My stay was very pleasant. The staff are very helpful and courteous.
The rooms are OK as the hotel is rather old and needs a refurbishment but the rooms are quite good.

I was at the plaza on a business trip and booked into one of their standard rooms. The room itself was very tired looking, the bathroom was pretty rough, broken tiles and very old floor. The carpets were quite old and the door to the balcony had lost most of its weather stripping, the wind whipped through the room with the door closed. The minibar was completely empty which was disappointing.
I requested a new room and did not get anywhere with the front staff for over 3 hours. Eventually rooms were changed and the room was much better. The bed and pillows were very nice.
The food was fantastic,but overall I would expect the rooms to be in a bit better shape given the cost.

We found our room extremely comfortable and enjoyed the bar, cafe and restaurant.
The staff were very helpful and friendly and we took advantage of the security guards when venturing outside the hotel grounds alone.

Comfortable property in a well lived in way, not worn but fuzzy. Staff were all (every one) very customer focused and friendly. The location is great for the CBD and the free airport shuttle very efficient. I'll be staying there again next time

I can honestly say I would never again stay at the Crowne PLaza Port Moresby. the staff are unfreindly, the rooms are run down and the club room is terrible.
Im normally a Hoilday Inn person, but I thought I would try the Crowne this time.... not again.
the club lounge is very poorly run. compared to where I stay in Asia, I simply could not rate it or recommend it to anybody.
overall, A very dissapointing stay. back to Holiday Inn

Trevor and his team were great in courtesy. The room service and restaurant stfaff responded promptly. Open the balcony door was delayed when i needed fresh air.

helpful staff organised earlier airport drop off than normal
meals fair priced, plentiful variety and good quality

Stayed at Crowne Plaza for 9 nights mostly for Business. Overall the place is okay although furnitures, carpets, walls and look in general definitely need a revamp. Bed were comfy, I slept well. Location is good. Service was alright, although some days I didn't had any towels and I had to go get some at the reception. Port Moresby is very expensive and Crowne Plaza was also very expensive. Value for money if you compare locally is okay however if you compare to other holiday destination (ex: Cancun, Mexico or Bali, Indonesia) were a 4 star hotel worth often less than 100$ a night, Crowne Plaza rate pretty low.

Breakfast MUST be available at 6am on the dot. Many start work at 7am> I missed breakfast because it was too late on 2 occasions.
needs to be the option to ask for firmer pillows.

I stayed in a Club Room on the 9th Floor. The room was comfortable, as was the bed, but not even close to being a similar standard to the Crowne Plaza Changi Airport (for example).
For the quality of the facilities, the Crowne Plaza in Port Moresby is incredibly over-priced.
However, the service was excellent - I arrived early in the morning (around 10am) after an overnight flight, and while I was not able to check in straight away, Philip was extremely helpful and was able to make a room available for me just after 11am. The service I received from Philip (and the other staff) was excellent and a great credit to their professionalism.

The Hotel staff are very good and attentive. However the building is getting old and much of the equipment (air conditioning, telephone etc.) and rooms need refurbishing.
The food is good, however, the menu needs some changes and upgrading as it is repeated too frequently.

The staff at the Crowne Plaza are the most friendly staff that I have experienced anywhere in the world. If there is a problem with the room (say airconditioning/ television/internet connection) it is dealt with very quickly and effeciently.
The service and experience was (as always) excellent.

employees are very friendly. However, they must be trained in providing timely customer service. waiting time for all services is too long. The operator was unable to provide information to place a local phone call. the front desk took over ten minutes to change some currency. at the end of the process the transaction was not completed.
inconsistency in the housekeeping of the rooms. One night did not clen the room for many guests. this is unacceptable.
pillows are a disaster.

vary good facilities. very firendly staff. however they need to improve in customer service, the staff needs to improve in providing service timely. The club lounge is not always available and had to call the manager every single day for them to to make the computers available. they need to stick to their schedules they are always very slow in responding tot he customer basic needs
also, the pillows must be replaced.
There is on e employee who deserves recognition. His nams is Phillip. This guy will do wahever it takes to handle your concerns. This hotel neeeds more employees like Phillip. he is very dedicated and professional.

Rooms are dated. Room serice menuneeds an overhaul. There is a new Chef in the Rapala restaurant as of Jan 2013 and the food in that restaurant is now fantastic.

Should have realised this place has not changed when the hotel dus decided to leave the International passengers at the airport and just take the domestic. Stood at Jacksons for 3/4 hour waiting to get picked - great start. Even though booked as 2 adults and 2 children there was no roll out bed provided and had to ring housekeeping for that 4 times. Not allowed in club lounge as we had kids so pointless having it. Refused to allow me to park the car outside the front door to collectr luggage.
Hotel is now getting old and needs refurbishing.
With the shortage of hotel rooms in Port Moresby this will not improve for a long while. Other hotels have made the effort why not the Crowne?

Living in PNG is a challenge for most westerners, no Hotel in PNG will match the standards we would expect at home.
The Crowne Plaza in POM is no exception. However when you compare this Hotel with everything else available inluding The Grand Papua, Airways and Ela beach I find I keep coming back here time and time again. I have had some horror stories from other hotels in PNG CBD , disgusting service and theft from other hotels of a similar or higher price so it's a no brainer to use the Crowne for me. Staff are curteous but a little slow, Food is adequate but not exeptional, rooms are comfortable and clean,beds I have found are the best in PNG.
I have had 4 stays in the Grand Papua and each time it was simply put, bad. I could not sleep in the last room I had as it smelled so bad. staff also stole my I pod from the docking station and when I complained they never followed through not even an appology. Ela beach was no better. I had booked an executive room in the new wing. I was asked to wait 2 hours for the room this was at 7pm at night. I got inside and the sheets had not been changed neither hed the towels which were wet and had stains on them. at 11 Pm an asian man walked into my room and said hey why are you in my room. So when you consider these events it's an easy choice to stay at Crowne, I'm a platinum member of the rewrds program so it shows I stay a lot. Best hotel in the CBD by a long way.

I have to stay at this hotel because my company has a contract with them; however, if I had the choice I would spend the night elsewhere. Every time I enter my room, I find that housekeeping has not properly serviced it. The towels have been taken for laundering and have not been replaced, the complimentary toiletries are not there, the milk portions in the fridge are missing, the list goes on. The lift has a mind of its own; beware, you could be stuck mid-floor for minutes. The hotel is shabby and needs to be pulled down and rebuilt from ground up. The carpet is from a bygone era and needs to be replaced. One night I was fast asleep and I woke up to see housekeeping entering my room with fresh towels that were not mine; it was 1030! On a positive note, the staff are typical of what you would expect from any hotel in PNG: very friendly and helpful. I feel I am qualified to make these comments due to the fact that I would spend a quarter of the year in this hotel and I have vast experience staying at other hotels due to the nature of my job as a pilot with an airline.

This was my worst ever experience at any star hotel. The staff are totally disengaged and don't want to be there. Staff are watching TV in the gym at 4.30am. Internet did not work in my room for 2.5 weeks and management were aware of this. I only stay there as this is where I client has an account. I would never stay by choice.
