We stayed here for 2 nights, so that we could do all the sightseeing attractions for my son. Hotel was located right next to a underground tube station, which was ideal to get everywhere. Breakfast was fantastic, fresh hot cooked food. Easy check in, gave our son a little activity sheet to complete and he got a prize for doing it. Beds were very comfortable and bathroom was bright, clean and a decent size. Highly recommended hotel

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Samantha27 Immaculate Service!
This was my first trip to this particular Crowne Plaza and I was certainly not disappointed. I had booked a double room as that was the only type available at short notice, but as I was staying with my sister I preferred a twin room. I enquired about this at the front desk, and although there were no twin rooms left the staff very kindly arranged for a room with a sofa bed for me, and the sofa bed was made up for us whilst we were out - perfect! My thanks to Stefano and Yvonne who gave me exemplary and immaculate service throughout my stay.
Gorgeous, clean, and comfortable room - lovely touch with the hot chocolate and shortbread, which was much appreciated! Absolutely perfect location, directly across the road from Blackfriars with direct links to Gatwick and Luton on First Capital Connect and the rest of London via the Circle and District lines.
I was so impressed I've booked again for January to celebrate my anniversary. Thanks again for a wonderful stay!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Travel1000 Good Value for Money
We stayed for only one night but would have liked to stay longer. Great location for us as we were going to the theatre on the south bank. Excellent too for the Blackfriars tube. Friendly staff, helpful with directions and maps. The room was well set out, comfortable bed and good quality bedding. Good tea/coffee making facilities. Liked the shampoos and 'sleep pack'. Excellent TV choices. Only complaint was the draught caused by the air conditioning in the business centre so just make sure you sit in the centre of the room.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by GlamourMum41 Very central location.
The hotel room was comfortable and clean. The breakfast was good, but the staff did not seem to know what they were doing at times. Three guests requested some maple syrup for their pancakes. One member of staff went to get a replacement bottle and never came back. All the guests just stood there waiting and in the end gave up and left their pancakes as they had got cold.
I went to use the gym and sauna while we were there. I informed reception and they said they would turn the sauna on for me while I was working out, so it would be nice and hot. I changed and showered as required before entering the sauna, only to find it freezing cold. I told a member of staff, who said she would let them know in reception. I waited a further 10 minutes and no one came down and the sauna stayed cold. Very disappointing.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Larry49 Newly decorated interior but service doesn't live up to the image
With it's recently decorated interior, this hotel leaves nothing to be desired when it comes to room standard and general ambience.
However, despite "upper-class" pricing, internet access isn't included which must be concidered somewhat weird, as this is a typical business hotel. And the breakfast was a huge disappointment.
Upon checking in I received a discount voucher, which should give me the opportunity to taste their "magnificent breakfast buffet" at "only 16 GBP". After waking up the first morning, I negotiated with myself and eventually decided to give the expensive breakfast a go, which proved to be a huge disappointment.
Not only was the breakfast buffet astonishingly small with a minimum range of variations. The premises wasn't understaffed, but nevertheless the staff wasn't the least attentive.
After stating my room number and providing the discount voucher, I was shown by the headwaiter to a free table, and asked whether I would like coffe or tea. I ansverd politely that I would like a cup of coffe, and made my way to the poor buffet table.
As I sat down, starting to prepare my bread with cheese and ham, I was looking forward to my cup of coffe. But it didn't show up. After five minutes I waved to one of the waitresses, reminding her of my ordered coffee. After ten minutes still no coffee, and waving to the headwaiter reminding him of my coffee. After quarter of an hour, still no coffe and I have difficulties eating bread without any drinks.
As time is running up and I don't want to be late for my business meeting, I loose temper, pick up my plates and unfinished breakfast and walk up to the headwaiter's counter and place it all before him and tell him that I find it ridiculous to sit and wait for hours without being served the coffe I was offered. I also ask him to delete the breakfast fee from my room bill.
I then walk across the street to Starbucks, where I was met by the most attentive, friendly staff, that in no time served me delicous coffe and a tasty sandwich, with a big warm smile!
The hotel should definitely send their restaurant staff for training at Starbucks!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by roadwarrior8 Great hotel, great price and location
First, I stay in hotels about 100 nights per year (yay...). I really like this hotel because it is far enough away from London attractions to not be terribly expensive, but very, VERY close to the tube and thus 5-10 minutes away from everywhere you want to go for 4 pounds per day. Even Starbucks and Tesco across the street. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Even have promotions throughout the year. They had free, unlimited movies. Perfect for the kids.. As usual, purchase room with breakfast or you will pay more once you arrive!

My family and I stayed at the Crowne Plaza London the City recently.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay,
The overall service we received was in our opinion, first class and we hope to stay at the Hotel during the coming Year.
We would have no hesitation in recommending this Hotel to our friends.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by AdeS Simply the Best
I have stayed at hotels all around the world and simply rate The City as the best.
I am not one to normally write reviews and am very critical when things go wrong. However, The City has consstently met and eeven regularly surppased my expectations in terms of customer services. I stay there now almost every week when in London and it is very gratifying to be recognised and greeted by name by many of the staff (be they front desk or room service). Things do not always go according to plan, but when I do raise an issue they are quick to seek to resolve and ths, in my opinion, sets them apart from other htels (IHG or otherwise).
So, in summary, I fully recommend this hotel. Hope you enjoy your stay there as much as I do - just wish I had more time between work t really enjoy the facilities!

Everything about hotel was first class and staff were particularly helpful with any requests we made.
This was a busy weekend with the Lord Mayor's Parade and Remembrance Sunday which we thought would hinder our access, but with the convenience of being close to the Blackfriars Tube and Rail Station and the Embankment proved to be unfounded.
As I said could not have been better and would use this hotel again.

Booked this hotel as I had stayed before. Not dissappointed.
Staff friendly, helpful and polite.
Loved the new lounge eating area.
Had a great meal in the Italian resturant. My son thought the steak was better than in the new Jamie Oliver place!
Enjoyed a very pleasant, comfy and relaxing weekend.
A favourite hotel.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Karen100 Great stay in London
I was initially a bit worried about staying in this part of London outside the main tourist area, but was recommended the hotel by the Crowne Plaza staff and I'm so glad I booked it. It's right across the road from Blackfriars station and I could not fault the hotel at all. The staff were excellent throughout, the rooms were lovely and whilst it may not please everyone we asked for a high floor and had one of the rooms facing the inner 'courtyard' so you have absolutely no traffic noise. I have already recommended this hotel to my friends & would definitely stay here again - in fact I am now a Crowne Plaza convert!
We like to eat out at night rather than stay in our hotel and there was lots of choice locally - we ate out in the shadow of St Paul's - a pleasant 5-10 minute walk away. Overall, a great hotel with faultless customer service

We booked a 2 night, 2 room stay at The City and I have to say that it is the best stay in London I have experienced.
The location is excellent, rooms are fabulous and the staff (especially Katherine Nelson) was great in helping organise the visit.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone and everyone.
My parents and son both had a great post birthday surprise.
Thanks again, Graham

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 Very Convenient.
We were staying here for a half term break. The hotel is very convenient to the recently refurbished Blackfriars Underground - right accross the road, a 2 minute walk! We travelled on the Gatwick Express to get here, however the concierge informed us that we could have taken a direct train to Blackfriars Station from Gatwick Airport. This would be worth checking out if you are arriving in London via Gatwick, probably cheaper and avoids changing at busy Victoria. St Pauls, the Millenieum Bridge and Tate Modern are also within walking distance of the hotel. Rooms very comfortable breakfast excellent. The air conditioning in our room was not working on our first night so we were given a Club room to sleep in until they were able to fix it the next day. All we transferred was our PJs and toothbrushes! Staff were very helpful especially the manager that evening. Thank you K. Would definitely stay at this hotel again.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Busmanbill Lovely room but poor breakfast
Having spenta weekend break at this hotel, we were impressed with the standard of the room and had a great night's sleep. In the morning. however, having paid a significant amount for breakfast in the Club Lounge we were looking forward to it. When we got there the only cooked offering was help yourself bacon & scrambled egg. There were pastries, cold meat and fruit etc. but this was England on a cold morning and we expect a decent fry-up.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Chiffu Not up to Usual Standard
This hotel is located in an excellent position, especially if you do not want to be swamped with West End life and appreciate the finer points of The City. However, on this occasion, the service was disappointing: no functioning Priority Club check-in, mis-information from reception, room not fully equipped, non-delivery of newspaper ordered (twice), unacceptably slow service in The Reffetorio restaurant, disturbed late evening by delivery of bedding which I hadn't ordered and, to crown it all, two errors in my bill when checking-out! A disappointing experience, but still recommended, based on previous visits and colleagues' experiences.

This hotel is very nice reception staff a bit slow the downside was returning to hotel at 11 pm with tied children found that there beds were not made when someone eventually came they covered bedding in blood from a cut to his hand and expected children would still use the bed apart from that not a bad stay

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Windyhill26 Good location for a family break
I spent some time looking form somewhere to stay in London which could accommodate two adults and two teenage children. The Crown Plaza offered rooms with two double beds (rather than a double bed and a sofa bed offered by a lot of the other hotels). It was clean, the staff were helpful and it was a good base for three days in London.

My family stayed at the Crowne Plaza during a trip to London to take my elder child to university. The location across from Blackfriars underground stop was very convenient, and the staff could not have been more helpful with facilitating our arrangements for touring and dining. We would be happy to return to the hotel on our next trip to London.

Quality one expects from this hotel group. Ideal for transport ie Bus and Tube both within 5 mins of front door. Easy walking distance to Oxford St and the embankment for those able and fit to do so. My wife had come out of hospital a few days earlier and was restricted in walking far, but even walking slowly and stopping for a few coffees it only took 40min to the shops in Oxford St. Excelent room and surprisingly quiet with the glazing considering location on a main St so close to St Pauls.

My husband and I stayed here for our anniversary and had a fabulous time! The room was exquisite and offered a partial view of St. Pauls Cathedral. The bed was very comfortable and the water pressure in the shower was perfect. The decor throughout the hotel is very chic and the staff was excellent, very hospitable. Also, the hotel is in a prime location, literally right across the street from the Blackfriars tube station. We will definitely return!
