Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by WELL WORTH IT I stayed here on the first full weekend in Dec 2012 and it was well worth it. The place was very nice, people were great, excellent view, rooms were great. We stayed in a room by the elevators and you couldn't here them open or close or operating up and down like you do in other hotels. The food was very good and if you didn't want food from the hotel then there was plenty of places nearby, within 1, 2 or 3 blocks. Depending on what you were looking for. Now, If you are an NCIS fan you can visit a bakery about a block away that is run by Pauley Perrette (Abby Scuto on NCIS). The food there was awesome. All of the other sites to see were easy to access due to the hotel being centrally located to them. Again, WELL WORTH IT. December 16, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Quality of room I have stayed at Crowne Plaza before and I thought the quality of room has become somewhat inferior. Wallpaper was peeling off walls in bathroom and room seemed lesser quality. The staff was excellent and very helpful. December 16, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Location reduced club amenities. We stayed at the Crown Plaza on Times Square about 7 years ago. We opted for the club rooms and were treated with a wonderful club lounge with a fantastic view on the 46th floor. The lounge included great snacks and cocktails and a great breakfast. It was fantastic! well worth the extra cost of a club room. Our most recent experience at the Crown Plaza Times Square Included the extra cost of a club room, but the perks were a greatly reduced club level experience. The club lounge is on the 5th floor (no view) . Cocktails are not gratis. The snacks were cheeze and crackers The breakfast included pastries and hard boiled eggs with toast and oatmeal. We recently returned from a trip to China, this included a Crown Plaza hotel visit in Bejing, with a fantastic club lounge, evening cocktails, great evening snacks, fantastic cooked breakfast. The Times Square Crown Plaza set the example for service. Why is it not important to be the best anymore? December 15, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Highly Recommended The location and the recent renovation make this one of the best hotels in NYC. My room, 4602, is a 46th floor corner room with two windows and highly recommended. If you want to book it, it's called a KIng Bed Concierge. The bathroom was well designed and also fully renovated but modest in the respect that it did not have a bathtub. But, the shower was spacious and overall the room was much larger than a typical NYC room. December 15, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Location, Location This was my first time to NY and this location can't be beaten. The staff where very helpful with any question or request we had. The only issue was the room themometor kept going up. We where toasty to say the least. We had a wonderful, warm time. Enjoy. December 14, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Room and Ease of Check in very easy and timely check in The room is comfortable and cean December 12, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Frequent guest, but they don't know that :-) THE best beds of all hotels-- and I travel constantly. December 12, 2012
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by security I left a book behind, room 3910. Discussed with security via phone call, they said that they would give me a call back after they researched it. I did not hear back. I left a message in a subsequent call. I still have not heard back. Not a big deal, but certainly says something about the lack of customer service December 12, 2012
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Bad attitude and disinterest I booked a twin double bed room using my Priority Club points, when I checked in, I was asked if I really needed 2 double beds and I replied that I didn't but it was the only option, I asked if there was an option to upgrade but actually ended up getting downgraded to a small standard room with a view of the workers on the building out the back. The barman / waiter in the bar was abrupt to the point of being rude, nothing like my experience in the same hotel 2 years ago, maybe he was having a few bad days but I don't think it was my fault. The night before checking out, I asked if as a Platinum Member, I could have a late check-out, the man on the desk was very abrupt and said that the hotel was full and I had to be out by 12.00 the next day. The following morning, I asked a lady on the Priority check in desk the same question and she said that it would be absolutely fine and I could check out at 1400. Are staff told to treat people using points to stay as second class citizens? Location is excellent. December 12, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent choice The Crowne Plaza Hotel is in a great location in the theater district and has nice sized rooms that are well appointed. It's a wonderful choice for NYC visits. December 10, 2012
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Great location BUT The hotel is conveniently located to many popular sites. Bedding was comfortable and room was spacious. The biggest concern that we had was that we were unable to change the temperature in the room even though there was a thermostat. It was very hot in the room during the night. Our complaint to the desk made no improvement. This made an otherwise pleasant hotel experience into a mediocre one. I think that we would search for another hotel for our next visit. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Love the location and hotel but the heating/cooling system was miserable Love the hotel and location. Checked in Nov 29th for 3 nights. Room was miserably hot day and night. Tried to cut heat off. Even opened the window and had to crack the door to get a draft. Nothing helped. The last night there was sleepless. Hotel staff indicated due to law in NY hotels could not use cooling if outside temperature was 52 degrees or below. Offered to move us to a room a few floors below but no guarantee it would be any cooler. December 10, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Helpful Staff and Great Loacation I have stayed in this hotel for 8 nights. I have booked the club room and I was a bit disappointed with the lighting of the room and furniture. Moreover, I did not feel like a club member (not even a complemetary bottle of water) I went to the lounge for couple of times during the evening and it was a major disappointment The breakfast, though modest, but it was good. I would stay here again for the location and their helpful staff . December 10, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great location! Our family has stayed at the Crowne Plaza for two years at the beginning of December. The service is usually good and the location can not be beat! The bar is very welcoming and the view of Manhattan is nice. We spend a little more than we really should to stay there, but we do feel that it is worth it mostly. The rooms aren't huge and the shower was fine for us, but our friends had trouble with water pressure. The restaurant for breakfast was not great with service. But the hotel's LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION was what we are pleased about each year! December 9, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fantastic location, wonderful hotel Great stay in a lovely hotel. The location could not be beat in the heart of Times Squares, but we didn't hear any noise in our room. We enjoyed our stay in the Big Apple very much, in part to a great hotel. December 8, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great atmosphere, solid performer I've stayed at this Crowne several times and I've never been disappointed. Great location, nice rooms and overall ambience. And having access to the NY Sports health club and its amazingly well equipped services is a huge bonus. Sure, the hotel comes with the requisite Times Square pricing tier. But relative to the others in that locale/price range it's always a sold choice. December 8, 2012
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by average stay for a conference I had to be in the Times Square area for a conference and as Royal Ambassador an IHG property is the natural choice. The room rate was almost $200 cheaper than the conference hotel nearby. I arrived at 11PM and tried to negotiate a late checkout during my check-in. Essentially everything that I expect as a supposedly good customer from a hotel went wrong from there. For late-checkout I had to re-check twice rather than having them make a note and contact me. Being there for work I have better things to do. No room upgrade was available which left me in a standard room (not even with a view) showing its age. Not a single bottle of water, neither complimentary nor for money, was in the room. It's a $1 item that makes a big difference. Compared to other IHG properties the treatment as status customer was very bad. Breakfast was served in something which could be called a club lounge and had very limited service. I brought the issues up to the hotel during my stay and rather than having them taken care of (like a free bottle of water in the room) I was told to check again for late check-out the next day. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by excellent location - good service - Nice accomidations My fouth time at this hotel - I highly recomend it and will choose it for every trip to New York - Staff are Pleasant and service is great. December 5, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Awesome staff & comfortable rooms We were with a group tour. The staff was extremely efficient & helpful with every request. After several busy days our room was welcoming & calming. With an awesome view, we were able to relax an enjoy the scene outside our window. The bed was very comfortable. The room was always clean & refreshed when we returned. Thank you for a great experience. December 5, 2012
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by First visit and would recommend Beds were lovely and everything very clean..big big room and bathroom. So convenient for all main attractions will certainly return. December 4, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by The little things My wife and I finally got to plan a second honeymoon in NYC for our 25th wedding anniversary. Who would have ever thought that Hurricane Sandy would deal such a devestating blow to the area in Mid-November. After all this calamity the hotel staff was able to answer our communications and confirm that they were indeed open for business. When we arrived the first night we immediately went out to get a feel for the big apple. When we came back one of the staff had delivered us a bottle of champagne and a plate of fruit with an accompanying card wishing us congratulations. I couldn't have asked for any better service and my little mention was picked up by a staff member. Thats why I keep coming back to hotels. December 4, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Almost perfect... Our experience and stay was excellent except for 1 minor, but slightly annoying detail, the bathroom door. First, the good stuff... Customer service was excellent and check-in a breeze. Plus, the champagne at the bar while we waited just a few moments for the room to be readied was delicious. Location was fantastic for our Christmas celebration. The room had a great view, and was overall very quiet. The housekeeping staff did an excellent job providing for our needs as well. The downside... the bathroom door in this room needs some redesign! For the money we spent, we should not have had to battle and dodge this door opening while primping in front of the sink. I can't enumerate the number of times the door hit me on my backside. When it did stay shut, you had to be careful opening it (after exiting either the shower or the toilet), else you would hit anyone near the sink or closet. December 4, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great location This hotel is right in the middle of it all. The rooms were great and clean. We'll be back. December 4, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Perfection I planned a 30th birthday celebration for our goddaughter - she wanted to come to NYC. The convenient time was after Thanksgiving. I needed a place to stay and had no idea how expensive the city would be. Having traveled much earlier in the working career of the family we had some points to utilize and that helped hone us in on a hotel. In the last couple of years we had a great experience at a Crown Plaza in PA so looked to this one in NYC hopefully. The booking process for points and non-points for our stay was simple. We arrived at the hotel and were trying to figure out where to park etc. The very kind doorman came to the curb, greeted us warmly and gave directions to the garage where he met us there as well! As we checked in we shared our story of the 30th birthday celebration and we were upgraded to a Times Square view. From the concierge to the bell hop who brought our luggage to our room, which was neat as can be, we were treated like royalty despite our beer budget. This is a wonderful place and I have already suggested it to others and hopefully will be back ourselves soon. December 4, 2012
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Some Holiday?? My wife and daughter had a weeks holiday in NY so I booked them into your hotel, they travelled 11 hours from Glasgow via Heathrow, and arrived after mid night. First off the first room was dirty - the carpets turned the soles of their feet black, thebathroom was third world. It wasn't the floor or room I booked . The reception staff were unhelpful and rude - this badge the New Yorkers hold with pride? When the duty manager (lamar) attended to them - after I called Priority Club UK - things improved and they were relocated to another room. Lamar was most helpful, a plus, one of very few from your side. It is an overrated Crown Plaza and really sits in the Holiday Inn cat. The plus was the food quality and quantity They both loved their week in NY but would definately not stay at your place again. December 3, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice Place Great hotel. Nice staff, good food, and really nice rooms. It also has a full scale gym. I would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to stay in Times Square. December 3, 2012
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointing & staff need customer service training Great location for Times Square and room was spacious and comfy, only bad thing was bath needed attention. The staff and service on the other hand were terrible - rude and never a smile. The Priority Club is a waste of time, the separate queue is ignored, or in my case I was shouted over to 'can I help' from the main desk area, so I walked round rather than them and there was only 1 other guest at the desk to 4-5 staff. No welcome as Platinum and only free wifi for loyalty, no room upgrades which I know are subject to availability, but I had booked a deluxe room and requested corner room or view of Times Square which I didn't get either. The hotel is very costly and reading many reviews it's the staff that particularly let the hotel down, so I feel some customer service training is required in order to encourage repeat guests, assuming they want any that is! I've still not received my invoice as the printer wasn't working on check out. December 3, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great location My family spent 3 nights at the Crowne Plaza last week and I would definitely recommend this property. The location can't be beat for access to Broadway shows and it's a good value compared to other hotels in the area. Our room was clean and comfortable and the beds were excellent. The front desk staff were polite and helpful, even calling us to let us know when our room was ready. My only complaint was the constant loud music in the lobby area. We wanted to relax and enjoy a glass of wine but could hardly talk above the music. December 2, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by 5 days in New York Just returned from a 5 night stay at the crowne plaza where everything was just right. Perfect location to visit any part of manhattan where Macy's, Empire State Building, are in one direction and Trump tower, Rockefeller centre, Central Park, 5th Avenue shops including the Ugg shop are a short walk away. Broadway and 42nd Street are on the doorstep where all the latest shows are showing. I stayed in a corner room on the 38th floor which was very good with all the usual accessories supplied. There was a big selection for the breakfast in the morning to suit all tastes. The king size bed was very comfortable and the power shower was very good. Would have preferred real milk to powdered milk for the tea and coffee utility but not a great problem. All in all a perfect choice and so central. December 1, 2012
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Very expensive but no value I stay at the Crowne Plaza Times Square at least once a year but this unfortunately was my last. I booked far in advance to ensure we had a room overlooking Times Square. Knowing it was a busy weekend, I even followed up with a phone call & was ensured that it would be no problem. This was important to me b/c it was the first time I was bringing my children & knew that would add to the ambiance & their excitement. Upon check-in however I was told that I was too late to have a view of Times Square. We used the concierge to book us tickets for a basketball game. We paid her double what all the other people sitting in our section at the game paid for their tickets. I won't mention specifically what we paid for our room for 3 nights, but it's more than a couple pays for a week away at a 4-5 star all-inclusive resort. This did not include Wi-Fi!! They seriously charged us more money to use internet. Very tacky!! Therefore the customer service is fair at best. The location is not as convenient as I previously thought, especially when you compare the cost. December 1, 2012
