Crowne Plaza. Good value but declining standard.

Only two nights visit, the hotel is appearing "tired" in public areas.
Room was ok but bathroom was in need of a redec. some rooms on our floor undergoing renovation but we had to tell the builders to stop banging at 10.30pm.
for a Jerusalem hotel of this standard is still good value.
safe was locked on arrival so could not use and no time to call in maintenance.
Room was not made up or cleaned on day two although we vacated by 9.30am. we had to call for clean towels.
The service in the bar on Saturday night after 10pm was pitiful as three staff on duty running round without achieving anything. It took a long time to get service.
We have stayed here before but sad that the hotel is in decline.

Taking an older #96# parent for an overnight luxury hotel-stay requires planning and thinking outside the box. The Crowne Plaza in Jerusalem presented a great answer.
Their superior room enabled entrance to the "club lounge", where one could eat, drink, and relax until 10pm. This was the perfect answer. The room was very clean, and its facilities great. The reception was very friendly. In particular, the help of Benny, for planning the next trip was very kind. Hope to go back.

Hello,I spend 2 night in hotel Crowne Plaza Jerusalem. I got the upgraded room because I have a platinum member card but I was surprise how look the upgraded room. It looked like bad & breakfast room and not like 4 stars hotel. The bathroom look really very bad ( it was clean but look and feeling was terrible). I was asking the people on reception if we can change the room and they said "Yes we can and we will move your suitcase" but at the evening when we come to the hotel nothing happen.... I am sorry but I can say that stay in your hotel was for me one of the worst experience which I have.

Good pool

Friendly staff and an excellent pool. Far away from old town, but close to Israel Museum and Knessit. Can catch excellent modern tram to old city at bus station which is 5 minutes walk away from the hotel.

Wi-Fi signal very weak in rooms

This was the second time I stayed at this hotel and Wi-Fi signal was still very weak. I did change the room but still not improved. I would suggest the management still think about setting up an individual router in each room so that the Wi-Fi signal becomes better. At the end, I was at the lobby to get on-line for 3 hrs since I needed to get my mails done. As a platinum PC mener and frequently traveller like myself, hotel internet is extremely important and I hope the hotel management should take an immediate action on this issue.

Good value for money

I spent a one day stay with the Crowne Plazza Jerusalem with my family.
Overall, the service was very ok: I was recognized as a IHG Reward Club member and as such upgraded as well as my family, the breakfast was very good from a quality perspective, check-in and check out was very effective and we had the opportunity to enjoy the swimming pool.
On the negative side, for sure the hotel is not a boutique hotel, so do not expect a charming hotel.

Great service, tired hotel

This was my second time staying here, and whilst I try to stay within the IHG hotel brands, I will start to rethink a bit about this place.

The staff are really friendly, and I cannot find complaint in this area. They are courteous and helpful in every way. The concierge pointed us to some good restaurants and helped with our navigation around the city.

As to the hotel, the large pool was the best part for me. Being able to get my swimming lengths in whilst travelling is always a plus. This was one of the larger pools I have had access too.

The rest of the hotel, though, is somewhat tired. My bedroom was one of the low points. The bathroom relatively filthy, and I had multiple large moths flying around in my room, which really was not pleasant.

My previous stay had yielded what I recall to be a much nicer room, so there must be some in better shape than others.

Really, at the price this is, versus other Crown Plaza's around Europe, this is is sub standard and needs an overhaul.

The people making effort is what brought this back from a negative review.

Not up to Crown Plaza standards

My wife and I stayed over Easter holiday.
It was our first visit to Israel .
We did not feel welcomed by the staff. Restaurant service was awful, as was checking in and out.
I am a platinum member and was appalled by this property.
The rooms were dated and dirty as well.
I do NOT recommend this property.

This Hotel is NOT in the center of town or near the Old City it is more for the convention corporate business traveler that is NOT in town for the sites...if you are touring the old city and holy sites stay at the Brand New Beautiful Waldorf Astoria Palace.

However If you are coming to Jerusalem for a short business meeting and do NOT want to go thru the inter-City traffic and hassle the Crowne Plaza Jerusalem hotel is in the PERFECT location

Lack of Attention / Understaffed / Poor Customer Service

The stay got off to a good start was welcomed by receptionist and given my room upgrade complimentary beverage coupon as normal being an Ambassador Platinum member, but from there it turned for the worse. Arrived on Shabbat so understand that was going to be no restraunt which was fine for Friday night and Saturday but could not even get waited on in the lounge had to fight for attention of the staff to get my free beer. No sweats or dessert said had all sold out. (it was 8:00 pm). So had another beer and called it a night. Next day waited for 15 minutes for the conceirge to discuss on a local tour arrangement, no one showed so finally just left and got my own cab. (Note: arranged tour with cab driver directly he was at least appreciative of the business). Saturday night tried the bar again this time went directly to the bar and was successful asked for some pretzels but they never came. Sunday had good time visitied Jericho and the temptation monestary and some time in the old city. Thought okay Shabbat over can eat at the hotel after shower and relax some. Called up restraunt but closed, went down stairs bar closed. Both closed all week saying preparing for passover but never announced when checking in or anything. Too tired to go out so just went to sleep. (Note: at checkout found others had a minibar stocked. But mine was empty!). And to top it off they put someone else's reciept in my payment envelope but I only found that out later when I opened envelope to start my expense report. He must have grabbed the wrong one off the printer but he was the only one at the desk doing check out and was doing 2 guests at the same time. Not his fault the hotel is not being managed effectively and this hotel does not live up to the IHG standards that I have had experienced globally with the IHG brands.

worn down and worn out

1)Hotel is generally very worned down.
2)Air conditioning only switiched on and locked on warm and hot for the season until end of March. Totally unprepared and unable to switch to cold air as temperatures went up to 25-28 C. No fans available at all to help situation. Reception suggested custmers to leave balcony door open all nithg, but no help and nosie level was very high so there were 3 sleeepless nights
3)Bath room not well cleaned. Shower curtains dirty
4)No signs for ice machine. Machine is also rusty and dirty.

Overall expreience of my stay

I was kind of sad about this Crown Plaza since it is the worst one I have ever stayed in my life in terms of service, room type, breakfast and value. It does not seem to have the quality of other Crown Plaza hotels and I, as a Platinum member, will definitely not stay here next time when I travel to Jerusalem.
