This hotel is great and the staff are helpful and polite, However I needed a fridge in my room . they brought one quickly. But it cost me 20 extra dollars a day to have it.. outrageous price for a fridge..Other then the fridge I would recommend this hotel clean and nice..

I will not stay at this hotel again. I was there on business and right outside my windows was an area fenced in for dogs. I guess there was a dog show going on as there were Pomeranians everywhere. There was a lot of yipping from these small dogs outside my window. I also like my room to be very cool when I sleep and this hotel has it's thermostats locked so that you can only go to 68 degrees. I guess I expected more from a hotel with the Crowne Plaza name on it. It is also across the street from the airport and you can hear planes taking off and landing.

I would NOT recommend this hotel. The week I stayed there, there was a dog show in the building. Instead of having customers with pets all together on one floor to bother each other, they were comingled. I was awoken EVERY morning at 5AM by barking. When I called the front desk, they happily informed me that they knew they were Puppy Palace for the week. There was nothing they could do about it. One time I was promised a voice message resolution. Didn't happen. If you're gonna stay here, ask about animals because you might just be staying in a kennel instead of a hotel. That's what it felt like to me!
Hotel is dated and the AC fan made a LOUD sound as well. I had to ask if they had my rewards # at check in and was told no. After a couple of minutes of my searching I was told oh yes, I have it.

I appreciated the quiet and cleanliness of the hotel. There was a Dog Show competition in the hotel and I can honestly say I never heard a bark the entire 4 days of my stay. I also appreciated that being a priority club member afforded me a late check out at no additional expense. I was able to work peacefully and relax on a very nice balcony overlooking the pool. My only request would be to add a refrigerator to the rooms. Often I like to keep cold beverages on hand or may have medicines that need to keep cold. Just a suggestion as I cannot find one complaint.

My plans were to stay 5 days but because there was a Dog Show somewhere in the area, they chose to stay at this property. When I am treated with less importance than the dogs, the need to be somewhere else was necessary.
At checkin, I was given a room that was not what was on the confirmation email. When asked about it, I was told by the front desk person "there's nothing I can do." After speaking with management, I was offered something better but still not what was confirmed. Because I am a Holiday Inn advocate, I accepted. However, the dogs sniffing me on the elevator and the owner saying "they just want to know you" was totally unacceptable. I respect people for their love of their pets but don't impose that on me. I am NOT a pet person. And to add insult to frustration, I had to listen to a GREAT DANE #small horse# barking over in the night as well as riding the elevator.
I had to move to another hotel and pay a higher rate but my blood pressure was somewhat lower. I am still an IHG advocate but as a platinum member, I need just a little more consideration. And to top it off, I didn't qualify for reward points. IJS
This was a horrible experience.

The crowne plaza louisville airport expo center is by far the best around near SDF airport. Convenient, close to airport , and excellent customer service .
The blue horse restaurant located inside the hotel has an excellent staff and chef whom sole priority is to provide the customers with the best quality food there is .
Thank you !

We use this property as an overflow for our primary when overnighting at SDF. I would like to see us make this our #1. I love the Staff at the lounge, food is always simply and terrific. Local flavours at the tap really make the stay unique.
My only issue is one largely industry wide and that is simply this... I find I need to avoid booking king beds anymore due to the fact that the mattresses have all gone south relative to where the TV and clock are located. The sloping is so pronounced (and it was for me even on the double beds I booked this go-round) that I felt as though I was sleeping on a hillside. This is one of those nagging issues that is often disguised by the fluffy and desirable thick bedding. Management needs to tour the rooms "hands-on", perhaps even "body-on" to better appreciate what I am referencing. Aside form that, the rooms were a tad dated, but quiet with good functioning HVAC.

I really love Crowne Plaza and I always look to see if there is one in the area we are visiting. We found the food in the restaurant to be really quite good. Our bed was extremely comfortable and the room quite clean and orderly. Our dirty glasses were not removed and replaced, but that was just an inconvenience.
Two concerns we had were in the fitness room. Out of the 3 treadmills, only 1 was operating properly which defeated our working out together. Also, the TV's in that room were on but we couldn't control the stations or the volume. This was really frustrating. Watching something one enjoys and is able to hear makes the workout go much more quickly. When we reported this to the front desk, we were told they knew about the remotes. I know most folks bring their own headsets, etc. but we were only gone from home for about 48 hours and tried to pack minimally.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by huggins88 Great Location for the Expo Center!
The check in process was super fast, efficient and friendly. We received an upgrade in our room, without even asking. The Expo Center is within walking distance, even for a 50 year old! LOL The room was very nicely decorated. I especially liked the window treaments. The bed was so comfortable. We had a TV in the living room and one in the bedroom. The food in the restaurant was a bit pricey so we did not ever eat there.

We had the King Bed Suite and it was wonderful. The room was large, the bed was comfortable and the furniture was modern. I would recommend this hotel for families. It is right next to the Exposition Center and convenient to many restaurants and activities.

Excellent facility and very convenient for the event we were attending. Front desk staff however was not what you would expect from a hotel of this caliber. Upon check in they tried to charge us $45 more than what we were quoted at time of reservations and also promised us a $20.00 breakfast coupon that ended up being a $10 meal voucher even though it said $13 on the voucher. After arguing with front desk they agreed to room charge that we were originally quoted. We will be attending an annual event in this area for the next several years but probably wont be staying there again.

when I booked the room I was told it included a complimentary breakfast. At the price, that seemed reasonable. When we went to the lobby we were told there was no such thing. No one checked a computer or seemed interested. When we went to the restaurant and inquired, we were met with a negative response and a shrug. Again, no interest or checking. Rather disappointing.
The group we were with had planned a pizza party by the pool at the end of the childrens' competition. I do not know first hand, but the coach says he cleared it with front desk.
When pizza arrived, the pool lifeguard said no food allowed by the pool #although it was not on any sign# and held fast, even after checking with the front desk. It was raining; she said we could sit on the outer deck, in the rain. Really? Finally they gave us a room for the pizza distribution and the kids sat on the floor in the hall outside the lobby to eat their pizza, with nicely dressed people coming through for an event stepping around them. Did not seem to be a "good" solution.

Very disappointed with our stay. I booked in advance a room with 2 queen beds. Upon check in I was told they don't quarantee the room type so we had to take a room with a King bed and a sofa bed, sofa beds are never comfortable. Room 206 is has an ice machine on the other side of the wall and we heard it making/dropping ice all night long. Also there must be a drain pipe in the wall so we heard water draining all night long, we were exhaused the next day due to lack of sleep and my son had to compete in a tournament. The room had ants in it,the ants were crawling all over the sofa bed and the bedspread on the King bed. Again very disappointing after our great experience last year when we stayed at the Crowne Plaza at Univeral Studios in FL. Room 206 should be turned into a broom closet.

When I called the front desk to request a late check out I was told, "no" very rudely. I was in town for a graduation from the southern police institute and needed to stay and check out later in the day. So then I said I would just stay an extra night and pay for the room and once again was told no. I will not be back.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by TorontoBill4 Very good service was the highlight.
Can't opine on "value" since we stayed in Derby week when everything is much more expensive. We were originally given an unsatisfactory room, which was improved when we complained. Suite was spacious and comfortable, although the dim lighting in the living room was inadequate for reading, which was ridiculous. Could not make the air conditioning fan work on "low", so we got blasted with cold air during the night.
The hotel's facilities offered great variety. The breakfast restaurant menu offered very few healthy choices, but I guess most guests like biscuits and gravy and sausage for breakfast!
Service level was great, especially the Concierge desk, both before and after we arrived. Staff were very friendly.

Overall, we had a good experiences. I rated the value as fair since we had to pay the crazy high Derby rate for 3 nights.
The staff was excellent except for a less than enthusiastic desk staff and a chippy bar tender on Wednesday evening. The restuarant staff was incredably busy, but carried on like champs.

We traveled to Louisville last week for the Kentucky Derby. We are Platinum Priority Club Members, and we reserved a king non-smoking room. When we arrived, they put us in a 2 queen bed room, and were unwilling to make the change. Normally this isn't a big deal, but my husband is very tall, so it's difficult to sleep in a queen bed together (we are a very fit couple, but it's difficult to share a small bed with such a tall person). We were just going to suck it up and each sleep in our own queen beds, but one of the queen beds in our room was BROKEN, so we squeezed into a queen bed uncomfortably for 3 nights as they claimed they had no other rooms available and were unwilling to make the change. We later found out they are the sister hotel to the Galt House hotel downtown, so there was definitely room to accommodate a Priority Club Member, or any guest for that matter.
ON TOP OF THAT, the front desk lady sent us to our room with an envelope (which is quite the hike - at least a 5-7 minute walk with their slow elevators). When we arrived at our room, there were NO keys in the envelope. Luckily housekeeping was on the floor and called for us. It took someone almost 15 minutes to bring us new keys, and when they arrived, the keys didn't work! When we FINALLY got into our room, there was a bulb burned out in the bathroom and on a lamp in the room.
We also never got housekeeping the entire time, as we read with other reviews that other guests have had issues with items disappearing.
The front desk staff was also very rude, and unhelpful at times. I recommend staying downtown for the Derby, as the cab fares literally double during the Kentucky Derby. Our cab driver told us the city raises the cab fares during the Derby, so it cost us almost $60 roundtrip to get to and from downtown from the hotel. The hotel shuttle ONLY takes you to and from the airport. The hotel is literally surrounded by hotels and the airport. There are no restaurants (except the one inside the hotel, which has pretty good food) or anything to do.
Luckily, there were other people who worked at the hotel and who were staying at the hotel who were nice to us, and I would say the people of Louisville, overall, are very nice and friendly. Unfortunately, we just had a not pleasant experience with this hotel.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by KazzoBruce This is a busy property
We stayed the evening after the opening of the spring meet at Churchill Downs. The place was packed with a prom, basketball event, some meetings, pilots from the airport,. But the lobby is high ceiling and spacious. Quite nice for a older property. It has that old time stately look.
The room appointments were on the older side, but very well maintained. We has a mini suite on the second floor with two queen beds. It was quite large. Even had some of those old time luxuries, a sink in and outside the bath.
We were on the second floor so our view was of the roof, but a higher room would have a nice view of the airport. Being very close to the airport, it would seem it would be louder, but only occasionally when a UPS DC-10 aircraft arrived did I hear anything.
They have a shuttle to Churchill Downs, but don't expect one on the return. Take a taxi, its only $10.
The bar is open till midnight. I don't know why, it was packed, why would someone close a packed bar? I know they are allowed to stay open till 4 in Kentucky. This is the same for the Holiday inn down the street, closes even when occupied.
Good location for the Downs, not too far from the Distilleries.

A good way to tell about the quality of a hotel is through its linen. A scratchy washcloth is a dead give away for a horrible stay. Your bed and bath linen were excellent.

When I arrived, there were long lines and the staff all looked and expressed how exhausted they were. When I asked how she was doing ... "I'm here" ... is the response I got. Additionally, I was not offered the free drink or bottle of water for being a priority rewards member - something my colleague in front of me did receive. When you pay this much for a nicer hotel, service is what you'd expect. Disappointed in the service received and will book in advance to avoid this hotel in the future!

Recently stayed here during a volleyball tournament and the hotel was packed. The first night, the room next to us was LOUD until 3 a.m. Security had to go 3 times to the room. When I asked to move rooms, the hotel was very accommodating and our second room was much better from a noise perspective. However, the management only comped us $30 off our first night bill. This is an expensive hotel and the policy is that if you haven't checked in by 2 a.m., they will charge you a night stay and cancel your room. I feel that they should have comped us at least half the cost of the room based on the noise level until 3 a.m. - and this is an hour past THEIR deadline. Overall the experience was ho-hum. Friends stayed at a hotel across the street and had a wonderful experience in a very bright and clean environment...for less than half the price.

Eighth floor hallway smelled like cafeteria food for the entire weekend. Creaky elevator made my wife nervous. Hard to change channels on the Sharp TV for some reason. No restaurants really close by, but about 2 miles to the east are the usual suspects such as Taco Bell, Bob Evans, McDonalds. All that being said, I would still stay here because the room was clean and quiet.

My children were SOO DISAPPOINTED that the pool was not working on a Saturday night. They did not try to make it up to me by offering me free breakfast. When the pool did open again, it was one hour before closing time. If you want bottled drinks, you have to go down the hallway and go into a tiny room (that looks like it used to be a laundry room) with a vending machine. There really is a LACK of service for minimal things that are the norm at lower priced hotels. When you call the front desk from your room, it takes them 10 rings before they pick up the phone.
