The Campbell House/Crowne Plaza definitely is our favorite place to stay when we're in the Lexington area. The staff could not be nicer! The food was very good, too.

We have been staying at The Crowne Plaza Campbell House twice a year, to coincide with the Leeneland racing season, for the past 8 years. As usual, our most recent stay was excellent as usual. Very nice accommodations, friendly staff and very comfortable beds. We will be returning in October.

Just not a good stay. Desk staff was friendly but really could not answer any questions about anything local or help. Arrived early and got a room with a view -- a view of a brick wall. The room is very dark .. I actually don't like bright rooms in general -- but this room is just dark even with all of the lights on. The bathroom is tiny. The pool temperature was about 90 degrees (not really# but it was very warm and not refreshing. I know every pool has a lot of chlorine but this was ridiculous. I swim all of the time and could not keep my eyes open -- plus the water was cloudy.
We were told within walking distance of things like downtown and university but not really within walking distance to anything except dunkin donuts and the hospital
And if you have kids, there is nothing good for them except the pool #in theory but it was not good as stated) -- no Disney Channel. The beds were not comfortable -- we both woke up early and were tired the next day.
So we came looking for a great experience in a nice hotel. we left wondering why we didn't stay at a $50-$80 chain instead.

The staff at the Crowne Plaza was extremely friendly, accommodating and quick to help with anything we needed, which was especially important because I was on a school/business trip and there were many things we needed that were time sensitive, given the nature of the trip. We did not have to worry about anything while we were there!
Our room was very comfortable and had everything we needed.
I will definitely stay here again if I return for the same conference in Lexington and will be sure to recommend this hotel to my colleagues.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by stellaccia Great place for a budget business trip
Great value for the price. Quiet, clean, good reasonably priced food.
This place doesn't pretend to be anything it could not be. Which is why I wholeheartedly recommend it as a no frills place for a business trip. Parking and internet access are free, check- in and room service are both pretty quick and efficient. The staff is very, very hospitable, charming and helpful. Makes up for the somewhat outdated furniture/decoration, the cramped bathrooms and the somewhat boring food choices. That said, I would probably not choose it for a romantic getaway or for tourism (too far away from the downtown action) , but, again, great place when you are here to work and on a slim expense account...

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by burtondr Room was sub-standard
I have always wanted to stay at the Cambell House which is now a Crowne Plaza hotel. Upon checking in late the first evening, our room was horrible and we were too tired to do anything about it. The Floor was sopping wet by the bed, there was red whatever on the bed spread. The room smelled so strong of bleach you could not sleep. We hit the staff hard the next day and they tried to fix the room and even removed the charge for the first nite but the floor was still wet and overall the entire complex is looking run down. It was a disappointment to us on a much awaited vacation to the Bluegrass of KY. We did not change rooms as they did not have another of the same class we purchased. They should have upgraded us and moved us. We paid for a higher than normal room in the first place. I guess you cant go back.
