Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A memorable anniversary We had stayed previously on a room only basis and this time booked for bed and breakfast and dinner at Quilon. On arrival we were given an upgrade to a superior room which was very spacious and tastefully decorated with a super bathroom. We enjoyed a relaxing drink in Hamptons bar and dined at Quilon. We were looking forward to this as we enjoy Indian food, and this was easily the finest we had ever tasted. The scallops were delicious, as was the coconut chicken, and the fish dishes were so good it is easy to see why they are the speciality of the house. We could not believe how reasonable the bill was for such a fine quality dining experience. Breakfast was also good, but we were not advised it was a buffet on entering the restaurant, and from our table the buffet area was not visible, so it was a case of having to ask what the procedure was. Perhaps this could be improved upon. The checkin and out was very efficient, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We fully intend to return and to sample the pleasures of Quilon again. April 15, 2013

Nice location near the tube station and a few minutes walking to Westminster Cathedral and Parliament. Storage for luggage the day of our departure. Tea and coffee in the room. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by A Pleasant stay Convenient location, excellent staff (very welcoming). Excellent food at breakfast in the Bistro. Beds and room very comfortable. Only drawback was the noise of water running during the night and at ten to five in the morning. The main compliant was when the concierge phoned our room for no reason at 12.10a.m and wakened us out of our night's sleep and we were unable to get back to sleep for several hours. When I answered the phone there was no-one there but the front desk were able to check and tell us that it had been the concierge but he hadn@even spoken when I answered the phone. When I brought this to the attention of the front desk they then put a do not disturb on the phone until we checked out. This incidient marred an otherwise enjoyable stay. April 7, 2013

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Easter Break Chose this Hotel on location and it certainly delivered on that at reception arrival went well looking forward to seeing room. We were disappointed with the room what was the rumbling noise ?? Guess the lift shaft ran up and down our inside wall the external wall looked onto the noisy air conditioning hence the windows were frosted--no view. Whilst the room had everything you would expect and was basically clean the décor and carpets were tired and had the marks of a long history. The room was adequate for the rate paid and as long a we took turns to sit and walk around the bed it was manageable beware of room 155 April 5, 2013

Hotel lovely, clean and well presented. room was excellent and nice little touches like toiletries and a couple of complimentary chocolates. Staff were so helpful, friendly and smiley. Breakfast on the first morning was excellent, however on the 2nd morning we were ushered through to the conference rooms to deal with the overspill from the restaurant. This unfortuntely was not as pleasant as the main breakfast area and didn't offer the same choice of food. I'm surprised if this is the first time that the hotel has found itself in this situation. Also strange that the hotel boasts a number of restaurants but we were asked to eat in conference rooms. Anyway, I have already passed this feedback to the hotel and await their response. In the meantime, a great hotel, good value and a fab location. Will return. April 5, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by wonderful hotel My husband and I arrived in London and checked into an American Express recommended fine hotel for 2 nights.We were upgraded to a Superior King room which to our surprise was totally disappointing. The room was dark, the layout odd, the rug tattered. The TV was so far from the bed we could just about see the screen. We were going to be in London for 4 additional nights and decided to look for another hotel. In our travels we came upon the Crowne Plaza St. James, remembered our travel agent mentioning it, so decided to stop in and check it out. The hotel exterior is under renovation but even so we liked the look and went in. The lobby is beautiful and inviting. The front desk staff professional and friendly. We booked a room, superior King which was at least half the cost than our previous hotel. When entering the room we were delighted! It was bright and clean and faced the courtyard which was beautiful. We loved the restaurants and the entire staff from housekeeping to the concierge. The bar area was so relaxing after a day of siteseeing for a glass of wine or cup of coffee or tea. The piano player was a bonus. Our needs or requests were immediately responded to. The location was perfect! Within walking distance to many attractions and shopping areas. We loved that we were able to walk and be at the palace within minutes and shopping and parks, the eye all with walks no longer than 45 minutes. We checked out at 4 am called to have our luggage picked up and had someone at our door within 5 minutes, checkout took no longer that 5 mins. Everything about this hotel was a pleasure and I let AE know that our stay at this hotel was far superior to their 5 star fine hotel recommendation. We will surely look for a Crowne Plaza or affiliate for our next vacation. Thank you to all the staff for a wonderful stay. April 1, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent location This hotel is very near several main tube stations as well as multiple attractions. Walking to most things was very easy, and the tube made the rest a breeze. We loved the heated towel bar in our room, the bathroom was very spacious and modern, and the room was comfortable and met our needs. Concierge was very helpful with information, making reservations for tea at Harrods, and calling a cab for the train station. Our room included breakfast, which offered many choices and we never had to wait for a table more than a few minutes for the two of us (the larger the group, likely a longer wait). Check out was simple as we had prepaid. We literally walked up to the counter, said our room number, they smiled and said "thank you" and we were off to Kings Cross! Lovely stay! March 31, 2013

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by COULDN'T SLEEP THE STAFF WERE LOVELY REALLY HELPFUL THE ROOM WAS FINE, BUT THE NOISE FROM WHAT I PRESUME WAS THE HEATING /AIR CONDITIONING ROOM WHICH I PRESUME OUR ROOM OVERLOOKED WAS QUITE LOUD ALL NIGHT ,BECAUSE IT WAS A SPECIAL PRICE AND IT WAS ONLY ONE NIGHT I COULDN'T BE BOTHERED TO COMPLAIN. THE HOTEL IS IN A VERY GOOD LOCATION AND IT WAS A BEAUTIFUL HOTEL WITH LOVELY STAFF AND I WOULD GLADLY STAY AGAIN IN A QUITE ROOM . WE WENT DOWN FOR BREAKFAST AT 7AM BUT THE COOKED BREAKFAST COULD HAVE BEEN HOTTER March 31, 2013

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good location but mediocre accommodation and service Hotel was chosen primarily for location. For that it was ideal. The rooms are a little tired, though they do have all the usual features (kettle, Iron etc). However the plumbing in the room I stayed in needs fixing (sink wouldn’t empty until I pulled the fixed plug all the way out and there was a horrible smell from the bath plug when I showered). I didn’t eat in the hotel but did use the bar. The service was Ok though I did have to chase my drinks order up. So an OK hotel but that’s all March 26, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by 90TH BIRTHDAY TREAT We stayed in this Hotel on the 15th March 2013 for our Mums 90th Birthday Treat. Checking in was very smooth and all of our rooms were ready, the receptionist wished our mum a Happy Birthday which she loved. The rooms were excellent nice sizes and very clean (little touches in the rooms of chocolates were very nice) and the hotel is beautiful. We found the location of the hotel was just perfect for us as we wanted to show our mum the sights, without having to push the wheelchair too far. We dined in the hotel (Bistro51) on two nights and found the food to be some of the nicest we have tasted, which along with the excellent service form the staff made for two very nice evenings. We would highly recommend this Hotel to anyone and will certainly be using it again. March 25, 2013

Rooms are old and overheated. need to be renovated and the hotel should provide earplugs, especially weeks days including saturdays due to the noisy construction work around. March 24, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Impressive Hotel and great service The first impression on entering the Lobby was excellent - decor, ambiance and courtesy of reception staff. The process of booking in was efficient and extremely polite, speedy and helpful. The Standard room was very clean although the furnishings were a little tired and some items were in need of attention. We were very comfortable on the three nights we spent there. We only had one meal in the hotel - The Bank Restaurant - an excellent experience! The staff were attentive, jovial and very obliging. The food was pretty good, too! The location is great for Buckingham Palace and other landmarks, and St James' Undergound Station is only about 10 minutes away. I would recommend this Hotel March 24, 2013

On arrival the receptionist who dealt with us was friendly and welcoming. This is a very nice hotel and is easily as luxurious as some in Park Lane. The room we occupied had obviously been recently refurbished to a good standard and its cleanliness was impeccable. It was always cosily warm but not too hot. Even though our room was on the front of the hotel, it wasn't noisey and we slept well every night. The hot water could have been a little hotter. The Location is reasonably central, being just a stones throw from Buckingham Palace and yes we did see the Queen and Prince Philip who just happened to be leaving the Palace as we passed the gate one evening. All in all, we found this to be a very nice hotel with a friendly atmosphere and would not hesitate to recommend it or stay here again March 23, 2013

I first stayed at the Crowne Plaza St James in August last year and thought I had found the best Hotel of its class in London, alas what a difference six months can make. The Hotel looks great and 99% of the staff are still some of the friendliest, most helpful and efficient in London. However our experience at breakfast on both days, directed to an upstairs room, a wait for a table and an overcrowded breakfast room, has taken some of the shine off our visit. The other disappointing thing was the nasty smell in the bathroom which was reported to the front desk but not resolved. The room itself was really nice and it is a shame that a small plumbing problem can cloud the stay at what is otherwise a superb hotel. March 23, 2013

I will most certainly recommend this hotel and I will come back again. Just one thing I was not happy about was in the hotel room guest information book it said that the Zander Bar closes at 1am. Not so it closes at 11pm. I wanted to use that particular bar when I came back with my guests after a night out in London. We had to use the hotel bar and their charges were outrageous . The hotel should do something about both of these subject. It did not alter the fact that this was a good hotel and well worth a visit. March 21, 2013

For this stay I was given a renovated room which was much better and more enjoyable. Be sure to stay in a renovated room. For both stays room size was nice and spacious for London standards.
