Poorly maintained facility

My husband and I stayed here because it was the preferred hotel for a conference I attended for work. The hotel was very poorly maintained - cracks and chipped paint on the ceiling in the hallways and in our room, dust covering the pull out magnifying mirror in our bathroom, a dirty room service glass that sat on the floor in the hall outside another guest room for the entire three days we were there (even after my husband specifically pointed it out to a maid), and a pile of debris (dirt, dust balls, feathers) that laid in the hallway near the elevators for the length of our stay. We even saw a hotel employee vacuuming in the same hallway where this pile of debris sat, and somehow he did not manage to vacuum up that pile - I don't know how that is even possible.

In addition to the general condition of the hotel, the noise level in our room was terrible. Even on the fifth floor, we could hear noise from the street below all night long - cab drivers honking, bums arguing, drunk people causing a general ruckus. It also did not help that our thermostat seemed to turn itself off randomly, so our room temperature was very uneven and hard to control. Overall, just a terrible experience. We will not be staying here again.

Really upset by room & manager

It was pretty unfortunate that when I went to sleep I noticed a stain on the blanket. It looked like dry blood, but I did't think anything of it. I considered it a stain and threw the blanket on the floor. When I laid down in the bed, my hand went through the bed sheet. The sheet literally had a sliced cut going through about 8-9in long. Surely enough, I ignored that as well. In the morning when I decided to take a shower, that put it OVER THE TOP. I was DISGUSTED. The shower curtain on the inside was a DIRTY ORANGE color. Looked like no one has changed it on OVER A YEAR. I'm sorry but I work for Loews and unfortunately I couldn't get a room at the New Orleans location. When the manager was sent to my room to look over everything, he apologized to me once took the stained blanket and said that housekeeping will change it all. In my opinion, I think the manager did a horrible job apologizing. He literally said 4 things; Hello my name is ... What's the problem. Sorry. and I'll get that change. Didn't make me feel comfortable at all and I did not pay to stay here and get mediocore treatment. I didn't even complain about the first 2 things. I don't know how Crowne Plaza runs but what I do know is that if Crowne Plaza was a successful stay here, I would have booked it for Dubai when I go in 2 months. Unfortunately, I do not think I will be staying at Crowne Plaza ever again.

Poor guest experience

I would not stay here again. When my friends and I checked into the hotel on the Friday before Mardi Gras, we were super excited, but our experience soon soured. The first day of our stay was great when we watched several parades on the Canal St. balcony. The problems started Saturday night. Upon check in, the front desk told us the Bourbon St. balcony would be open every night until midnight. We went up to the balcony at 8pm on Saturday night and found it closed due to a private party. There are two different balconies on that street with different entry points and neither was open. We found this very disappointing since we had specifically booked at the Crown Plaza for the location and balconies, and the front desk had told us they would be open every night. On the last night of our stay, Mardi Gras, we were again disappointed by lack of communication between the hotel management and the guests. We had intended to watch the sweep of Bourbon St. by the Louisiana State Police from our own Bourbon St. balcony. We had confirmed with a hotel employee earlier in the evening that we would be able to watch it but were kicked off around 1045pm. When all the guests were removed from the balcony, we were told it would be opened back up before midnight. We went back around 1115 to see if we could get back out there but everything was locked and closed down. We went down to speak to the front desk and they had no idea what was going on and couldn't offer us any information about why it was closed and when/if it would be reopened. We asked to speak to the manager and got no further information. Other guests we spoke to had stayed at the hotel before and said the balcony was open every other year. It was frustrating that the hotel people didn't know what was going on and couldn't offer us and information. My last complaint has to do with parking. We realized going in that parking could be difficult due to the timing of our trip. Before we drove over we called the hotel to get the parking details and they told us parking would be free. Upon check out there was a $212 fee for parking. All in all, we had a disappointing stay and wouldn't go back to this hotel.

It appears the lines of communication were not working amongst our staff regarding the opening and closing of the balconies during parades. The closure of the balcony was for safety reasons and for the best interest of our guests. I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I am also unsure as to why the associate informed you parking is free, we do not have a parking lot of our own and therefore only offer valet through a third party company which is why you were charged. Great Location for Mardi Gras

Booked this hotel for Mardi Gras 2015. The staff was friendly. The bed was so comfortable. Great mattress, sheets and towels. Great location. Was able to access balcony to view the parade. Very close to all activities. Would definitely recommend.
