Key West Vacation

A good value and excellent location for your Key West vacation. The staff were very attentive and courteous and the restaurant offered the best breakfasts we have had in hotels in years.

Loved Key West, but disappointed in this IHG premier property.

Pros:
-The La Concha is right in the heart of Duval Street which makes it easy to get around to enjoy many of the great things that Key West has to offer.

-Walking in the lobby is very nice but very cold...which sometimes felt nice after being in the sun all day.

-The pool is very nice and quiet, very good for adults, but not so much for kids. There is bar and our bartender was GREAT!

Cons:
-Our room was not someplace we wanted to spend time in...especially the bathroom. There was mold in the shower and the fan didn't work. Initially the bathtub wasn't draining, but that did get fixed, but not the other stuff. This included the toilet that was difficult to flush (but eventually did). On a positive note, the bed was very comfortable.

-The check-in desk has a ridiculously gigantic pillar in the middle which makes it difficult for the staff to even see that someone is waiting. This usually resulted in me waiting for them to take a few phone calls while I stood there trying to peek around trying to get their attention. If you are a Platinum Member, don't expect any special treatment...to include the staff even realizing there are supposed to benefits. For example, asking for a late check-out...you'd think I had asked for their first born.

Overall my Key West experience was AWESOME. Even on points, I would probably not stay here again...just isn't worth the price for a moldy bathroom.

Will not recommend

We stayed at the La Concha Crowne Plaza in Key West, FL. We will not return. While the Bo the night manager and the day manager were very helpful to us there are just to many issues - Leaky shower (water on a tile floor is very dangerous), The toilet was exremely noisy, the thermostat was located behind the big screen TV and lamp, and at a location on top of the dresser (very hard to get to, read and adjust). No one answered the phone when we called down, had to get dress to talk to someone. Room was not what was described on the website nor the book in the room (no sleep time amenities, no coffee maker, no microwave). There was mold on the4 grout and silicon sealing compoound in the shower. Most of the furniture in the room and lobby area was very uncomfortable. The staff seemed to be very short handed. The bed was comfortable. For the money/points is just is not worth it.

dark and gloomy

Entrance to hotel is very dark and gloomy. Bar is on first floor right in front of entrance. Extremely high stools at bar with coffee tables and chairs. This area is also used for breakfast & dinner. In "dining" area, there are some normal tables for dining but half are coaches & chairs with coffee tables. Not where I would sit down for a meal. No vending or gift shop to get snacks or drinks. Must go to nearby CVS even for a bottle of water. Have to order ice from desk. Pool available but small & have to climb up 3 flights of stairs or go down one flight of stairs to get to pool. Pool has handicap lift for individuals to get in pool but not sure hw they can get to that point. Pool bar hard to sit at or get around.
Only pro was location. We had balcony which was nice. Only down side here was street construction on corner during week starts early.
