We stayed here over the weekend and found it very relaxing. Room was very comfortable and spotlessly clean. Loved the extra touches e.g.lavender spray for the pillows! Breakfast enjoyable too.
Staff very helpful and location of the hotel couldn't have been better.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 Yet another stay in a room facing a brick wall
We really like this hotel. The location suits us for access to many of the places we frequent, and there is the station and bus stops near by. It's not very central, if that's important to you, though it is very convenient for the City.
As a platinum member we got an upgrade, which was nice. However, the room faced directly onto an internal wall, which somewhat diminished the benefit of the upgrade. It seems that we get a brick wall to view every time we stay here, so please be aware that many rooms have no view if you're planning a stay.

Hotel was excellent. Staff very helpful and great breakfast. Rooms and bathrooms were great. The city is really quiet at the weekend so great for St Pauls, Museum of London, Tate Modern and Millenium Bridge.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by TinaBean Good Value For Money - But Through a Special Deal!
We managed to get a special deal so this was great value for money.
Great location too but we were really disappointed not to be able to eat in the Szechuan Restaurant, which was closed on the weekend we stayed.
Minus points were that the room could have done with touching up, there were hairs in the bath and there wasn't a price list for the mini bar and snacks. We liked the sparkling water and biscuits when we first arrived, although these weren't replenished. We had also requested unsweetened soya milk, which was ignored. We weren't offered our free newspaper either.
Valet parking turned out to be far cheaper than we thought and when we returned on Saturday evening on-street parking was free (athough I imagine far less readily available when the hotel is busy).
The staff were all lovely and very helpful.
Oh and a nice free pen too!!!

I had a great experience at this property and can recommend it. The location is perfect to explore london and just a step from the tube station blackfriars. The rooms look recently refurbished and breakfast was nice.

My wife and I travel to London to see west end shows. We book this hotel every time. The location and quality is out standing. The only draw back is the cost of the food. Breakfast (£26). No full English breakfast in the world is worth that.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by UNHAPPYTRAVELLER99 Expect Unauthorised Credit Card Transactions
Following a recent stay at the Crown Plaza, The City I have discovered unauthorised transactions on my Credit Card. On investigation I have discovered these were for the mini bar. WHICH WE DID NOT USE! On checkout the receptionist read the normal drivel from her script including, "have you used the mini bar" - to which I confirmed NO. However, the Crown Plaza, The City took it upon themselves to take UNAUTHORISED transactions from my Credit Card for the mini bar. Despicable service.
Stay elsewhere!

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by UNHAPPYTRAVELLER99 Beware, unauthorised payments taken from card
Nice hotel but.... I discovered unauthorised payments were taken from my Credit Card by the Crown Plaza-The City Hotel. We did not eat or drink at the hotel, use the internet, watch movies or use the mini bar. So they've robbed us! Stay elsewhere.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by RHRIX A Nice New Year Break
My family and I stayed here for three nights from New Year's Day. The hotel is in a great location with many attractions and the West End within walking distance. Excellent consierge service.
Slightly disappointed not to have a room with a view but not a big problem. Also not enough towels for the four of us and a slight shortage of loo roll!
The food in the lounge was very good with the bonus of children eating for free.
Will be returning - many thanks

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Universallis Not a good Experience
At my arrival room not ready and it seems being a priority member is not relevant they made you feel unwelcome they could not find the reservation on the system and took a long time to solve the problem , problems with the elevators one out of service and the other two are malfunctioning, we booked a room for (4) my wife and two kids and there where never enough towels every day we had to call housekeeping even that we stayed for 7 nights. Room was also not cleaned properly. No clean glasses or water replenish ( btw no priority platinum service no treats or newspaper or welcome letter) maybe it’s the policy of this one to treat all customers the same
Eating at the restaurant was a really bad experience, overprice and also the waiters don’t seem to know what they are doing.
Had problems with my bookings and reservations, paid for the first 4 nights and used my points for the other 3. Don’t know what problem they had that they overcharged me for the first nights and also without my authorization they cancelled one of my reward nights and charged me. Stil trying to fix this.
Also did not credit me with the points of the nights I paid. This hotel experience felt like going to Practice School Hotel….where they are allowed to make so many mistakes because they are learning but not the Crown Flagship of Europe as they called themselves.
Sorry but I will only recommend this hotel if you are willing to ignore the treatment and pay a high price for the location…..

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Pedropup Great weekend trip had by all
The hotel is very convenient for access into the city as well as for nights out. Blackfriers tube and over ground rail station is just across the road but the hotel is very quiet and relaxing.
We had a great time, walking into the west end was easy and refreshing, our Saturday night out was just across the river so the hotel was very convenient for ourselves.
Will definitely be back again.

We first chose this hotel for the fact that my family could stay in the same room and room rates were similiar to other hotels in the area.
My wife and I were glad that we were able to stay at this hotel, the staff were friendly, helpful and prompt with their service. Rooms were comfortable and quiet and was easy to relax after touring London.
This experience made our first trip to London very enjoyable and memoriable.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by alrvd BEST IHG hotel hands down
I have stayed in MANY IHG hotels over the years and this one is by far the best. Great service...wonderful rooms...excellent club lounge...the guest relations manager is amazing at her job...I cannot fully put into words how great this hotel is!
Also the location is superb...right across the street from Blackfriars station for the tube. I even walked to the London eye in 30min.
A+!

we went around the corner to a coffee shop instead for less!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Serves em right. If they cannot speculate to accumulate, TOUGH!!!!!!!!! We gave our custom elsewhere, even though we were staying at C.P,to someone who appreciates it better.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 Not The Best Hotel in London by Far.
If Crown Plaza expects future custom from me, it needs to change. I have stopped at the Holiday Inn in both Kensington and Carburton Street and would recommend both over this hotel. I was upgraded to a club executive room which was tiny and very dusty, if you put the aircon on it really churned the dust about. I didn't once see anyone hoovering a room or hear a hoover over the whole weekend. The bath panel is rotting away also. Room 716 for your reference. The mini bar had been tricked and had empty bottles in which I reported twice. Nobody did anything. On check out not once was I asked did I enjoy my stay? and if you sit in the lobby bar/ food area near the fire you can see rodent traps which put us off eating their straight away. This hotel does not offer any value for money right now and would not recommended it at all. I have stopped in lots of Holiday Inn hotels that are far better than this, I thought Crown Plaza was supposed to be a cut above? I don't think so. I am not a complaining sort normally but I am a Platinum Priority Member and think that this stay is the worst I have ever had, I feel as though an independent opinion needs to be expressed. Maybe they had an off weekend but please be warned before choosing this hotel.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Boxyoscar Great hotel and location
We stayed here for 2 nights, so that we could do all the sightseeing attractions for my son. Hotel was located right next to a underground tube station, which was ideal to get everywhere. Breakfast was fantastic, fresh hot cooked food. Easy check in, gave our son a little activity sheet to complete and he got a prize for doing it. Beds were very comfortable and bathroom was bright, clean and a decent size. Highly recommended hotel

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Samantha27 Immaculate Service!
This was my first trip to this particular Crowne Plaza and I was certainly not disappointed. I had booked a double room as that was the only type available at short notice, but as I was staying with my sister I preferred a twin room. I enquired about this at the front desk, and although there were no twin rooms left the staff very kindly arranged for a room with a sofa bed for me, and the sofa bed was made up for us whilst we were out - perfect! My thanks to Stefano and Yvonne who gave me exemplary and immaculate service throughout my stay.
Gorgeous, clean, and comfortable room - lovely touch with the hot chocolate and shortbread, which was much appreciated! Absolutely perfect location, directly across the road from Blackfriars with direct links to Gatwick and Luton on First Capital Connect and the rest of London via the Circle and District lines.
I was so impressed I've booked again for January to celebrate my anniversary. Thanks again for a wonderful stay!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Travel1000 Good Value for Money
We stayed for only one night but would have liked to stay longer. Great location for us as we were going to the theatre on the south bank. Excellent too for the Blackfriars tube. Friendly staff, helpful with directions and maps. The room was well set out, comfortable bed and good quality bedding. Good tea/coffee making facilities. Liked the shampoos and 'sleep pack'. Excellent TV choices. Only complaint was the draught caused by the air conditioning in the business centre so just make sure you sit in the centre of the room.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by GlamourMum41 Very central location.
The hotel room was comfortable and clean. The breakfast was good, but the staff did not seem to know what they were doing at times. Three guests requested some maple syrup for their pancakes. One member of staff went to get a replacement bottle and never came back. All the guests just stood there waiting and in the end gave up and left their pancakes as they had got cold.
I went to use the gym and sauna while we were there. I informed reception and they said they would turn the sauna on for me while I was working out, so it would be nice and hot. I changed and showered as required before entering the sauna, only to find it freezing cold. I told a member of staff, who said she would let them know in reception. I waited a further 10 minutes and no one came down and the sauna stayed cold. Very disappointing.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Larry49 Newly decorated interior but service doesn't live up to the image
With it's recently decorated interior, this hotel leaves nothing to be desired when it comes to room standard and general ambience.
However, despite "upper-class" pricing, internet access isn't included which must be concidered somewhat weird, as this is a typical business hotel. And the breakfast was a huge disappointment.
Upon checking in I received a discount voucher, which should give me the opportunity to taste their "magnificent breakfast buffet" at "only 16 GBP". After waking up the first morning, I negotiated with myself and eventually decided to give the expensive breakfast a go, which proved to be a huge disappointment.
Not only was the breakfast buffet astonishingly small with a minimum range of variations. The premises wasn't understaffed, but nevertheless the staff wasn't the least attentive.
After stating my room number and providing the discount voucher, I was shown by the headwaiter to a free table, and asked whether I would like coffe or tea. I ansverd politely that I would like a cup of coffe, and made my way to the poor buffet table.
As I sat down, starting to prepare my bread with cheese and ham, I was looking forward to my cup of coffe. But it didn't show up. After five minutes I waved to one of the waitresses, reminding her of my ordered coffee. After ten minutes still no coffee, and waving to the headwaiter reminding him of my coffee. After quarter of an hour, still no coffe and I have difficulties eating bread without any drinks.
As time is running up and I don't want to be late for my business meeting, I loose temper, pick up my plates and unfinished breakfast and walk up to the headwaiter's counter and place it all before him and tell him that I find it ridiculous to sit and wait for hours without being served the coffe I was offered. I also ask him to delete the breakfast fee from my room bill.
I then walk across the street to Starbucks, where I was met by the most attentive, friendly staff, that in no time served me delicous coffe and a tasty sandwich, with a big warm smile!
The hotel should definitely send their restaurant staff for training at Starbucks!
