Typical hotel stay. I usually have difficulty sleeping the first night and sleep well during the remainder of my visit. This time, I had difficulty sleeping each night. I don't know the reason.

Great Location

I was in town for Mardi Gras and this hotel is perfectly located. The parking arrangements are horrible and they don't have enough even for their hotel guests. I was charged $38 dollars a night for valet parking and I had to park the car myself and walk to pick it up. The room was in fairly good shape, but the sink in the bathroom was cracked. The rooms need a remodel for sure.

Mixed experience

This hotel is located at Canal and Bourbon and has great access to the French Quarter. The hotel lobby is beautiful and the staff were generally friendly. The room itself was fine, if a bit outdated and worn. The bathroom, though, stunk like cigarette smoke. Changing out the shower curtain helped a bit, but not much. I also had to wait until 5:30 one evening to have my room cleaned. I left at 7:30 in the morning and returned around 3:30 to find it undone. I brought it to the attention of the front desk and yet it still took two hours to clean it. Given that I was staying by myself and that really only the bed needed to be made and the bathroom touched up, not sure why it took so long.

Poorly maintained facility

My husband and I stayed here because it was the preferred hotel for a conference I attended for work. The hotel was very poorly maintained - cracks and chipped paint on the ceiling in the hallways and in our room, dust covering the pull out magnifying mirror in our bathroom, a dirty room service glass that sat on the floor in the hall outside another guest room for the entire three days we were there (even after my husband specifically pointed it out to a maid), and a pile of debris (dirt, dust balls, feathers) that laid in the hallway near the elevators for the length of our stay. We even saw a hotel employee vacuuming in the same hallway where this pile of debris sat, and somehow he did not manage to vacuum up that pile - I don't know how that is even possible.

In addition to the general condition of the hotel, the noise level in our room was terrible. Even on the fifth floor, we could hear noise from the street below all night long - cab drivers honking, bums arguing, drunk people causing a general ruckus. It also did not help that our thermostat seemed to turn itself off randomly, so our room temperature was very uneven and hard to control. Overall, just a terrible experience. We will not be staying here again.
