The staff was absoutely friendly and accommodating. The sushi bar was amazing. The room was spacious. I stayed with 3 of my sisters and it was plenty of room for the four of us. I would definitely stay here again.

crown plaza maintains their rooms and grounds beautifully! recently spent a week there on business and was extremely pleased with the staff and accommodations. I had family visiting for the week while I worked, and they were able to explore San Diego to their hearts content using the hotels free shuttle.

I had the pleasure of staying at the Crown Plaza on 7/25/13, I had to rent 2 rooms which were adjoining rooms, the rooms were great with balcony's . I was kind of leery because of the past reviews that I had read prior to booking, but when I called they assured me that our stay would be great and they were right. I do plan on staying there again with my family on my next visit.

My wife and I stayed for 4 nights and we were very satisfied with our stay. The room was very nice and overlooked the pool area. The room was clean and we did not meet a single staff person that did not greet us with a hello and a smile. The restaurant was nice, food was good and the staff took very good care of us. We will definitely stay at this Hotel again.

Nice hotel. For the most part the staff was friendly and accommodating. The front desk personnel definitely need improvement. No thank you, no "how was your stay?"
Very unwelcoming aura. Probably won't stay here again.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Sheri44 Great location, great service, friendly and attentive staff
During our vacation to San Diego we stayed 3 nights at your hotel and had a very nice stay. Staff were friendly and very helpful and responsive when we had an issue with the air conditioning, which was fixed right away. We had a nice view of the courtyard. Unfortunately, the mattress was very uncomfortable, and we did not sleep well. A hotel of this caliber should be equipped with the best mattresses. On a positive note, our kids loved the pool and jacuzzi. The surroundings were very enticing & enjoyable, e.g. waterfall, landscape. The location was the best as it was close to everything, sea world, old town, the zoo,the beach, restaurants, etc. We felt safe while there. I would definitely stay here again if the mattresses were upgraded.

The room was a nice size and the beds comfortable. The bathroom was generally a little beat up and run down. Also, I think a hotel that charges these rates should have a concierge or front desk people that are more helpful.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Juney12 Excellent Location and Facilities
We stayed at this hotel for 15 nights in total - we had booked a club suite room on the 8th floor as a holiday treat. The hotel met our expectations, great location, good hotel facilities and the staff were very helpful. The hotel is ideally situated in the heart of Mission Valley for shopping, eating out and close by to the attractions of Sea World, the Zoo and old town areas of San Diego. Although the Fashion Valley Transit Centre is close by we would recommend a rental car for the duration of your stay. We would recommend this hotel and will certainly be revisiting.

The staff went above and beyond to make sure we had shuttle service over to Old Town and helped us get to the metro train down to petco park. The center courtyard is beautiful and well maintain and provides a relaxing place to hang by to pool and enjoy a beverage or two.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Facsteach Extremely disappointed
Visiting San Diego for the first time I was hoping for a nice place to stay, that was not the case. I reserved a king size bed but the "helpful" front desk person convinced me I would have a better view if I moved to a room with 2 queens. I don't know how a view of tree limbs is better because that is all we could see. The beds were not comfortable, the room really wasn't very clean, and it is noisy. I walked down the hall about 20 feet to get ice and my feet were black when I got back to the room. This hotel is in desperate need of overall maintenance. I would never stay here again.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by BLD13 Wonderful staff and great location!
For this particular visit we booked our stay through a third party which we usually don't do and at the last minute had to cancel 1 of our 2 rooms due to a medical emergency. Nathan and Michelle were great to work with through this ordeal since we were having difficulty getting in contact with the third party. They were so willing to help us in any way possible to make our stay enjoyable.
We had a wonderful time and would definitely stay at the Crowne Plaza again, our room was well taken care of and the meals we purchased on site were very tasty and reasonably priced for the area.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by harvey70 Not up to Par for A Crown Plaza Brand!
As a Platinum Member I came in looking for an early check in at 2:30PM. I was told at that time that my room would not be ready until normal check in time of 4:00PM. Understandable that they where unable to give an early accommodation. However, 4:00 pm rolled around, not quite ready, 4:15 Pm still not done, 4:30 PM, almost ready: ah 4:45PM here is your key, thank you very much. I was not alone, there where several others going through the same experience.
Concierge Level has Continental Breakfast and Afternoon Happy Hour and Appetizers. Great staff, lousy policy: there are hours for both AM & PM activities, however it is a first come first served bases and when the food allotted is gone, it is gone. Left many a person very upset that there was insufficient food to cover the hours open.
Granted, many a family truly abused the lounge as an evening meal and gobbled up as much as they could as fast as they could. I do not know how you teach your customers not to be abusive to the intent of the featured event.
Pool towels are a disgrace, small and paper thin, not worthy of the Crown Plaza Brand. Landscape is beautiful but definitely not getting maintained well. Room size was great, good amenities, well cleaned daily.
Dining room pricing on the high side. We would have eaten at the hotel more, if pricing was more reasonable. Good location to get to shopping and good restaurants.
Yes I would try here again, hoping someone will work on my suggested comments.

We had a great time here! Hotel has a good tropical theme. I was treated REALLY well with my Priority Club Platinum membership, greeted by the manager, upgraded my room for free to highest level (8th floor) overseeing a beautiful golf course, gave us free drink vouchers for sushi bar, did not charge us for wifi and parking, had free breakfast vouchers, great pictures around hotel, close to beaches, etc.
WE HAD A BLAST!!!

Day 1, when my family & I drove up we were really impressed with the hotel and we felt like we made a great choice on where to stay even though we paid more than what other hotels were charging. We entered the lobby and we were happy with the look and feel, kinda Hawaii like really open & tropical. I went to check in and was greeted with a nice smile and hello. The clerk was really helpful and was able to help me switch my room to a non-handicap room since I booked wrong online. That was really nice of the clerk and Manager on duty that afternoon.
After checking in we drove our car around the back of the hotel near our room Tower and had really easy access to our room. The atmosphere was nice and open and had a really calm tropical feel to it.
Here's where it gets disappointing, we open the door and there's a really bad smell coming from the room almost like an old freezer refrigerator smell. My wife & I looked at each other and did the stink face and quickly turned off the AC and opened the balcony door to air it out. Luckily my wife had a travel Fabreeze spray in our luggage so we sprayed around the room a few times. the room seemed nice but the smell just kept festering in the air almost like all the furniture and carpet were just soaked in this smell for a while and no matter what you couldn't get it out. The rooms decor seemed a little out dated but I thinks it's due to there Tropical theme so it kinda goes with the hotel look. The photos of the room online seem more modern than what we got.
Fast forward to 8:00pm my wife was getting my sons bath ready and when she opened the shower curtain, the floor of the tub was dirty almost like the last person that used it got in with black flip flops & the cleaning staff never cleaned it. I know this because on the 2nd night when we got back from Sea World I went to take a shower and the tub was clean and white.
Fast forward to day two, we had breakfast in the hotel and had great service the food was good and we were in & out in 45 minutes no complaints there. We did our thing at Sea World came back to the hotel around 11-ish after heading to bed let me tell you this, WE HEARD EVERYTHING, the walls must be paper thin, because all night we heard people walking above us, to the sides of us, we heard closet doors open and close creaking drawers people chatting wow I was really surprised how much we heard, luckily we were so tired from our day we fell asleep eventually but it was bad.
Final day: keep in mind that we had to keep spraying Fabreeze, we get ready to leave the hotel and we pack up get to our car and decide lets have breakfast before we head back home. We got to the breakfast area sat down and waited, and waited, and waited, making eye contact with all the waiters and waited, and waited, finally 15 minutes later I told my wife get up we are leaving now. Keep in mind that the hostess was watching us the whole time. As we approached the entrance she asked my wife whats wrong, my wife said we are getting no service, she asked me if she could take our order & I said no that wont be necessary. We got to the check out desk and I said checking out, the clerk never asked me how my stay was and jokingly said "I'm reviewing your parking charges and it's telling me to charge you double because your wearing an LA hat haha" then I replied wow that must be why no one served us breakfast than he laughed handed me my receipt and we never looked back. We did accomplish our goal of going to Sea World and had so much fun, but were disappointed in the room and what I paid for the room as well as the Staff.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Biteme1966 Not what i expected from a Crowne Plaza
Decent location...that's all i can say good about this property. The place is a dump. It's an old property in need of updating and remodeling. I've stayed in no less than a dozen Crowne Plazas across the county and this is absolutely the worse one. There's no advantage shown to Platnuim members...total disappointment. I will NOT return.

Had a great time while staying at the Crowne Plaza hotel. The room was clean and relatively quiet. It was an excellent value to stay there. There were plenty of parking stalls available. The only drawback was there were only three sets of towels for four people, but that happens to me everywhere. The staff was more than helpful to supply the extra sets needed.
I would definitely stay there again.

The reservation people don't know what your layout is. The room reserved for us was pool side unfortunately we could not see the pool because we were behind a plant hedge ..Also the pool towels were a joke don't know why you bothered to provide them. The ice machine in our wing was broke never worked had to walk across to another building. Our over all stay was average probably will look around on our next visit to SanDiego. Because there are lots of average Lodging Places with better rates We have stayed with you numerous times and you are cutting corners . And its obvious

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Shantoledo96 Over priced and star rate is questionable
The hotel overall is a clean and comfortable place to stay. Parking was an issue. Some cars parked taking two or three stalls (this happened all six nights we were there). We have a toddler that fell asleep and had to park quite a distance from our room all nights. The parking lot was very dark and anyone coud get into the halls. You did not have to go through the lobby to get to the elevators to access your room. I felt that this hotel in San Deigo does not live up to the Crown Plaza that we stay at in Anahiem. The motel six next door was just as nice ( looked better than any motel six I have ever seen). The location of this hotel was awesome! We were in close proximity to old town, sea world, Coronado, and other attractions. The staff at the front desk was friendly most of the time.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Chango2 Shockingly Poor
I found my stay at the Crowne Plaza to be shockingly underwhelming: (1) When I first arrived I needed to speak with a bellman/concierage. The desk clerk told me to "see the person outside"...and nobody was "outside", at the arrival point. (2) Guests were not allowed to use hotel-provided carts. (3) Outside of our room, sombody had left dirty dishes from room service. Those dishes remained there for approximately 12 hours. (4) I found two silverfish in my room!!!; area around bedf (I had to look for my wallet that fell) was dirty and dusty. (5) Food in the cafe, for breakfast, was amazingly overpriced, the menu was limited, and the quality was only fair. (6) The entire hotel had a shopworn appearance. (7) Had to pay twelve dollars merely to park in the guest parking. (8) I was told, before my stay, that the hotel is Wi-Fi enabled. I was not told that such a service costs approximately $20.00 per day. (9) The hot tub was apparently dirty or??? I left with a rash/allergy, likely from the disinfecting agent running low or from being too concentrated. Towels at the area that were provided were thin, worn, and replete with holes.(10) Staff members with whom I interacted were friendly...not their fault that the hotel is really sub-par despite polite and energetic staff.
I'll avoid the Crowne Plaza hotels in the future.
