Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by I Expect Better As a platimun member who has never requested an upgrade before, I figured I would try to cash in my chips, so to speak, and apply for an upgrade during this business trip by calling IHG directly. My wife and child were traveling with me for the first time and I thought it would be nice to have the full suite for them. I also requested a crib. When I arrived at the Crowne Plaza, I was told I received the upgrade. It turned out that the upgrade I got was the Junior Suite I payed for. I told them that's not an upgrade, and they insisted that I had been upgraded to the Junior Suite. Now I know receiving an upgrade isn't a gurantee and since it was overseas I didn't expect it, but I didn't appreciate being told I had been upgraded to the room I was planning to pay for. In fact, I was told that they (Crowne Plaza, Padova) never received the request for upgrade, nor the request for the crib I needed for my child. They had the crib on hand thankfully, but I didn't appreciate hearing those requestes were never received on their end. Some other things that were small, but annoying include the room not being very clean when I arrived. I had to request the items in the refrigerator be removed multiple times so I could use it to store milk and food for my child. The shower head leaked. The water in the shower can be at a normal temperature for about a minute and then scalding hot for about ten seconds and this would repeat every minute every time I used the shower. And to top off the shower experience, one of the shower door hangers was broken making it very difficult to open and close. I spoke to the front desk about the door hanger and they said they would get right on it. I said to take care of it while I went out to dinner. It wasn't fixed when I returned and It took a week of daily requests to get them to fix it. At one point, I started to leave the door crooked so they would see that there is an issue with it, but the maid would just put it back unfixed. I don't care about things like this, but when my wife and child are traveling with me I don't expect her to have to deal with these things. September 2, 2014

In general this hotel is good but for me there were 2-3 things that stopped it from being really great. 1) The reception clerk at the front desk on our arrival was really not a nice person (the rest of the staff was very nice and helpful) 2) WiFi cards that were supplied to us were only for 10 hours - really annoying 3) the Gym was small and really in bad shape - I expected and needed something more. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Outstanding experience at CP Padova I come back again at Crowne Plaza in Padova for a business trip, and I experienced again an outstanding experience. Nice and clean place, nice and clean rooms, nice people (both at the front desk and at the restaurant-Stefano), big free parking, and private (charged extra) for those who need it (great to have the choice between free and pay), easy to reach from the motorway. I definitively RECOMMEND AGAIN this hotel, and of course I will COME BACK. My compliments to the General Manager, please continue this way. July 12, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Service although with a few one-off blips I visit this CP regularly and find it exceptional under many aspects. This time however there have been a few blips: - I have not been recognised as a Gold Elite customer - The welcome drink (part of my booking package) has not been mentioned and I had to ask for it afterwards, which was slightly embarassing - I requested a paid upgrade through the option at time of booking. When I checked in I was not told that there were no rooms, so again I had to go back and ask about the upgrade. The staff told me they knew nothing about my paid upgrade request even though I showed the request confirmation from my inbox. I should have at least bben told at check in that there was no availability. This said, the staff has been otherwise attentive and caring as usual, with a special mention to the AQuattro waiting staff. They are always very nice with us and with our two little children, at dinner and even more at breakfast. Rooms and the hotel overall are welcoming and clean. It may help to have a staff member to man the bar, a few times we had to go and search for someone if we wanted a drink from the bar. June 26, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Nice, But Could Have Been Nicer This particular Crowne is quite hard to find unless you have a very up to date GPS. We punched in the address on our GPS and it did not register. Only after going to the area did we find out that Via Po is actually a road divided in to with a large gap in between. This is the first IHG hotel that I have been to where I was not recognized in any way (not even the token welcome drink) for my Gold Ambassador status. Further, the hotel tried to charge for parking even though the deal that I booked included parking. It was sorted easily enough, but after having such consistently good service from IHG this experience really stood out. The room was quite nice, but the amenities had not been fully stocked and there was a little... *something* in the toilet when we first arrived. These missing little touches make you a bit nervous about the care given to the room, but that was all that we noticed. We ate at the hotel restaurant and can honestly say it is the worst food that we had during our stay in Italy and possibly the worst Italian food we've ever had. The pasta was strangely biter and crumbly. The bread was stale. The hotel could be really good with a bit better attention to detail. Hopefully management can make some corrections and your stay there will be great! If you go, skip the hotel restaurant and go down the road to Antica Trattoria Bertolini - fantastic Italian food. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable and Relaxing Break This hotel is a taxi drive from Padova station, but once there, is a large, friendly hotel, and although catering mainly for the buisness traveller throught the week, is a good place to base yourself for a weekend break, as we did On arrival, we were greeted as if we were old friends (and Priority Card Members) and upgraded to a junior suite, which pleased my wife, as it was her birthday weekend. The room was excellent, the menu's and food in the restaurant were excellent, so what more is there to say? We will visit again, but when? I suspect when my wallet recovers after the shopping in Venice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I March 12, 2014
