I have stayed here many, many times. This time the A/C didn't work but the airport shuttle was still late. The quiet floor is anything but when the cleaners arrive.

This property is getting old, tired, and simply worn out. I would be okay with an aging property IF it was at least clean, but we found our room to be FILTHY. There was a brown ring in the toilet and the carpet had not been vacuumed in a while. The overall carpet had lint, strings and other dirt all over, the edges were visibly dirty from extensive neglect, we found wrappers along the baseboards and in the corners, sunflower seeds by the nightstand, and one of my young children found a purple pill in the middle of the floor. I peeked between the headboard and wall - to say I was grossed out to the point of almost being nauseous by the filth there is an understatement.
I took plenty of photos, and when I shared them with the front desk, along with the mystery medication found on the floor, they to their credit, did move us promptly. Even though the second room was somewhat cleaner, I was so grossed out from the first room that I couldn't sleep that night.
We stayed on the 4th floor, the floor they say was 'most recently' renovated. I wonder what the other floors look like? As far as the other spaces in the hotel - the hallway carpets are frayed and obviously hadn't been vacuumed in quite some time, the elevator carpets were badly stained, the pool area was missing tile in locations. Yes, This property is getting old, but at least clean it!!!!

As a Gold memeber, I could not have been more disappointed in my visit from the checkin personality to the clogged sink, broken air conditioning to the dirty sheets. The lobby was beautiful but once I moved beyond that, it was a very, very bad expereince!
The person who checked me in at the front desk did not smile or greet me with a simple "hello"; rather their first comment was "what is your name". If I would have had ANY flexibility in my travel schdule, I would have checked out as soon as I entered my room....what an increadble waste of money!

It was only 3 months ago when I left a very poor review for this hotel. My experience this time was much improved. The staff was professional and courteous. The room was clean. The air conditioner did not seem to be working correctly but it did get the job done. I would now recommend this hotel to anyone.

Thermostat in the room did not work. I was told to just turn it up and it will warm up. I turned it up to 85 and the room never got above 65. There was a constant humming sound - thought it was the fan - turned that off and still the humming sound. Was told that it was a king size bed and it was a full size bed for myself and my 74y/r mother.

Nice hotel, close to Interstate. We stayed here while passing through from Minneapolis to Chicago. Our king room was clean with a standard layout. Comfortable bed and bedding. Our room faced in toward the atrium and we were on the 3rd or 5th floor (can't remember). It was a Sunday night and quiet, no noise issues. The hotel is getting older and has it's share of bumps and bruises on the walls and carpet. But overall, it was clean and comfortable. Worth the price we paid through our coupon book. By being a IHG member I got a free coffee at the Starbuck's counter which is conveniently located in the lobby. Since only there for the night, we didn't use the pool or other amenities or eat at the restaurant. We drove down the block about a quarter of a mile and had breakfast at a pancake house. The area around the hotel seemed nice and safe. We had no issues and would stay here again.

This is a very nice hotel and the staff will do just about any and all to accomodate all your needs. Huge pool and the hot tub has the most powerful jets I have ever experienced.
Food and drinks are great, very, very spacious foyer, lounging area and if you like to swim, big ole indoor pool.....
Right across the street from the mall. Eats, nails, fun and variety all within walking distance.
Nice work and hats off Crown Plaza....

I have stayed at this hotel many times. It seems they have had some issues with the front desk turnover as well as maintenance on their rooms. I feel disrespected when I tell someone a fact and they tell me it could not be true and then it ends up true and the person neglects to apologize. I have it in my record a specific area I do not wish to stay in the hotel as it is old and in need of remodel. They always put me there even though it is clearly in my records not to. I also asked for the first floor and I am told their are no suites on the first floor, which I know is not true since I have stayed in at least 5. There is no need to lie to your customers.
Last time I stayed here I pulled back the covers to fins a spot the size of my palm on the sheets. This time the air conditioner only blew warm air. it was in the 70's outside, and the toilet ran constantly. I do not like having to take the cover of the toilet off each time I use the toilet. This hotel has gone hill dramatically the last 3-6 months. I like the location as it is very convenient for my working needs. I hope they improve. I am staying there again in the very near future.. Stay tuned.

Called for the free shuttle from the airport at 8 PM and was told it would take a half an hour. I took a cab because it was late and I had a 6 am flight the next day and wanted to get some dinner and go to bed. Arrived at the hotel 15 minutes later and was told the shuttle was on its way back from the airport with a flight crew.
Dropped my stuff in my room and went back down to the lobby to print a boarding pass. Waited in line at the desk to get the password to the computer and told them I wanted to print my boarding pass. They gave me the password and I went and generated my boarding pass only to find that the printer was out of toner. Waited in line again and was told that they new the toners was out. Wonder why they din't tell be before I went through all the trouble to generate it. I had to go back up to my room and regenerate it and email it to the front desk and go down and get it.
The lobby was full of kids with few parents in sight. They were playing on the elevator which didn't make all the trips up and down much fun. Its now after nine, so dinner turned into a sandwich at the bar.
Next morning I arrived in the lobby for my 5 AM shuttle and had to wait till a flight crew made it down, so we were late. To be fair the security guard who drove us was very apologetic and did what he could to get me to the airport as soon as possible.
I would never recommend this hotel or stay there again.

Lobby area was beautiful as always. Didn't eat dinner there this time. Menu hasn't changed in years! Pretty much tired of it. Room was nice except ceiling over tub was badly damaged by water. Should have been repaired long ago. And the shower curtain was not quite big enough. Also, as a priority club member, I called the front desk to get a late check-out okayed. However, the info was not forwarded to Housekeeping. They knocked on my door 3 times...the first time getting me out of bed. The last time the floor manager (I guess# said she had never been told of my request. I forwarde this to the front #on my own...they didn't ask me how things were). They thanked me and said they'd contact staff. That was it! Why should I come back?

Front desk was very polite and helpful. The person checking us in was new but did her job very well and was very polite and patient. The morning desk was just the same.

The rooms that provide a view of East Washington Street are quite noisy after 6 a.m. The wireless internet was not dependable. The hotel did a good job of hosting the conference I was attending, but I would not stay here again as a business traveler.

This place is a great value, nice clean rooms & common areas but this place is in definite need of a renovation. Everything looks worn & dated however cleanliness has never been an issue.
Also, food & drinks in the lobby are not bad.

Welcome was by far the best I have yet to experience in the Crown Plaza chain. Employee that just went up and above her normal duties. Jackie is the one employee that stood out above all the employees that I came in contact with while I was there. Jackie ensured I was well taken care of from check-in to check-out then onto the airport. She deserves to be applauded for her excellent customer service skills. Down side to my stay no points so sad lol.

I stayed there and being a platinum ambassador, I was pleased with the initial greeting. Went to the restaurant, and shortly after got very sick. The next morning, thinking I could maybe sweat it out, went to the front desk to ask where the fitness center was, and mentioned my ill effects. He grunted an "Ugh" like I was inconveniencing him. I then threw a letter to customer care and the GM was totally unapologetic and after she left a voice mail, and didn't return my call twice, she then sent an e-mail making it seem like they run a perfect hotel and that was impossible. To add insult to injury, the TV's didn't work in my room, and the priority lounge had "eggs with seasonal vegetables" which translates to scrambled eggs with broccoli. BROCCOLI?! I'm on pace for 112 stays in an IHG property in 2012 and this by far was and is the worst!

The young lady who was taking orders in the bar area did not recognize me at all. I watched her wait 5 to 6 other tables in the area and she did not say one word to me. She was terrible, and should not be a hostess. My complaint at the front desk got me a free breakfast but I seriously doubt anything was said to her. I saw her working the next night and decided not to drink nor dine in the hotel.

Being on the road does wear on a traveler. You never know what you will be walking into on any given stay. This stay was phenomenal. Staff was kind, attentive and helpful . Highly recommend.

The server in the bar area was wonderful!!! I think her name was "Lacey", or something similar. She was very responsive and pleasant - she did a great job!!!
However, check-in was terribly long at around 5:00 pm on 11/8.... My two colleagues each waited in line for about 20 minutes each. In fact, when one of my collegues finally got to the desk, the phone rang and the desk person answered the phone and proceeded to take a reservation. Unbelievable!!! This needs to be resolved.

I travel to Madison frequently on business and have always stayed with the Madison Crowne Plaza. It has been around for awhile and undergone several renovations. It has had grand times and hard times. Now this hotel is back where a luxury hotel should be... and at a very competitive price. I stay here because of those amenities and its location near good restaurants and shopping. Newer hotels are available in close vicinity and I have given them a try too, but the Crowne Plaza is still the nicest.
