Average hotel, not likely to return

My husband and I recently stayed at the Kansas City Downtown for a wedding. We brought our 3 month old son along and reserved a 2nd room for my parents-in-law to watch our son. My father-in-law is wheel chair bound and unable to walk. Upon arrival I asked the bellhop for a cart to put our things on while we got my father-in-law into his chair and then into the hotel. The bellhop never returned to help us with our luggage. Check-in was uneventful and the rooms were pretty nice, despite the out-dated feel of the hotel. Out of 3 main elevators for a 28 story hotel one was broken when we arrived so traveling to our rooms took a long time. Later that night at the wedding the women's bathroom backed-up leaving a disgusting bathroom with the scent of eau de poo. The staff said it would be attended to, however, many of the women ended up using the mens room b/c the stench was unbearable. The staff at the event were very nice and did a wonderful job, especially the servers and bartenders. The following day we were trying to leave and my father-in-law had to wait an hour for an elevator b/c they were always full by the time they reached their floor and his chair takes up more room than the average person. I met my husband downstairs while he retrieved the car and asked someone if they could help get my father-in-law down, and they told me they couldn't help b/c another elevator was broken and were much more concerned about us moving our car from the hotel entrance. Overall, we enjoyed the wedding, but the hotel was slightly disappointing and I would rather stay elsewhere if we return to Kansas City.

Superior service!

I highly recommend The Crowne Plaza Downtown Kansas City! We were there for our daughter's wedding reception in the beautiful ballroom on the 28th floor. We, as well as many guests stayed at the hotel and had a wonderful experience. We stayed in a suite on the executive level and were impressed with the size, decor and cleanliness. The "continental" breakfast even had hot scrambled eggs. Our stay was very comfortable and we would definitely stay there again, but what I really wanted to compliment was the exceptional staff! Libby, the meetings director and our wedding coordinator, was simply amazing! She helped with every aspect of the planning. She was always available almost immediately anytime we had questions and always took care of things without hesitation. We had a limited budget, but she gave us great ideas to work within it. I completely trusted her ideas and creativity. She made the entire experience stress free which allowed us all to relax the night of the reception and truly enjoy our party. The service before and after the reception was amazing! Anything we needed we got immediately. Everyone was very friendly, attentive and always ready to help in anyway we needed. I wanted to especially thank Dinko, Andrew, Natalia, Rossie, and Ari. They were all very impressive in their individual jobs. They cheerfully served and helped us in anyway we needed them. No reception would be complete without exceptional food! And "exceptional" is the correct word! Chef Paul and Sious Chef Shannon did an amazing job! Not only was everything delightfully delicious, but it was also presented beautifully! We got so many compliments on the food! We got so many compliments on everything!!! Our guests were so impressed with the beauty of the entire event! It was the behind the scenes hard work of all these talented people that helped make our daughter's wedding experience one we will always remember and be thankful for. We were so lucky to have discovered The Crowne Plaza for our special event! It was perfect in every way!
