Fun Room

April 16, 2015

Stayed one night in one of the refurbished rail cars. One night is enough. The windows of the car look into the hallway which means there's not much of a view, passers by can look right in, and there's not much natural light in the room itself. It is a fun novelty but quickly diminishes when you walk in and see the inside of the rail car is a normal room, albeit, skinny. The experience would be much more real if the room interior would reflect the rail theme but it does not in the slightest.

Great stay

April 16, 2015

We wanted to celebrate our anniversary and stay in one of the train car rooms. I was pleasantly surprised with how wonderful our experience was. The staff at the front desk were very courteous and friendly. The hotel room was immaculate. We opted for the breakfast with the room and the buffet was simply delicious. The beds were probably the most comfortable we have slept in. Would definitely go back. We did hear the trains early in the morning but it was more exciting than annoying to us since we were informed at check in that we would hear the trains. We also loved the convenient location to all of downtown indy. My husband and I used the sky walk to get to the mall and were able to shop without having to navigate traffic outside. Couldn't have asked for a better time.

Not for families

April 16, 2015

I stayed at this hotel with 3 children. Other reviews mentioned problems with the noise from the trains nearby, but that was not an issue for us. However, noise from a wedding reception down the hall from our room was a terrible issue. We were on the second floor. When the reception ended, the guests had to go back down the hall our room was on to get to the elevator. It wasn't just noisy all at once, but every time a group of guests left we heard them noisily making their way down the hall. We didn't get to sleep until almost 3 am. It was horrible. I have been in hotels at the same time as fraternity formals, and this was still the worst noise I have experienced in a hotel. If you are going to stay there as part of one of the large parties they have reception rooms for, then you might not mind because likely you'll be partying too hard to care about other guests. However, if you are trying to enjoy a family get away, this is not the place unless you can be guaranteed there are no group events going on. I did complain to the front desk, and they did nothing about it.
