Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Golfers' Treat This was our third stay at your Lake Placid hotel and it has remained consistent in service and atmosphere through the years. The staff was very helpful and gracious and the golf at both the Links and Mountain courses was a great experience. We were able to make our tee times with our reservation and even enjoyed a round free since we stayed early in the week. September 2, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by High rates low customer service A beautiful hotel, Great cooks and then it ends. Front counter staff were not good with people. We stayed during Ironman and payed through the nose and got horrible service the whole weekend. Had trouble with our room key 3 times and staff made us feel like we were a nuisance and we were doing something wrong. Not allow bikes through lobby yet most were there for the Ironman. No included breakfast with a $369 per night stay. If you are going to double or more your rates then you should make sure the experience matches. September 1, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Thank You Crown Plaza Lake Placid I have never been treated with such professional regard. Without a doubt, Crown Plaza is the only place to stay in Lake placid. Thank you for allowing us to bring our dog Emma with us and allowing us to stay in a premium room with her. Our stay was simply outstanding! August 31, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by veranda Food was good. However, we and other people waited over one hour for a salad to be served. Table cleared after the entree. No one came to the table to take a coffee and dessert order. Finally went to manager and asked for check. An extra 10% discount is not the answer. Hotel recommended the restaurant and they should be embarrassed August 30, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great place to stay. Stayed for one night and had a great experience. Staff was very nice. Loved the buffet breakfast. Relaxed in the hot tub-much appreciated after hiking! Wanted to go to the beach but it was raining, it was nice to have such an option. Didn't like the hike back up the hill to the hotel-but should be fine for most able bodied people. August 29, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable bed and friendly staff We have been at the hotel twice already for a romantic gateway, sports activities. We like location, exterior and interior is beautiful, service is great, rooms are very clean, beds are very comfortable and would recommend to friends. However, I wish there was a shower/changing room next to the pool. There is bathroom only and is not convenient for changing. If we can't change, then robes need to provided at the room. No robes, no slippers, therefore, we have to remember next time to bring them for trips to the pool. Drinking water at the gym tasted like chlorine. Vending machine had one last bottle left, so I had to take a trip to town to get bottled water. Next time, I am bringing my bottled water. Breakfast selection is average. Bagel is not so great. Would like to see better selection for that price. August 28, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 Happy to have found this place Crowne Plaza Resort in Lake Placid NY is my default hotel when I visit my son at College. I love everything about this place. I was unable to show my IHG card and did not know the number. I wish they could have looked it up for me. August 28, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Quiet room, nice breakfast Nice quiet room, comfy bed, but, sheets never changed, the shower curtain was taken away and left off the last night. Great view from the room, worth the upgrade. The location on top of the ridge gives you a great view, but, the walk up is long and steep. If you choose the one in front of the hotel, it is narrow, in poor repair, and too steep. It needs to be widdened, re-enginerred, add a hand rail. It sure does burn the calories when you return after dinner. August 27, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by OK Property We needed a hotel that allowed our Yorkies, all others were full. Never stayed at a Crown Plaza before. Checked in and left my dog leash on the check in counter. Went by to get it and was walking away and the girl said, loudly, You Do Know About The Pet Fee, I said yes. She acted like I was trying to sneak my dogs in, for goodness sake, if I was would I carry my dog least to check in ? It was very rude and embarrassing. The room was nice with one exception, the grout on the bathroom floor was all discolored, looked dirty, just surprised at it given how nice everything else was. I do have to say for the price, the mattress and pillows were not as nice as what LaQuinta has upgraded to using, also surprising, even my husband noticed that since we usually stay at LQ's with our dogs. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice I thought this location was very nice. The pool and weight room were well cared for, the ambience in the hotel is awesome, and the location is great. Only negative things about this location is there is no free breakfast. With this type of chain and the cost to stay there, a free breakfast should have been included. They do offer a pay buffet but it is pricey and no discount is offered to guests. Other negative (also a positive) was the location. The views are amazing however it is on a large hill overlooking the village. Very easy to get down but it is a hike to get up. Elderly may want to drive down the road and park. All and all, very happy and would stay again. They just need to work on that breakfast thing. August 26, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful hotel and amazing view We spent one night at the Crowne Plaza in Lake Placid, NY. We were able to check in early and were offered an upgrade to a lake view room for a nominal fee. The view was beautiful and it was nice to have a small balcony that we could enjoy during our stay. The hotel room was equipped with a microwave and fridge and was spacious. The hotel décor was very nice. I would highly recommend this hotel. August 25, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fun Summer Long Weekend My family really enjoyed our 4 day trip to Lake Placid in August. The Crowne Plaza resort has a fantastic view of Mirror Lake. It's in a convenient location in the center of this quaint, walkable town. The hotel lobby, outdoor patio, and landscaping are beautiful. The hotel is next to the Olympic skating center where the US Hockey team beat Russia for the "Miracle on Ice". If you visit in the summer, make sure to check out the ski jump show on Saturdays at 1:00 at the Olympic Jumping Complex. You should also go on pontoon boat tour of Lake Placid. It's the only way to see the whole lake since there aren't roads around most of the lake. August 25, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Always nice to stay there Excellent location, superb view, clean rooms and friendly staff. August 24, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Awesome. Nice Hotel, very clean and a great location. The extra cost for a lakeview room is maybe not worth it as there are great views all around and the balcony was smaller than we expected, but you don't go to Lake Placid to spend time in the room anyway. Overall a great hotel. August 21, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by old, but good. IMO it was erected during the olympic games at the 80ths. No major reconstruction as I think but anyway everything was in good shape. Rooms were excellent, clean and nice, nicely maintained pool area, the view is breathtaking from the Great Room. The service is as one could expect from a sports hotel, no bellmen, no valet parking (and for that more pricy than it could be expected), but extremly short distance from parking lot. Good and rich breakfeast with a wide variety of different choices. August 21, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Hotel as beautiful as scenery I had a wedding to attend at the hotel and everything was spectacular!! All hotel staff were friendly and accommodating. The rooms were very comfortable and the food at the reception was great. Location is wonderful for walking to all that the town has to offer. You guys rock!!!! August 21, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by AWFUL I have stayed at the Hotel for years and will NEVER stay again. Room was awful, airconditioning didn't work, view was awful, jacuzzi didn't work and for the price, it was vastly overpriced for the value. August 21, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful Place Check in was easy and friendly. Rooms were very clean. We ate breakfast at their restaurant there and had the buffet which was very good. Location was good also. You could walk down the hill and be in down town. Only thing that was bad was if you had trouble walking you needed to take the shuttle because it sits on top of a hill and very steep walking. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay so much we joined their rewards club because we will sure stay at one of their hotels again. August 20, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Highly Recommend Staying Here Staff & Service were excellent. Great location and atmosphere. We met the general manager during our visit and he went out of his way to make our stay very enjoyable. Will definitely stay at this hotel during our next visit to Lake Placid. August 19, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Weekend Gataway... We had a great stay and it all started during check-in when the front desk told us that our room was upgraded to a room with a Lakeview. Very clean and spacious room, friendly hotel staffs. We will be making a return trip for sure. August 19, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by total enjoyment comfortable, convenient, great location, quiet. Will definitely return. August 19, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 Very good location I always stay at the Crown when in Lake Placid for its location. The personel is always nice and welcoming. The rooms are your tipycal hotel room. They are clean, and fairly uptodate, with a little balcony. I like that it has free Wi-Fi. For the ladies, the treck (walking) back to the hotel after going out is a good work-out for the butt... and heart :) Love Lake Placid, the perfect place to unwind. August 19, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Always a pleasure The view is amazing. Rooms are comfy. We always enjoy our stay. Food super! August 18, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Experience We came with quite expectations to visit the Adirondack. The Hotel was a good part in the fulfillment of those expectations. We were upgraded prior to our arrival and were not disappointed at all. Nice view, great accommodation, clean rooms & bathrooms. All in all great experience. August 17, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Convenient location Very attractive facility, close to downtown, beautiful view of Mirror Lake. Free shuttle to dinner across the lake, delightful young driver Evan who gave us directions to other attractions. Room was clean, wish the bathroom had a fan. Front desk was helpful, only. snag was trying to order dessert in the dining room after going out for dinner and the waitress forgot we were there. Otherwise a positive experience. August 16, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by beautiful property I enjoyed my stay at the Crowne Plaza. I do wish there was a free breakfast for people staying there. Otherwise good service, nice rooms, great view of the lake! August 16, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Full service offering in a boutique town The Crown Plaza is a fantastic full service hotel in a market that is dominated by downscale or boutique hotels. LP is a great vacation spot and the place on the hill, the Crown Plaza is a fantastic place to see it from and experience it from as well. Take advantage of the Boat House across Mirror Lake and enjoy hanging out in the lobby bar restaurant with friends. The staff is nice, helpful and caring and all in all a great property!! August 16, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great view and perfect location. Great stay! The hotel staff was very friendly and accommodating. The hotel is located on top of a hill which makes for great views of Mirror Lake. It is a great proximity to Main St in Lake Placid - for shopping and dining. We would definitely come back! One suggestion - even though they have a coffee maker in the room, it would be nice to have coffee and tea available in the lobby. August 15, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Staff and Service We were in Lake Placid to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary with a plan to climb Mount Marcy. Upon our arrival, we were initially disappointed with our room, given the occasion, but were happy to learn that we were able to access an upgraded room even though the hotel was obviously very busy with the lacrosse tournament in town. We were also happy with how quickly room service was delivered and our room was very comfortable. In addition, we enjoyed the Great Room and the view from the outside patio - these alone would make us want to book at your hotel again. With respect to the staff, they were very courteous and helpful. However, we were very surprised at their apparent lack of knowledge of what the area had to offer or even knowledge about where we could go to access this information. For a hotel that relies on tourists in order to thrive, someone on staff during every shift should be the "go to person" . In other words, someone on staff has to be available to answer general questions about the area or to at least say, "You need to talk to......." After numerous attempts to initiate conversations with staff about the area, we realized they really weren't familiar with the Lake Placid area. General information about where to find answers is necessary in any hotel in a tourist area. Just some food for thought and for future improvement. However, overall, an enjoyable experience. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Crowne Lake Placid Second year in a row that my wife and I have stayed at the Crowne during the annual Lake Placid Lacrosse Tournament. We will be back for third time next Aug. We had a fantastic lake-view room with balcony, and since the hotel is on the top of a hill the view in all directions is unobstructed. Bed very comfortable, room had fridge and microwave which we used daily. The bar/restaurant and the attached patio have fantastic views of the lake and High Peaks area. Staff is friendly, front desk very helpful... had a room ready before official check-in and graciously gave us an extra hour for check-out which allowed me to keep my tournament schedule without having to check out of the room before my last game; this made a huge difference....thanks. Very relaxed atmosphere, perfect for vacation. Food at restaurant very good. We are rewards members and were treated very well with room upgrade, news paper, etc. This is a quality spot in Lake Placid. A two minute walk to downtown. The hotel was at capacity during our visit, but it was not a mad-house because the property is spacious. August 14, 2013
