Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Improving but more to do I stay regularly in the area and have always been made very welcome by all of the very friendly and helpful staff. The level of service has declined over the years even to the point that guests had to make their own tea/coffee at breakfast akin to Holiday Inn Expresses. Thankfully some of these items are now being addressed. Breakfast is back to normal; housekeeping has considerably improved and after well over a year the (what was a quite limited) evening menu has finally been changed and extended! I was really pleased about this until I found that there was no reference made on it regarding the 10% "discretionary" service charge that is automatically (and somewhat covertly) added to every bill even if you are eating on your own..... Unfortunately what for years used to be complimentary access to the executive lounge and room "welcome basket" are still no longer offered to platinum guests which has reduced the satisfactory experience massively. It was really nice to have this after a long day and made one feel valued. The management tell me their hands are tied on that one. This and the past decline in standards has resulted in several colleagues staying away from this hotel. Hopefully something can be done to improve this aspect in the near future. June 28, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Crown Plaza - Liverpool Airport Customer Service is very poor at this hotel, reception staff would rather stand and talk with friends than acknowledge customers waiting to check in. Check out is a timely process, often long ques with only one member of staff on. Hotel food is of poor quality, basic selection and very overpriced. Beverages are expensive, and they compare to central London prices. Hotel rooms are tired with nets hanging off the windows and plaster/wallpater coming off the walls around the window. Bathroom smells damp and need regrouting. I had to ask for my duvet cover to be changed as it smelt of BO, i'm convinced it wasn't changed prior to my check in. I have to use this hotel often as I work away from home and its my company's choice to put me up here, but would i stay here if i had a choice...........NO! I'm dissapointed that i didn't take photo's of the nets hanging off window and the plaster coming away from the walls, I didn't release I could upload photo's, but I promise too next time! Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by A few issues Although I am a Priority Platinum Elite customer and voiced my concerns to the email on my account they have not replied hence why I have posted this feedback. I have stayed at this hotel for a number of years and changes to priority customers benefits and other issues are not being addressed. Firstly the good points - the staff are brilliant and I cannot fault them but I cannot help feel they are controlled by Head Office The menu in the bar has been the same for at least 3 years. The hotel is used by many business people who stay there every week hence why many will go elsewhere Bathrooms are beginning to get tired with peeling paint over the shower and mould around the baths. Telephone not working in the room. This is not what you would expect for 4 star hotel Be careful about the car park they outsourced this to a 3rd party company and if you do not tell reception your number plate its a £100 fine in the post. One night is only 24 hours parking go over that and you could be fined Don't; let IHG kid you re improvements to Priority membership - like free Wi Fi - (big deal!). They closed the lounge to members and changed how points are awarded to maintain your elite status by choosing what bonus points are eligible. Nothing communicated o the members on that change! Disappointed - I doubt I will be a member for much longer June 18, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very comfortable bed What a unique experience, friendly atmosphere with helpful staff, loved the way it is linked to the gym next door as evenings can get boring away from home, what can I say about the room apart from peaceful and quiet and beautifully maintained, the little touches in the bathroom such as a vanity kit and sewing kit came in handy, ever little comfort thought about. Will certainly use the hotel again when I come to Liverpool. Thank you to all the staff who made my birthday weekend so special . May 15, 2013

I often fly from Liverpool to Ireland and always come a day earlier than my flight in order to stay at the hotel. Also, the hotel provenance and architecture adds to its appeal. April 25, 2013

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by nice building. awful service and experience The Hotel is a nice building, well decorated in an art Deco style suiting it's airport past. That ends the good point. The staff all seem over worked, under trained and disinterested. 5 minutes to get seated in the empty restraunt seems normal. Check out experience was horrendous. Always 'errors' of extra charges on the bill. Made worse by the apparent policy of not show you a copy of the invoice, just telling you the total and expecting you to pay without questioning. I had to ask 3 times to see an invoice, which was wrong when produced. Then add in the hidden extras in the t&c ('best flexible rate' that has a £50 early departure fee which is hidden behind a link on the 2nd screen when booking, £5 amex payment fee not shown anywhere etc etc etc) and you can only think they don't want your repeat business. I will take my money, and my teams money elsewhere. April 9, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great hotel with character Stayed there as watching Liverpool game. Great features and character, plus the most comfortable bed ever! Breakfast in bed time was wrong but they apologised and gave it free. Everyone makes mistakes, it's how you rectify them them that counts - and they did the right thing. Not just good for the airport, it's a few miles out of the town but that means its away from the noise and bustle of town. Would recommend this and will stay here again. March 16, 2013

I have seen quite a lot of improvements however the Hotel still has a long way to go to return to what it was 1 year ago . My daughter and I had a twin room, we each had a very comfortable queen size bed and the room was lovely. Desperately trying to think of reasons to return to Liverpool so we can stay here again. The hotel and staff are all very friendly but there are not enough people working on the bar. Time to get a drink was between 20 & 30 minutes every time. Stayed for three night and a very loud wedding on every night and they spilled out into the main bar as their bar service was also very slow March 5, 2013

There is so little main course choice now, that the bar/room menu is better. I will be staying with you for the foreseeable future. January 17, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Great hotel, shame about the guests! We've been staying in this hotel for 9 years, generally on a Friday and/or Saturday night to visit family. Frankly the experience in the public areas of the hotel in the evenings is now appalling all year round due to the various weddings, parties, functions etc. The guests don't stay in their function rooms, they spill out into the public areas and the hotel bar and make it extremely loud and unpleasant for the other guests. The queues at the hotel bar are ridiculous as the party people use that instead of their own bars and the staff do nothing. The noise level, language and sheer volume of people make it impossible to allow the kids into the bar area and make a quiet drink/meal impossible. It ruins what's otherwise our favourite hotel! Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointed that a busy night affected the usual good service As it was a Saturday Night in December the hotel was very busy. We felt the dark haired receptionist did not attend to us with the courtesy which we usually have at this hotel in the past. Previous receptionists who were fair haired have always been polite and really welcoming. It was a birthday night celebration too,so we were disappointed at the lack of enthusiasm at check in. We often stay here on special occasions, so were disappointed by this night's service. The room was also cold on entry and took a long time to warm up despite us raising the temperature with the controls. When we woke up I had a sore throat which I felt was due to the air conditioning. This has put me off booking again, as whenever I stay at a hotel I always expect a good service, expecially when I have paid a lot of money for a 1 night stay. The beds are always comforatable though and the room was clean and tidy. December 8, 2012

She asked was everything alright with the room, and when I asked whether there was an ice machine nearby, she immediately offered to get some. About 5 minutes later she came back, apologised for the delay and explained that the machine was broken, but she had instead gone to the bar and brought us some from there. She refused a tip and wished us a good stay - excellent service! December 5, 2012

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Not up to standard Having previously worked for Crowne Plaza I was expecting more from this hotel. The bed in the room was not fit for purpose & the air-con/heater was noisy resulting in 2 poor nights sleep. Overall I think the hotel could do with a make-over as it is looking quite shabby. Food - only had breakfast which was plentiful as it was buffet style, but unfortunately very greasy. Most of the staff during the stay were very helpful. November 30, 2012
