking distance....but the hotel shuttle goes to the Galleria where there are more than enough restaurants, shopping, etc. September 5, 2012

A staff member found it in the garage and returned it to the desk. People with such honesty, integrity and responsibility are rare these days, and I am so grateful for their help. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Downhill fast Worst stay in this hotel, and last stay, they through away two travel coffee mugs I left on my desk. Stay started out well with a friendly greeting by the young lady (in glasses) at the front desk. She was overly kind. I was happy to be upgraded to a suite as a platinum member and the wireless in that suite was enhanced since the last stay. Now, two days in, the air conditioning broke in the bedroom when I went to go to sleep (1130 at night). Service guy came up, turned on the air, then called the front desk and said i would need to be moved to another room. They appologized because all the suites were taken, and eventually sent someone upstairs with the new room key. Still, I have no issues, but when the person came to provide the new key, they did not have a cart, nor did they offer to help me with my bags. I was there for 5 days, so it is not like I only had an overnight bad to move, and after two days, I was not very efficient in my repacking to switch rooms. After that, it seemed as if the customer service continued to be poor and on top of all this, nothing was ever done to replace the travel mugs that were removed from my room during my last stay. For the year, I have stayed at this hotel 10 times and over 30 nights, but with the events of the past 2 stays, I may be done with this hotel. Chris August 29, 2012

She gave me a list of places and then let me know of the onsite restaurant open until 10:00. She let the restaurant staff know that we would be arriving just before closing. The restaurant knew our name when we arrived. The front desk staff was courteous and most helpful, both at check-in and check-out. We were made to feel they were really glad we were there. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by unfriendly, unhelpful staff the staff was extremely rude and unhelpful. we were giving the wrong information about the shuttle and after being skipped and waiting 45 minutes, ended up taking our own car to our destinations. the hotel smelled musty and food left in hallway by a neighboring room (room service and take out) was left in the hall for 24 hours. definately will never use this hotel, maybe this chain again. Negative on stay was the laundry room: we had a long wait in the laundry facility in the hotel as it did not have enough washers and dryers to accommodate the large hotel; no laundry detergent vending machine; we had to walk across very busy road to CVS to buy detergent; no table in laundry room. We ended up staying one night instead of two due to Houston traffic and wanting to get out of the city. Did enjoy the Houston Natural History Museum with the new Dinosaur exhibits! August 18, 2012
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good & bad news Lots of good and bad to report. First, the bad: 1. Sometimes rattling noise on 6th floor, like drilling on a distant floor (pipes?) I thought it was maintenance but it vibrated randomly thru day and night. Not loud enough to disturb sleep. 2. Wifi terribly slow; frequently times out, cannot connect. 3. Website falsely says there is a self-service laundry. Truth is, they do it and they want $9 to wash one top or shirt. 4. Restaurant staff is hard to find a lunch time:Twice it took 5 minutes to find anyone to ask to be seated. They seem to disappear into the kitchen. 5. Toilet wouldn't stop high pitched noise. Again, not loud enough to disturb sleep, but maintenance man couldn't fix. 6. Parking garage hard to park in; lots of small posts for $8/day. Good: 1. Staff very polite and helpful, except restaurant staff who weren't attentive or visible. 2. Hotel and rooms clean, well maintained, attractive. 3. Convenient location. 4. Beds are comfortable. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good Stay Fulfilled my goals of a quick, fairly quiet stay. Could have been quieter. I think I had some young guests on my floor or something, going in and out of their room and loud in the hall, but no big deal, really. The thing that was most disappointing was the slow drain in the tub. The shower I took filled in the tub rather quickly due to the slow drain. Aside from these two issues, my stay was great. The bed was unbelievably comfortable. I didn't want to get out of it :) Will definitely stay again in the future. Thanks. July 22, 2012
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by No follow through or recognition I recently stayed here at this property for just one night. Things started off great with valet parking my car and helping with luggage. But checking in was a bit of a nightmare....I was not recognized as a PC member, why join if no recognition? When telling Mrs. Hussar the front desk agent, I was a member and supplying my card, she simply looked at it and said ok, but didnt write down or imput my information. 2nd item was I prepaid for this room online, and then supplied a credit card, and that was subsequently charged for the full amount again....had to call controller to get resolved... 4 days afterwards...The 3rd item was regarding my wake up call, II was asked if I liked one and said YES, supplied a time of 645am.. NO CALL...Just very dissapointed from my stay and caused me to be late for my appointments in the area. Over all I would not chose to stay at this location again... July 20, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by quiet room, very comfortable bed On very short notice, I needed to find a hotel near the hospital complex in Houston. A nurse recommended the Crowne Plaza, River Oaks for a quiet place to retreat from the hospital yet close enough for free shuttle service to the MD Anderson. Free shuttle to the Galleria was available as well. Everyone I spoke with from the reservations agent, front desk, to the shuttle driver were very professional and helpful. Ana, who worked evenings at the front desk was particularly helpful and kind. Have just booked my reservation for when I have to return to Houston later in the month. July 16, 2012

On initial check in, there was a line that led to the door...one a couple of customer service agents were on hand, so it took a while to check in. Other than that...it was a good experience. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Holiday Inn's Decline I am 60 years old and come from the home of Holiday Inn. When one stayed at the Holiday Inn it use to be an experience. Now it is a nightmare. One never knows what they will get when they book with Holiday Inn. It seems as though the management to the staff really have no general interest. I recently returned from an 8 day road trip and used Holiday Inn for the entire going, staying, and returning home. I traveled over 2000 miles and there was a problem with each Holiday Inn. I have recently sent a letter to the VP of Customer Care outlinning all the problems which I have experienced from having to be moved two times because of non working air-conditioners in 100+ degree weather, to dirty rooms, to charging me for cancelled rooms. I stayed in Destin Florida this summer and the rooms are musty, dirty, and the breakfast buffet which we use to really enjoy has now gone down in food quality and quantity and up in price. I could just go on and on. I have been a priority club member for years however I am rethinking that entire relationship. July 10, 2012
