Our stay at the Crowne Plaza was a pleasant surprise ! the service was outstanding.. from the front desk staff to the friendly female bartender in the Lounge. The coffee was really good..the food in the lounge was delicious and reasonably priced. I would recommend this hotel to business travelers..or for a family like mine... May 5, 2013

My husband and I simply wanted a place to stay for one evening locally where we could relax and spend some quality time together (away from work, kids, responsibilities)! Our check-in was extremely quick and easy. All employees greeted us with enthusiasm and kindness (even though it was later at night). We walked into our room to find it clean, accommodating and had everything we needed to make it enjoyable. We had booked the Rivers Casino package - which included a King room with jacuzzi tub and fireplace + $15 of slot money at the casino. I had no trouble at all redeeming the slot money at the casino. The whole experience was enjoyable and I will certainly stay there again in the future! May 2, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Crowne! First time at this property. It was located nearby to where I needed to be the following morning. Super easy to find. Check in smooth and easy. Room was perfect. Clean and comfortable. I had a corner room with a ton of windows, which I love. The room was adjacent to the ice machine/pop machine. I didn't hear either one. Parking free. Wi-Fi was complimentary (not sure to due status or not). I highly recommend this property! April 23, 2013

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Chaotic Weekend Was in Pittsburgh attending NCAA Hockey tournament. Hotel was sold out! Arrived Thursday and many people wanted to check in early. Hotel was short on cleaning staff and no rooms were ready early. Despite some disgruntled guests, the front desk staff was extremely patient and did their best to help arriving guests understand the situation. Still unable to check in early. Arrived back at hotel late Thursday night and checked in. When I opened the door to my assigned room, there was already someone sleeping in the room. Went back down to the front desk and the attendant on duty advised there were only single rooms available and myself and my traveling companion could be put in separate rooms for the night. I was then assigned a handicapped room which turned out had two beds in it but the clerk was not aware of that. I called down to the front desk and advised the clerk that there were two beds so he then sent my friend up to the room. This gentleman had no idea what was happening. The following morning there was a message from the front desk advising that they were again moving myself and my friend to another room. I could either come down to the lobby or someone would bring up the keys for the third room that had been assigned. When I left the hotel for the day, I mentioned the previous nights incident about someone already being in the room and the gentleman at the desk said "well unfortunately, that sometimes happens." I was a little taken aback by that statement. If it happens that often, someone needs to be retrained. Upon arriving back at the hotel on Friday night, our keys for our third assigned room did not work. I had the good fortune to speak with Lisa, the hotel manager and explained everything that had happened to us so far during our stay. She was very very apologetic and resolved our problems to our satisfaction. I would say that the overall treatment by the staff was great with the exception of the two gentlemen who were not very knowledgable. The rooms were very comfortable and clean. Parking was great and the location to public transportation was great. Overall, we enjoyed our stay in Pittsburgh and are looking forward to a return trip. I am a Priority Club member but was never acknowledged on that. Special thanks to Laura, Laura and Lisa. They made the trip worth while. Will have to think twice about returning to this hotel. For the price, I think the rooms could have more amenities. Plus, the overall price is high, I mainly stay their for location, and clean. The service is always great, but once again, pricey. So far, I don't feel anymore special as a Priority Club member. March 30, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great place and especially night staff Arrived during one the snows of the winter. The lobby was warm and cozy with the fireplace and the room was very comfortable. The heating unit was quite - not one of those extremely noisy ones which made for a very comfortable nights sleep. Pillows were full & fluffy but would compress down so as not to put a crick in your neck when sleeping on your stomach. The hotel lounge was great place to relax and visit with family. We grew up in the area and I would definitely recommend to anyone. February 10, 2013

I don't understand, why they wouldn't make the beds, more comfy. That was the only problem I had, they were not comfortable. The bed was fine, but sheets were real stiff. February 9, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Room & Facilities Great, Reservation & Billing Logistics Need Improvement Location, Room, Bar, PJ's Grille, and group rate (~30 rooms) were outstanding. Made arrangements for large party months in advance of Son's wedding. Called a few days in advance and found considerable confusion on specifics with regard to number of rooms and room locations. Issues were resolved in time. Requested in advance that I be charged for my children's rooms. Unfortunately, children's credit cards were charged for their rooms. Was able to resolve at checkout for the most part. Found out a week later that my Son's wedding suite was charge to his credit card even though I received the bill at checkout (very embarrassing). Was charged a higher rate (vs. the group rate) for one of my children's rooms. Credit card was credited for the difference two weeks later. I hosted a buffet lunch for wedding guests at PJ's Grille. The staff did a great job arranging this event and the breakfast was excellent. Was told in advance that a discounted rate will apply assuming more than 40 guests attended. A total of 60 guests participated. Unfortunately, I was billed at the normal rate. Credit card was credited for the difference two weeks later. Still have one minor billing issue which is unresolved. Requested an explanation of the charge two weeks ago and have not received a reply. Thanks February 5, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by First time in Pittsburgh We were looking for a hotel outside of the city to save a little money and the value we got here was awesome! It was close to downtown and we got to see a little more of what Pittsburgh had to offer by staying there. The staff when we checked in were very personable and accommodating. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. There was a decorative sheet on the bed that had a stain on it (that was kind of a turn off) but we didn't have to use it anyway. We had some drinks at the bar that evening and Jeff, the bartender, was so very nice and personable as well. The next morning we had the Sunday brunch and there was a very wide variety of food. It was very pricey ($17 per person..highway robbery) and some of the food that was sitting out tasted old and crunchy (the bacon was horrible). The waffle and omelet guy was good, except he kept sitting on the floor when there wasn't a customer...maybe a chair next time? All in all our stay was very good and we had a great time in Pittsburgh. We will be back if we don't stay in the city next time. Thanks! February 4, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by would stay here again but hallways smokey Stayed in a 2 room suite with lovely fireplace. Room clean and spacious. Min from house keeping was very nice and helpful. Breakfast and room service were very good. Food was delicious and service was prompt. Great location in the South Hills area of Pittsburgh. Only negative comment that our non smoking floor absolutely wreaked of smoke. Reported it to staff two days in a row but nothing changed. That is the only reason I am giving the review a good instead of an excellent. It is supposed to be a smoke free hotel and this was important to us in our selection of this hotel for our trip. I was pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness and general atmosphere. We were in town to attend a famiy funeral so had a group and was quite convenient to everywhere we needed to be, i.e, church, restaurants, etc. January 18, 2013

I always stay in the jacuzzi rooms, as my visits are mostly for pleasure; and both of the jacuzzi suites are wonderful. The people at the front desk are very kind and the room service is very good.
