Gave away my room, despite advance reservation and phone call, but good experience once I actually got to stay there.

I made a reservation for 2 nights because I was attending a conference there. I received email confirmation when I made the reservation a few weeks beforehand, as well as another a couple days before the conference. I called on the day of check-in because I knew I would be arriving late and wanted to make sure my room would be held for me. I walked in at 10 pm only to be told that my room for the first night had been given away to someone who had arrived without a reservation. They had no explanation why it had happened, despite two email and one phone confirmation of my reservation, but said they would pay for that night's stay at a "comparable" hotel nearby. The "comparable" hotel was definitely NOT comparable, and the room was "non-smoking" but had clearly been a smoking room for a long time before being re-labeled a "non-smoking" room. The Crown Plaza Minneapolis West said they'd have a room for us the next night. I said I would not be paying for that night's room since the whole purpose of the hotel room--not having to get up really early for the conference--had been negated by the hotel's poor service. The hotel manager said he "couldn't do that", and yet he offered no reparation or explanation for how a triple-confirmed reservation could be simply ignored. I asked to talk to his manager. At that point the manager of the conference center stepped in and FINALLY provided excellent customer service. He apologized, paid for the room, and also paid for dinner and drinks at the hotel that night. The room was beautiful, clean, and comfortable. Dinner at the hotel that night was excellent, and the service at the restaurant and lounge were outstanding. After the initial debacle and poor service, particularly by the hotel manager, I actually had a really excellent stay and have highest praise for the rest of the staff.

Great Facility

I stayed at this property for 4 days for a meeting internal to my organization. The staff was friendly, the room was very nice and the amenities were excellent. If I find my self needing a hotel in this area again, it will definitely be at the Crowne Plaza Minneapolis West.

Comfortable mattress

This property is unique in that it looks as if the hotel was built around a school campus - with brick walls inside. The front-desk person was delightful. The Sunday Brunch was outstanding. So much to choose from, and great tasting too! I would stay again in a heartbeat.
