Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by ACOG Conference Bed was too high for most people. My necklace was stolen from the soap dish located in the restroom. I have called everyday since we checked out to see if it turned in. Takes at least 20-30 minutes for the water in the shower to become hot. May 13, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect hotel for a NOLA stay The Astor Crowne Plaza has everything I look for when selecting a hotel: easy transportation from and to the airport, location central to what I plan to see, high quality and tasteful decor of the physical building, guest rooms and amenities, exceptional customer service and value for room rate. I will definitely return here the next time I visit New Orleans! May 11, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Outstanding staff We were there to attend Jazzfest. We had three rooms and front desk staff was very helpful and more than patient as we played musical rooms. Bellman and valet parkers were very helpful in a situation complicated by construction in the area. The weather was bad so we were in the hotel more than we expected. This was challenging with a very active 18-month-old boy running the hall to expend energy. The 8th floor housekeeping staff was wonderful. He fell in love with them, especially Jasmine. We were worried that he was annoying them, but we were wrong. On the third day a gift basket was left in our room with fruit and t-shirts for him. We have never had such a wonderful experience or such warmth and generosity expressed by housekeepers. Kudos to all. Can't wait to stay there again. May 10, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Location - Helpful Staff We really enjoyed our experience at the Crowne Plaza. Very convenient location and the staff was very helpful. Also was very quiet considering the location. We slept very well. I would stay there again. May 10, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great place to stay! Beautiful place with comfortable beds and helpful employees. May 10, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great service at ta great location Best location in NOLA. I've stayed here numerous times and will stay again. The rooms / public areas could use a refresh though as the furniture is older. May 10, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by conference This is a lovely property, but every day we stayed, there were either dirty trays of room service next to rooms or a whole table of room service. I went to the front desk several time regarding this and was told it would be taken care of, it took a long time, one time it was 24 hrs. For such a lovely property is not a great site to return to your room and see dirty dishes in the hallway. Otherwise our stay was nice, very convenient to Convention center, The maid service was excellent. I would recommend this property. May 9, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great time The Hotel and staff did everything that I would expect from a top-level hotel. Very friendly staff. I would stay here again. May 9, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointed On the whole the experience was well worth the cost. However, a small issue, which could have been reconciled, has made a 5-star rating a 1-star rating. Due to this, I would caution a stay because if a problem arises, getting a resolution will not happen. The rental van that I drove to New Orleans was parked with valet. Prior to bringing the van there were no noticeable issues on it. After returning the van following the trip, there were two small holes on the drivers side of the van, which costs $2400 to fix. The reality is there is no proof to whether it was myself or the valet was responsible. All I know is when I dropped it off to the valet it was not there. And when I dropped it off to the rental agency, two holes, which are not usual, appeared. Since both myself and the valet could have been responsible, my solution was to divide the cost in half. While not ideal for either of us, at least it was a compromise. After calling multiple times, being transferred to various people, and never getting the ability to reconcile the situation this past month, I have realized that the service is not really customer driven and would rather ignore than deal with an issue. So, lesson learned if no problem arises, good stay. If anything goes wrong from a financial concern, to a problematic room, to a function, from my experience, I cannot could not guarantee that a workable solution would be reached. May 7, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Second Stay We've stayed at the Astor CP twice now. about 2 years apart. The staff are fantastic and always willing to help. In fact, the front desk is manned by some of the best in the business. The facility is showing her age. The elevators are slower than any place we ave ever stayed, which is no big deal since it is New Orleans. The Workout room and pool are both small but very functional - free weights are a big plus. We were there for a conference so the prices were about double the online "best" rate. But that is supply and demand. Our room was large and well appointed. The hardware was well maintained and service to the room done quickly. The atrium (lobby) is well done and memorable but leads to the only real downside of the Astor. Dickie Brennan’s Bourbon House & Seafood Bar and lounge are both disappointing. We finally left the restaurant after about a 15 minute wait at the table. While it sounds picky - the morning rush had not occurred and we were on of only 5-6 tables seated. The lounge bar is staffed by the unenthusiastic and the drinks were just not well made for an establishment of this caliber. Overall, good stay, comfortable with professional staff and a nice atmosphere. But leave the building for food and drinks - which you'll likely do anyway. May 6, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very impressed We stayed for 3 nights during a very busy weekend, and I was very impressed with the friendly demeanor of every staff member we came in contact with, from the front desk, to the concierege, to the cleaning staff, to the room service staff. The hotel location is excellent, and the work out facilities are great too. I will stay here again. May 4, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good Excellent staff, great location. Would have been excellent overall if my AC hadn't died durning the night. May 3, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Take Cold Showers One of the most important things I learned at my stay at the Astor Crown Plaza was that I needed to take colder showers. Hot steamy showers, it turns out, will set off your smoke detector. And the very nice gentlemen who came to help us were actually pleased to learn that the steam caused the problem, because that way they didn't need to change the smoke detector. Their advice? "Take colder showers." Apart from that situation, this room was minimally acceptable, but certainly not great. The room was small and awkwardly laid out. There were no light switches within reach of the bed, which we all know is quite inconvenient when you're going to sleep. The noise from Bourbon Street wasn't as bad as it could have been, which we appreciated, but you'll certainly know where you are. Thumping bass could still be heard and felt. The lobby of the hotel looks like it was once quite nice, but has since been taken over by tchotchke vendors. The staff was generally helpful, however, and the restaurant looked nice. I didn't eat there, this time, but I might in the future. May 3, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very nice hotel but my room location was poor This is an extremely nice hotel, in convenient location and hotel room was attractively furnished. My experience was less than anticpated, however, as the only view from my room was a large very noisy piece of equipment--possibly the HVAC unit of the hotel. The hotel anticipated the noise problem, providing earplugs and other nice lavender scented products. The hotel was sold out (i was attending meetings in the hotel and it was during Jazzfest) so I did not request room change. I was in room 340 and would definitely recommend requesting another area of the this otherwise very lovely hotel. May 2, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable bed and good service I was staying at the hotel for a confernce. The hotel was very clean and well appointed. We were provided lunch and dinner which was catered by the hotel and it was excellent. May 2, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Insect & Noise The room seemed ok even though it was an weird layout. On my first evening we discovered a roach crawling on the bathroom floor. My friend was able to catch it with a plastic bag and I brought it to the front desk to complain. I asked for a room change, which was granted, but I could not beleive I did not get any apologies from the Manager, or a discounted rate. In addition, specify that you do not want a room on Bourbon street as the windows are very poorly insulated making it almost impossible to spleep as there is noise all night until early morning hours. April 29, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Convenient to nearly everything. We really enjoyed our four night stay. Main entrance on Canal and side on Bourbon. We've always loved the Dickie Brennen's restaurant and were pleasantly surprised that the hotel and restaurant were connected. We walked everywhere and took the trolley to see Tulane U and St. Charles street. The WWII museum and aquarium are must sees and are both easy walks from this fine hotel. April 28, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Service We reserved 2 rooms. One of them had a problem. The a/c didn't seem to work and the bathroom light did not work. We requested another room and there was no hassle at all. April 27, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Location Room was good, but very noisy elevators could be heard all night and we were not very close to them. Great location for everything. As a platinum card holder I was not given free wi fi which surprised me, but only there one night and could live without. April 27, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great service When we arrived our in room safe wasn't working and after notifying the front desk a maintenance person was there to correct the problem within 15 minutes. Service in the 4th floor lounge was excellent also. I was disappointed during check in because there was a priority members area that wasn't being used. Overall it was an excellent stay. I will be back. April 25, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by GREAT LOCATION AND SERVICE This location is excellent for getting around the French Quarter and beyond. One side of the hotel faces Bourbon St. the other faces Canal St., Safe walking to Bourbon attractions and Trollys right in front of the hotel. Very clean and great service. Enjoyed entire stay. Executive level has breakfast and serves drinks and appetizers in the evening. April 24, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Right in the Heart of Town When I booked at Crowne Plaza I didn't realize that it was right on the corner of Bourbon & Canal, which made for a perfect location. In fact, I could see Bourbon Street from my room. Overall, the hotel was fine - nothing to complain about really, and nothing exemplary. I do have to pieces of feedback for the hotel. First, when I got to my room the door was ajar. I found this odd and I knocked to make sure that no one was in the room - luckily it was empty, although I did check the bathtub (lol). Second, I like firm mattresses, but my bed was a 10 in firmness out of a maximum of 8. Please get some softer mattresses. Overall, the room was a good value, priced below a few area hotels. I would recommend it! April 24, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very Comfortable beds. This hotel is a great stay at the price. Very comfortable beds, nice bar, good service. I would definitely stay here again! April 24, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great location. Courteous and friendly staff. Spent three nights here and thoroughly enjoyed it! The hotel is clean and attractive. Rooms are not huge, but more than enough space and comfortable. The only complaint here would be that the air conditioning system seems to be on some type of override. The unit cooled just fine, but at night when we set the thermostat to 69 degrees, we woke up warm and the room temp was 72. But this is not a deal breaker. The location is really good. At the corner of Bourbon and Canal it's right at the entrance to the French Quarter and close to the Warehouse District. A streetcar stop out front make it easy to head up or down Canal or out St Charles. Everything is within easy walking distance. . . French Market, Casino, Riverwalk, even the WWII Museum is close enough to walk, but we used the streetcar. As mentioned in other reviews, it did take quite a while to get our car out of valet parking. We did not get the car out until checkout and they were quite busy. About 45 minute wait and they would not accept a call for the car from the room. But again, this was not enough to keep us from coming back. April 23, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Wonderful, can't wait to return What a wonderful experience and location. I wish I could remember the name of the precious lady that ran the breakfast on the 14th floor. She was a true gem that would make this hotel a must for me again. I even went by to tell her goodbye before we left which is not m typical style. This precious lady made me feel like I was at my grandmother's instead of a hotel. The valet, bellman, and front desk staff went above and beyond the typical hotel experience, the fire alarm did go off three times our first night but the staff was almost immediate in informing us that the alarm was a false alarm. I look forward to seeing this location again soon. April 22, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good experience, comfortable room, no major issues Everything was pretty as expected. Room was clean and comfortable but housekeeping was SLOW - it was during a festival weekend so the hotel was jam packed but still ... we were gone from 9-3 and our room was not cleaned. Ugh. Also the bar closes at 10 - what is up with that?!?!?!?!? Otherwise the staff was helpful and friendly and the hotel itself was nice. Also a great location - right in the French Quarter - walking distance to everything. April 22, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great bed and excellent location Bed was excellent and location was awesome. We were in French quarter for 7 days and stayed at 3 different hotels and this was by far the best April 19, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Once again, a wonderful stay. We have stayed at this hotel numerous times. I have never had anything less than an excellent experience. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Upon arrival, the staff make you feel welcome and are the same throughout the entire stay. Our room safe was not functioning but after notifying the front desk maintainence was there within twenty minutes and a new one installed within an hour. The desk clerk Iesha was friendly and helpful. The concierge Federic booked our excursion and was very knowledgable and friendly. And of course, the location can't be beat. I would definitely recommend this hotel to everyone and I wouldn't choose to stay anywhere else. April 18, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Terrible service and broken shower We were there during the French quarter festival. We needed a cab to get to the airport but it was difficult due to traffic. The bell staff refused to help. We ended up walking to a nearby hotel who offered to help. Also the shower in my room was broken. I reported it to the front desk but they did not fix it. April 16, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Dirty room I found the room to be spacious and the bed to be comfortable, but the overall room was dirty and in disrepair. It reminded me of a discount hotel. Carpet was dirty and stained. Toilet and tub had hair in them upon arrival, as well as bathroom floor. Staff did not seem to be concerned when I reported that my room was not clean. Tile in shower had a dime-sized hole in it and tub drain was rusted. When I sat in the arm chair, I could see the sides of the seat cushion were full of dirt, dust, and lint. For the cost of the room, I expected a bit more detail focus on overall appeal and cleanliness. April 16, 2013
