It was first stay on behalf of my company to this hotel and was looking forward to it.
I was quite disappointed and would seriously recommend to our booking company to find somewhere else to stay in Newcastle.
Parking. Valet only - at $28.00 a pop. That's a bit rich. I have no problem parking myself and walking with my luggage from a carpark. Even if they had a 'deal' with a nearby multi-story it would at least give a lower cost option.
Food. I was looking forward to a nice fish meal given the style of the restaurant and the menu selection. It was a complete disaster... I ordered the day's special a NZ cod. It looked good on the plate, but was just not cooked through. I asked for the wait-person and she was very embarrassed as she could see it wasn't cooked. Off it went and a fresh one came out - with the same result. If anything it was more raw than the first. This time the wait-person was mortified. On this occasion I asked for salmon - and at least this was very nearly cooked all the way through after asking for it to be 'well done'. I left the small bit that was not properly cooked - and pointed this out to the wait-person. I think at that stage she just wanted this to be over.
There was a slight reduction on the bill - but for a hotel of this class it should never have happened.
It would appear that the chunk of fish was frozen and whilst cooked on the outside wasn't cooked through - a basic flaw when cooking fish.
Should I stay there again I'll eat outside of the hotel.

During my last visit the staff was very helpful in assisting me in providing a cable for laptop, which they allowed me use all week during my stay.
The service from the staff was very good and the room was also very comfortable.
I would recommend the Crown Plaza Newcastle to everyone as it is a good place to stay.

Our stay was a real treat. Apart from the very comfortable room, the fantastic harbour view, the high-class food and excellent location the young staff were the friendliest and most obliging I have ever encountered in all my hotel stays. Thank you for making our time at The Crowne Plaza so, so enjoyable.

When doing business in Newcastle, I love to stay at the Crowne Plaza. Situated on the water I very much enjoy a nice walk following the business day and appreciate the in-room dining options. The off-site gym is absolutely fantastic when I have the extra energy.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Jessejan70 Where is the power point ?
Just a small thing, and it's not really a criticism, after my husband was already in bed (fairly exhausted as we had attended a wedding reception), I decided to turn on the bedside lamp. As it didn't go on I got down on hands and knees to find the power point, supposedly somewhere under the bed but could only find a conglomeration of cords. Too tired to pull the bed away from the wall, I gave up and got the emergency torch out of the wardrobe to use for any trips to the bathroom. Anyway, it gave us a good laugh and the overall experience was excellent. We have told friends and relations they will have to go there some time.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Gannet6 Very pleasant Hotel
.I stayed at this hotel in May so the weather was a little inclement to say the least.
Upon arrival, after 27 hours of travel, the staff were very helpful and gave me a harbour view room. the room was very comfortable excapt the batch was too small for someone over 6 feet tall and a soak in a bath after that journey would have been great, the shower also lacked a little in power.
Bottled water in abundance, and a well stoked fridge. Excellent view of sunset/rise out of window as well as massive ships that block out the light for a few minutes, a surprise at first but no problem.
Staff are very attentive and helpful, shame that my UK address was a little too long as it ended up getting quite mangled but that was sorted out later.
My main area of disappointment is that having just been to South Korea and London on business, Wi-Fi was available free of charge in both hotels and in Korea just about anywhere, her it was at a premium cost that would not be acceptable to have every day as a business charge and therefore hindered my working. There was half an hour free each day but that runs out very quickly.
Food in the restaurant was very pleasant, breakfast was excellent, every choice you could ask for (well maybe not smoked haddock) with staff always on hand for a coffee and to seat people.
Valet parking was very good, the guys even buffed a rubber mark off the car.
I would have liked to use the gym facilities at least a couple of times but never had the opportunity, next time.
I would happily stay there again, just hope the internet policy changes for my next visit

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Old55 Great Views of a Working Harbour
We are regulars at the Crowne Plaza at Newcastle and really enjoy the northerly views of the harbour. While the corridors are a long trek from the lift well, the rooms that await you are worth it. A separate small sink, two televisions and living room that can be closed off from the bedroom are ideal if you have a third person staying overnight. The breakfasts are great and there is a lot of variety for the health conscious traveller.. The only place to stay in Newcastle, close to the city centre.

The service at this hotel is amazing! The welcome on reception was warm and wonderful. Check in was a breeze and all my questions were answered promptly and made me feel like a valued guest. The valet parking made life easy travelling with a baby. The Staff were awesome at recommending local attractions and dining options. We travelled to Newcastle for work but made it a weekend away and I'm so glad we did. The rooms are new and clean with great views of the port, wonderful seeing boats go past, my son loved it!
The buffet breakfast was delicious, hot and fresh, with lots of options and variety. Couldn't fault our stay, highly recommend staying here and we will be back.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Emily1306 Enjoyable and comfortable stay.
Sadly only stayed for one night, was short but sweet. Upon arrival was welcomed by a lovely receptionist - very friendly and knowledgeable. Paid a little bit extra to be upgraded to the King Spa Harbourside sweet which was worth the extra money.
Thought the bathroom could've been cleaned a little better. There was dust in the spa bath which we had to clean before using it.
Recommend the remote control for both TVs be replaced - found it very annoying to use as you had to press down the buttons quite hard in order to change the channel, volume etc. For the money you pay to stay in the suite, also thought a better TV should be included - the quality of picture was very poor on both TVs.
Other than the cleanliness of the bathroom and TV issues, it was a most enjoyable stay. We had a spectacular view over the river from our room - with one of the most gorgeous sunsets I've ever seen!

I love the hotel - this rooms are extremely well fitted out - but for me the beds are a little hard and the pillows are too soft - nothing beats sleeping in your own bed.
The food was excellent and staff were amazing, also will to help out.
The views out of the windows facing the harbor were just fantastic.

We have stayed many times at the Hotel but i am afraid its gone downhill we were there for our 23rd anniversary we had dinner in the restaurant the garlic bread was cold when the waitress was told she said it was the apprentices fault I don't think thats acceptable but the rest of our meal was great what we expect from Crown a little disappointed that the hotel didn't acknowledge our special day as they were giving welcoming bottles of wine to other customers wish you could provide the same service and staff as you had a few years ago our last two stays disappointing doubt if we will be back

The Crowne Plaza Newcastle is excellent. The room, the food, the location are all wonderful, only surpassed by the staff. They are welcoming friendly and happy to help, no matter what time of day or night. I did not have one bad experience with any staff member, they all seem genuinely happy to make your stay as comfortable as possible.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Luke10 Quiet, homely and friendly service
Reception staff provided me with a friendly greeting, and before the lift bell sounded I found myself at my room door. As I swiped the key card to unlock my room I noticed two of my colleagues were frantically swiping in vain. With a sense of achievement I parked my bag and offered to return the faulty cards, which staff promptly reprogrammed and as quick as a flash the doors were opened.
A lovely receptionist recommended an evening walk along the foreshore followed by a meal in your well appointed restaurant. The fairy light view across the harbor was sadly, a missed opportunity to share the romantic ambience. Next time?
All alone, I was pleasantly surprised that my first floor room above a busy street was in fact quiet. Either luck or a sound investment in good sound insulation resulted in me going into a sound sleep.
Refreshed after a hearty breakfast, delivered on time, gave a good start to a very busy day. I'll be back!

From the moment we walked in the staff were extremely helpful, friendly and willing to go that extra mile. We stay in a lot of hotels, but I have to say that the staff at Newcastle went above and beyond the service was impeccable. We will definitely stay here again and would recommend this hotel to others. Location is great. The working Harbour is a bonus that the kids loved, watching the ships go past the window. The only downfall I would say would be the cost of the WiFi.
Once again, thank you. We loved it.

We are Sydney siders and decided to head off for a weekend in June. Having never been into Newcastle before, we thought this would be an ideal location, with an abundance of bars and restaurants to keep us entertained and we were not disappointed. The location of the hotel was fantastic situated between a miriad of small restaurants and bars on one side and the more popular Queens Wharf pub a hundred meters on the other side. The hotel is located directly on the wharf and whilst the views were only of the working harbour there was always something outside to watch. We booked a King Suite with Hrbour views and Breakfst included which did not disapoint. Whilst we didn't spend much time in the room, when we did it was enjoyable to be there. The bed was extremely comfortable and the giant spa was well received on a cold winters night.
Overall I cannot fault this hotel. We will definately be back again for a short break from the Sydney rat race.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Margie63 Great staff and room but restaurant needs attention.
Room and staff were great as usual but restaurant was terrible. First morning found mildew on bread at the buffet breakfast. Advised a staff member and the bread was quickly whisked away. The next morning we made sure we checked both sides before toasting. Dinner that night was a comedy of errors. Ordered the crispy skin salmon with pistachio polenta and a side of broccolini. I had recently had some dental work done and wanted my broccolini cooked well which I didn't think was a difficult task. It arrived nearly raw. Sent it back to be cooked some more. The polenta was was not cooked properly and was very grainy and kept getting stuck in my teeth. It was like eating sand! It was the most unpleasant thing I have ever eaten! The lovely waitress could see my frustration and disappointment and brought me out a bowl of creamy mash which was delicious but I still did not have my broccolini. When it finally came back after about 15-20 minutes, it was just as raw as before and now it was cold. How hard is it to steam broccolini well done? By this time my husband had finished his meal so I ate alone and had to leave the broccolini. A complimentary glass of wine was my compensation and I wasn't charged for the raw broccolini. Another thing, we went out one day and just after we returned to our room, a staff member entered our room without knocking! He came to replace a can of coke to our mini bar which had exploded. He did apologise and said he was just in the room and it was empty. I still believe that he should have knocked anyway. We have been to this hotel many times and this is the first time that we have had a problem with the restaurant.

The King Spa suite was wonderful. Top floor, great spa and separate bedroom enabled partner to sleep in while I watched TV and enjoyed view with curtains wide open. The omelettes cooked to order are a must have for breakfast and also recommend placing order for coffee. Great deal for entertainment card holders.
