Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Another excellent stay in Newcastle I returned to Newcastle for the 4th time in a twelve month period, again staying at the Crowne Plaza. Upon arrival I was greeted and booked into a room, which to my surprise had a large spa bath, bath size being a previous criticism, so this was a bonus and a good way to relax. I found in the morning I was greeted by the staff and recognised, they even remembered my coffee order. I utilised the gym on this visit and found it quite good, a means of de-stressing at the end of a day but being open at 5:30 in a morning is useful. My room was, as usual, clean and comfortable, one of the few criticisms is that the bath/shower was quite dim with the curtain puled across. Not sure if it is an English thing or not but it is nice to arrive in a room and have a drink but also a biscuit, which in UK are normally supplied along with the tea and coffee. I have no issues with cleanliness in this hotel, it is always spotless throughout. We ate in the dining room on a couple of occasions, the food was of a very god standard as expected, I have always enjoyed any meals I have had but on this visit I found the menu offerings a little uninspiring, what I had was very good it was just that I didn’t find that many items that really took my fancy. At this hotel it is the staff that make it, always friendly and happy to stop and talk, we have a couple of people staying there for an extended period and the staff go out of their way to ensure they make it as pleasant as possible May 20, 2014

At 11:20am, the staff opened the door to see if we were still there while we happened to stepped out for breakfast and just came back in time. I was told to call the front desk about the checkout time. A somewhat strange reqest! It sounds like they were trying to push us out, but it was only 11:20am - not a very good feeling! May 17, 2014

The staff were friendly, lovely and very helpful. The bed was incredibly comfortable and was extremely hard to leave in the morning. The buffet breakfast was delicious - especially the hash browns! Crowne Plaza completely changed my view for Newcastle, it's harbour front location and its room deserve good recognition. The restaurant was also a highlight of my stay, breakfast and dinner were very impressive. I would certainly come back again and stay longer next time! May 14, 2014

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Nice view, shame about the cleanliness. Originally from Newcastle I had heard great things about The Crowne Plaza so decided to stay there on a visit home recently. It was a shame to have spent so much money on what is classed as one of the better hotels in Newcastle. The room we stayed in had rotted skirting boards, mould on the roof and a glass shelf with 1cm thick dust and bugs covering, oh and a smashed wine glass on the same shelf. Rather disappointed and will not be recommending to anyone. At least we had a nice view of the harbour! May 12, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Short but Sweet A late notice trip to Newcastle but fortunately there was room at the Crowne Plaza. My first stay in this particular hotel but hopefully not my last. The staff were excellent, courteous and professional and the warm welcome late in the evening was just what a weary traveller needed. The room was first class; clean and comfortable. I checked out 8 hours later refreshed and ready for a busy day. All in all: Most pleasant. May 11, 2014

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by service in resturant appaling we recently stayed at the crowne Plaza Newcastle which we do a couple of times a year.On this occasion we held the renewing of my parents wedding vows as they have been married for 50 years.So wanting to make it something special for them we booked dinner in the restaurant for all our family (20 people).On booking this we were told we would have to have a shortened menu due to the amount .This was fine (although my husband and i had been married there and had 30 guests which all ordered whatever they wanted off the menu and that went off without a hitch ) Some thing as changed or the level of service has gone down hill as we had to wait 5 min short of 2 hours for our meal .One of the guest had to leave as they could not wait any longer , ( still had to pay for their meal .As i was the one that had organized this booking i was left very unhappy and embarrassed we were staying at the motel i told reception on check out how unhappy i was and they just gee that's to bad isn't it .It is a lovely motel and would recommend staying there but i would not recommend booking any functions there as they seem not to be able to handle large bookings over 2 or 4 .Such a shame as the food there has always been lovely.I must add that all other staff were wonderful and we were treated well . We have stayed at many Crowne Plaza hotels in the past but have to say that we enjoyed particularly our time at the Newcastle Hotel. We were on the 4th floor with a lovely view overlooking the "working" harbour of Newcastle. Staff were excellent, restaurant most enjoyable and breakfast a treat. We will be returning. May 7, 2014

Your team's level of service, tireless commitment to guest satisfaction and overall attention to detail is at a standard which many other hotels would find difficult to match, let alone surpass. You have a world class package. Make sure your team never stops smiling and acknowledging guests - it gives you a real edge. Ordinarily, the strike of the 'Town Hall' clock every hour on the hour would be a very welcome reminder of the village life I once enjoyed. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Terrible customer service and restaurant not good value I booked a queen room and was given a twin room. I called back to reception on arriving in my room and requested a move and was told by the girl on reception that she would talk to someone - she called me back 30 seconds later to say she had spoken to her manager and there were no other rooms available. Clearly she had not spoken to her manager as she had not had time - I assume this charade is the standard practice for managing such requests over the phone. I wasn't fooled. I also dined in the restaurant with a colleague. We had the most expensive steak on the menu (around $40) and it and the rest of the meal was terrible - certainly not worth $40. In summary - this hotel and its restaurant are not good enough for a Crowne Plaza and the prices you charge for accommodation and food. I have been Priority Privilege member for the last 2 years but will not be renewing. May 4, 2014

Not only did we use the Restaurant etc., we also availed ourselves of the local dining within the Honeysuckle Precinct. There were also great walks along the harbour to be enjoyed. The Staff were warm and Friendly, acknowledging that we had stayed there before and welcomed us back again It was a great break from the hustle and bustle of Life. April 29, 2014

Our baggage was collected from our car and was delivered to our room minutes after we arrived their. I cant fault one thing about our stay at Crowne. Breakfast, which was delivered was great. The bathroom, spa, and bed were excellent. And the view of Newcastle harbor from our windows was quality. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable Crown Plaza is the only hotel I stay at when travelling to Newcastle. I am always happy with the service and comfort of the hotel. This time I was a little disappointed with the selection of food available for room service. After attending a function where I was not able to have dinner, I thought it wouldn't matter as I could grab something to eat back in my room. When I returned, I looked at the room service menu and noted that it had been significantly reduced since my last stay. Not a major issue. As I had returned to the hotel after 11pm, I noticed that I was to choose a meal from the menu that had a symbol on it indicating that I could have the meal after 11:00. To my disappointment, I could only select from 3 options. A margherita pizza, garlic bread or ham and cheese toasted sandwich...... at that time of night all I felt like was something light.... hopefully when I stay next time, there will be a little more variety. After a late night, I went to sleep thinking, no problem.... at least I get to sleep in....... Apparently I couldn't do that either! At 6am I was woken by the gym across the road and the instructor's routine (at least that's what it sounded like)..... nearly gave me a heart attack! I woke up thinking I had my personal trainer yelling in my ears.... I realised that it wasn't her!! ..... So after an empty stomach and little sleep I would have to say that it wasn't the best stay I have ever had there, but I will stay there again, in hope that it will be like I have experienced in the past.
