Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Manager at this hotel will not return your phone calls This is my second stay at this location. The first time was a disaster and there was no hot water in the hotel. I was given a slight discount for this but no resolution. The manager would only accept voicemail that to this day he has never returned my call. In hopes this was not business as usual at this location I tried again. This time The Valet manager was rude; our experience with housekeeping to finally get more towels took forever. We asked for the sheets to be changed on the beds which never happened. Our bill was incorrect with charges for internet that are waived for club members. Once again I mentioned my displeasure to the desk and I was promised a call from the manager.. Which never happened. I have complained to corporate and was directed to the hotel manager. Once again, no responce. May 14, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Aged Debutante beyond her years Probably a belle of the ball when built but now nearing a retirement home. As many have commented, faulty elevators. One broken the entire convention. Staff completely unable to clear check-outs and make rooms available for 350 workshop delegates for on-time check-in. Had to wait around until 5 pm to check into room.They knew we were coming ahead of time, why not have enough staff to prepare for the new customers? No free internet, microwaves, or micro-fridges when many others provide these services. The furniture could use some Olde English furniture polish/coloring to cover the many, many scratch and dent marks on public area furniture. No conciegerge stand. Had to wait on desk clerks for directions, advice, etc. The overall experience was good, but I will house elsewhere and go to conference sessions on foot or by taxi next time. May 13, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Overall impressions After a successful stay in the Crowne Plaza in Austin we elected for more of the same in San Antonio but on this occasion the experience was mixed. The hotel is in a good location and the room and facilities that we used were fine. We booked an Executive Room and were told at the time of booking that a bathrobe and mineral water would be provided. The water was there but no bathrobe which was not an issue but why advertise something that you are not going to provide? One of the lifts was out of action for the duration of our stay but even if all three were working they would have been grossly inadequate for the numbers that were there for the weekend. One of the guests complained to me that she had waited 20 mins to get a lift to the lobby! The staff were generally helpful but those in attendance for breakfast on the Monday were not. The breakfast menu was spartan compared to that in Austin and the service was not up to standard. When the cost of the room, car parking and breakfast are all taken into account the daily rate was does not represent good value for money. May 13, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Terrible elevator First off the staff was outstanding here. They were courteous and helpful with a high degree of promptness. The lobby looks great and the pool area too. Be careful when you are in the hot tub though because the drain on the bottom has a gap that will hurt your toes. The breakfast was the best I've ever had at a hotel very tasty and lots of variety. The rooms were just average but ours had not been fully cleaned and even had under garments from the previous tenants stuck to the curtain. Finally, the worst part is the elevator. Only 2 working elevators for 21 floors. I just don't understand that. We spent an average of 20 minutes for waiting and riding the elevator every time. May 10, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by AWESOME!!!` My husband and I flew into San Antonio for a week vacay from Georgia. We stayed at 2 different locations on the Riverwalk. We absolutely loved the Crowne Plaza best. It was very nicely decorated. The rooms and the hotel was very classy and elegant with updated decor. The beds were awesome and clean. Bathrooms very impressive with marble and granite. HUGE TV, and the view was amazing. We will definitely being staying here again and will recommend it to others. May 9, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Overall stay We were @ the perfect location. Everything was great. Only 2 complaints. No free Internet and the sofa bed was hard. Easy access to so many different things downtown. Walking distance for a lot of must sees. Surprised that you did not have a shuttle service. Overall we would defiantly stay here again. It was nice and quiet too. Staff was very friendly . Great customer service skills from all we were in contact with. See you all next April for Fiesta!!!! May 3, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Good location, fair hotel, not worth the cost The good: 1. Located near the Riverwalk extension along the San Antonio river. You can reach the original Riverwalk with 10-20 minute walks along the river or on city streets. 2. Beds were comfortable. The bad: 1. Only four slow, medium sized elevators in a tall hotel. During our visit one elevator was broken. Excessively long elevator wait times, much longer than any hotel I've ever stayed at. When checking out, we had to ride an up elevator in order to go down to the lobby, as the down elevators get filled by the uppermost floors. 2. Hotel rates are fairly high, but the rooms are only average. 3. Television remote did not work. It took two calls to the front desk and several hours to get it replaced. 4. The swimming pool and hot tub are decent, but nothing fancy. Not up to par for hotels in this price range. 5. Small closet and rest room. April 29, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by CONFUSION Made an Advanced purchase on 3/9/13 with a credit card. I arrived at hotel to check in on 4/19/2013, as I checked in the front desk informed me there was a problem with my credit card, had never been charged. Luckyly I had "extra: money to pay for hotel bill. As manager explained he informed me that credit cards reports are printed 2-3 days after reservation and someone should have noticed that hotel hadnt been payed. I also called on 4/15/2013 to double check that my reservation was still on file and that everything had been payed for, I was told yes, all I needed was my ID. Very inconvinient situation, I was given a discount for 1 night stay, total discount value was about $52. Planning a trip with the family for Seaworld and looking elsewhere for hotels. Crowne Plaza is a beautiful place, but not very efficient. Staff extremely nice, but hugh letdown on this situation. Almost 6 weeks passed before anyone noticed that my credit card had never been processed. Very disappointed..... April 26, 2013
