Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by BusinessTraveler13579 Hotel Restaurant
The hotel room was average and the front desk staff was friendly. I gave this hotel a low rating primarily due to the restaurant in the hotel, Chicago Fire. The service was horrible (slow and the waiter got the bill wrong) and the food was barely average. The service was equally bad the next morning for breakfast. If you stay at this hotel do NOT eat at Chicago Fire.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by maxw Good conference facility
I was here for a national conference and the facility was well-appointed for such a meeting. Food was quite good, and service was excellent. However, my room smelled stale, like it had been a smoking room in the past or something like that. It was a nice room with comfortable beds and seating and an updated bathroom, but the stale odor was a turn-off.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Ethiope Nice hotel
The hotel was a little above average based on my normal hotel experiences. I thought the staff was helpful and the facilities were nice. I liked the bathroom design a lot and the room was very spacious.
There was a sound coming from the air return, I think, that kept me up a bit at night, but I didn't complain about it to the staff and I was usually able to get to sleep eventually.

I arrived from China after a 14 hour + trip. It was early AM when was at the front desk. No one is at the top of their social game after tlhat trip. Mary at the front desk had a room for me when check in early. She made me feel welcome and special. She is the best front dest person I have experienced in some time. travel a lot....she was great.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Ginamunchkin The customer service is laughable
I stayed at the Crowne Plaza in early September for a wedding that took place at that venue. Up arriving at the hotel with two bridesmaids and two groomsmen and therefore ALOT of baggage, we checked at the front desk and asked if we could be brought a cart to bring all of our stuff upstairs. After waiting for about 10 minutes a staff member came outside and told us that there's only 1 cart on the premises and it was currently being used. First of all, only 1 cart for such a big venue? Really? Such poor planning. I live in a condo building in downtown Chicago where there's 104 units and we have 4 carts on hand at ALL times. To make matters worse, the staff member told us there were no available carts and then proceeded to WALK AWAY. He didn't offer us any help with our bags, and to make them EVEN worse one of the bridesmaids with me was 5 months pregnant with twins at the time. So my pregnant friend had to carry ALL of her baggage to her room. Such a disappointment.
My boyfriend and I then decided to leave the hotel and go to a local restaurant while the bridal party got ready for the wedding. Upon checking in we were given a blue ticket that we were told to use to get into and out of the parking garage for free during our overnight stay. Upon leaving the hotel the machine would not take our card and we spent 15 minutes trying to get the card back and to get out of the parking lot.
The next morning I decided to call room service for breakfast since there was a nice brochure of the foods offered in my room on the desk. The brochure indicated that breakfast would be served until 10 a.m. and we called at 9:45, thinking how lucky we were to beat the clock for room service. When we called the front desk we said we would like to order room service and we were quickly interrupted by the staff person on the phone and told that there was no room service that day. Why would they bother putting the brochure, indicating I COULD order room service in my room, when, in fact, I COULD NOT. So we decided to go to the brunch at the downstairs restaurant, which was a sad mistake. The buffet was lacking to say the least. There was not alot of food, most of it was cooked poorly and was barely even warm. Also, the dishes were set out at the END of the line by the syrups and condiments, when they should have been put at the beginning, which would be logical and would improve the flow of traffic.
Finally, upon checking out the front desk person asked me how my stay was. At this point I was not going to complain about any of the above, I just made a personal decision to never go back to this hotel. But since she asked, I told her about the first issue in which my pregnant friend had to carry her own bags upstairs because the staff would not help. The front desk person apologized and said she would bring this issue to her manager. She said they would be contacting me within a week and would comp me one nights stay for my trouble. Shockingly (dripping with sarcasm) the hotel NEVER contacted me and it's not been two months. Thanks for your great customer service and your lies, but I'll stay elsewhere next time.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Sun4fun Comfortable bed and great service
Conference rooms are very cold and nonsmoking room smelled of cig smoke. But hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Two Small exercise rooms but equipment was nice and functional. Indoor Pool was clean, warm and great for kids, pretty short for laps. Shuttle service to and from airport was great. Gift shop very expensive for soda and snacks, etc. but convenient. I would return to this hotel in the future. Internet was free for Priority Club Member!

My stay at the hotel was generally pleasant with a comfortable king size bed and ease of attending my conference. I was somewhat disappointed in the cost of daily internet use while staying in the hotel. Being a convention center I would expect a better offer.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Ahnnav Small rooms and bad showers
We stayed at the hotel the weekend of October 18th and were not impressed. The hotel looks nice from the outside but once you go inside the age of the hotel really shows. The hallway carpets were faded and balding in some places and the lighting wasn't great. The pool and workout areas were nice, there was a lot of equipment to choose from. We checked in around 5pm and when we got to our room we thought we had the wrong room because there were bottles of unopened beer sitting in the hallway outside our room door, they stayed there the rest of the night. The room was fine, a bit cramped but adiquite for our purposes. The bathroom was roomy but dirty, there was women's hair on the floor and in the shower. Also, as soon as you turned on the shower the tub started to fill with water, not a pleasant showering experience at all. Sound also seemed to be an issue, as the other occupants of the room could hear everything that went on in the bathroom and you could also hear hallway noise quiet easily. Not a hotel I would stay at again.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by docdocdoc Solid airport hotel for business
Third time here for business. Consistent and fine for business meetings and such. Downside is few restaurants nearby that are not hotel restaurants or expensive places. The in-house restaurant is fine but limited. All the business functions (internet, meeting rooms, business center etc.) were excellent. A longish walk to the subway to get to downtown or a relatively expensive cab ride. If you need an airport hotel for business this is a fine choice.

We were upgraded and the room was very nice. Our stay was great. The only problem was parking. There was no valet service and parking was way in the back of the building and a long walk for older people. We were comp the parking which was good but still would have like to see a valet service.

There was a bad smell from the time I checked into my room. After a day found something that looked and smelled like cat poo under the nightstand. Informed the front desk staff who were very apologetic and comped my breakfast and parking and sent housekeeping to clean it up right away. But the attitude of the housekeeping person wasn't great. Made it seem like she was doing me a favour by cleaning it up. She sprayed something to get rid of the smell. It helped a bit but the smell was still there when I checked out the next morning.

WOW! I am writing as a very impressed customer. It is not often that I write reviews, but this hotel exceeded our expectations in every aspect. We check in on saturday morning at 6am- yes, 6 am! We had gotten into town very early for an audition downtown, and the front desk was so kind and helpful, got us checked in 9 hrs early so we didn't have to carry our bags all over downtown chicago! Mina is the very sweet and helpful girl at the front desk who helped us. On top of that, after the audition, it was about 12 noon and we had a large cooler as well as an extra coat with us. We are not familiar with Chicago, and I called the hotel to see if they knew of any lockers at train stations etc to leave the bags for the day while we enjoyed Chicago. Mina again was so helpful- she called the Crown Plaza downtown, and directed us street by street to bring our bags to the conceirge at that hotel for the day. I was amazed! She went completely out of her way to help us enjoy our stay. You should be proud to have such helpful and kind employees- every person we met was cheerful and pleasant.

Friendly staff, very clean, the bed are so comfortable I wish I could of stayed forever or taken them home, The bathrooms are very modern. We stayed on the 12th floor and I was kinds of concerned about waiting for elevators. But not at all very fast no waiting.
We also enjoys the breakfast buffet in the cafe the best breakfast I have ever had at a hotel. Thank you, we really enjoyed our stay.
Will be back next year.

We have stayed at the Crown Plaza for several years now as we attend the Windy City Linedance Workshop - I find the accommodations to be PERFECT IN EVERY WAY!!! - I like the fact you have refrigerators in the rooms; I have medication that must be refrigerated. The food in the restaurant is very tasty. Looking forward to staying again

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Dancegirl Disappointing followup on reservations and condition of room
I was very disappointed that the staff had no record that our reservation was changed.
Also, even though we did not want a smoking room, we had no recourse. The odor of the rose fragrance was nauseating. The condition of the air conditioning unit was disgraceful. It was covered in dust and dirt. We did request that it be cleaned and it was that same day. However, the condition should not have existed in the first place.
The restaurant closing at 2pm is unacceptable. The cost of the box lunch, which was not fresh, was unacceptable.
I must say that the housekeeping service was very helpful to us. They gave us whatever we requested in a timely fashion. Also, the waiting staff in the restaurant was also very good.
Bottom line - management dropped the ball.

Had a Great time at the Crowne Plaza dancing with my friends from all over the world. The ballrooms were conveniently located. One suggestion is that the floors be elongated to provide more room for more dancers at Windy City Mania.
Can't imagine staying any other place.

We choose this hotel because of a conference that was being held at Donald E. Stephens Convention Center. This was a perfect location literally right across the street. When we arrived very early in the morning we were able to checkin to a room and also park our car right outside until meetings were over for the day. The staff was extremely accommodating! The room was perfect with a mini refrigerator and small sofa, very comfortable. I definitely would stay here again.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by dbanimate Very Comfortable
I would definitely stay here again because of the comfort level. Not the most gorgeous hotel on the planet, but they get a lot of the little things right...
I read many reviews before booking and agree with what others have posted: Friendly staff, very comfortable bed, nicely cleaned room, quiet pool area (at least when I was there - bonus as I enjoy swimming : ) decent room amenities.
Priorty members get free Wi-fi which is great... I requested a quiet floor so noise levels were not bad - people complained abt carpets being bad in the hallways but they were fine/clean when I was there.
Cons - used food trays in the hallways all the time. Surprised they weren't picked up sooner as the hotel wasn't that busy and it just looks bad.
Bathroom - I can live with it, but much prefer bath area with a glass door rather than a curtain and it was small.
Lobby area is old/dated - maybe this is the carpets people were talking about. Especially old looking around the business center and on the way to the pool.
But those are minor complaints - the main things I care about they did a nice job with and the rates are reasonable.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by RickyJ Good Business Hotel if visiting Rosemont Expo area
This hotel is really convient if visting an Expo at the Roesmont Stephenson center. Finding the parking area, is a bit of a challenge, but I managed OK. I was upgraded to the Club level, but this Club Lounge is not typical level for a Crowne Plaza. There was no attendent, but someone set out chips, snacks, and sodas for visitors. In the morning, still no attendant, but someone set out some coffee, Juice, apples, and muffins for visitors.
The main Bar off the lobby was nice and active in the evening. The staff was friendly and engaging. I did not eat at this hotel, for evening dinner, but ate next door at Gibsons. There are many choices in walking distance.
I planned to stay two nights, but due to an emergency back home I needed to leave unexpectedly and the hotel staff was very kind and helped my speedy departure, and only charged me for one night. Nice people at the reception area. I plan to return.

I was in charge of meeting logistics for my company for a medium sized group.
The meeting room was ready on time, neat and clean.
Lunch food and food and beverage for breaks were plentiful and fresh.
The AV support was friendly and helpful (Don and his group always to a great job!)
I would highly recommend the Crowne Plaza O'Hare for any business function, as a meeting destination, as it provides a convenient location, complete meeting package, all at reasonable rates.
The Sales Staff, and especially my Catering Sales Manager, Sarah, were outstanding. Thank you for helping me put together a successful business meeting!

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by tjwalton Wouldn't Answer the phone
I arrived at Chicago O'Hare at midnight, I tried calling the hotel to arrange where to pick up the hotel shuttle (this was my first time staying overnight near this airport)... the hotel did not pickup their phone for 1 1/2 hours I tried calling priority club and priority club could also not get the hotel on the line. However they would not let me cancel my reservation or I would be charged for it anyway. Finally two hours after I landed the hotel shuttle picked me up, they had one person at the front desk and he proceeded to check in several passengers ( I am a platinum member and was given no respect to acknowledgement) who missed their connections and were staying at the hotel on the airline. At 2:50 am I was given what was supposed to be my room key I proceeded to my room on the 11th floor only to find it was occupied by another guest! I then had to proceed back to the front desk for the person behind the counter to inform me he was sorry he gave me the key and number to the wrong room mine was in fact two stories above that room. I finally arrived to my room at 3:15 AM and I had to be back on the road for my first customer visit at 6:30 AM. I will never stay at this establishment again!
