Expected more;Staff very nice

Spent 2 nights in this property last week. The hotel is under renovation and the elevator service was pretty bad. The staff was very accommodating and could not have been friendlier. That said, the room could use some improvements. I asked for a King Size bed and got a queen. No upgraded room, although Ambassador Platinum status with IHG. The room is definitely on the small side. I was by myself, but if there was more than one person, it would definitely be cramped. Yes, I have stayed in London before and the rooms seem to be smaller than other major cities. The desk chair was very low end. Sort of like summer furniture. Not of the quality or comfort expected. Plastic cups in the bath instead of glass. No conditioner. Skimped on towels. 2nd night only one of each size. Portions in the Italian restaurant were very small compared to other restaurants. Charged for bread which always rubs me the wrong way. Overall the staff was the high point. Room, not so much. This property does the job, but nothing to rave about.

Good Location, Disappointing Rooms

I wanted two hotel rooms for myself, my brother and 3 teenagers and so booked two twin rooms and requested a rollaway bed in one of them for the third person. Upon checking in I was told this was not possible and so two of us ended up sharing a bed which was not really convenient. We had no view as they were both internal rooms. I have to say we were disappointed but we did not intend spending too much time in the rooms and so we put up with the inconvenience. I requested extra things for the third person such as a cup and coffee etc which were brought to us but then removed by housekeeping in the morning.

I had to request the free wifi which is provided to IHG members. We were not offered newspapers.

The location is excellent, which made up for the room.

Quickest in room dining experience ever !

During my stay I rang in room dining. After the order I decided to reshen up quickly not realizing that 5 minutes after my order they were already knocking on the door. This was by far the quickest room service experience ever!
