The desk clerk was nice enough to put us in a room away from the activities of the three reunions scheduled during our stay. The room was very nice with a view of the pool area. As always the room was clean and the bed was great. We have always enjoyed staying here. The location is convenient and it is a good value. October 27, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Wedding mother My daughter and I stayed in room 1649 (Parlor room), so clean and comfortable. The Bride and I got a great night sleep and ready for her big day. The room size accommodated 10 of the girls needing to get ready for the wedding, including the makeup and hair stylist. We had room service the morning of the wedding; I have to say it was better than any other Resort or Hotel I have stayed at. The staff was very professional and happy to assist. Room service, Bellmen, restaurant staff, catering staff was all very helpful and professional. Crowne Plaza is a very safe and clean Resort would refer everyone that I come in contact with that is coming to San Diego. October 26, 2013

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Loud, all night neighbors Unfortunately, my stay there was marred by someone at the front desk placing a loud, young couple next to my room who talked and watched TV loudly all night long. In the morning, when they were asleep, I made sure to turn my TV up as loud as I could while I took a shower so they would experience what I did with them. I didn't call the hotel manager and should have but was just annoyed that it happened especially since I paid $139.00 for the room! But at least they didn't charge me parking (which is outrageous anyway!). I loved the other Holiday Inn Expresses I stayed at in Banning, Phoenix and Calexico (although this one had problems too). The best places were the Banning and Phoenix HIE. October 20, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful Retreat - Close to Everything! This hotel was the last (and most pleasant) stop on our honeymoon. After 9 days spent in 7 different hotels, the Crowne Plaza Mission Valley was a very welcome, happy ending! Everything was great, and the staff were generally helpful. The only constructive criticism we have to offer is to encourage the check-in staff to be more genuine when thanking guests for being loyal IHG Rewards Club members. October 18, 2013

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by overall experience arrived 10/4/13 - room smell so bad that we asked for a change....moved to another room, larger, queen murphy bed...very uncomfortable, cigar smoke from outside smoker....10/5 moved to another room 2nd floor ...great! Also charged $80.00 on my debit card......we had no additional charges...why card is charged prior to receiving any incidential from hotel????? Waiting at table for 21 minutes, had to go get server to take our was not overcharged, bad, bad, bad. Have stayed there several times, love hotel and location....terrible experience this last visit. Maid serves great, very pleasant, helpful. October 9, 2013

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Maybe good for a family vacation I'm in San Diego on business often and usually stay at the Holiday Inn - Miramar. This was closer to my meetings, but I wish I had just driven the extra distance. The highway noise made for three miserable nights of sleep - from motorcycles screaming by to trucks down-shifting. The hotel has an Hawaiian theme, which must per-date it being a Crowne Plaza. On my last night there, there was a luau on the property right below my room that was deafening until 9 pm. Never again. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Cowboys game weekend My boyfriend and I stayed here the weekend the cowboys played the chargers. I had reserved a king size room and when I got there they had told me they weren't available for our first night but were for our second night. We still had a king size im gonna go to bed now babe it was just their "compact" room. Basically it was just smaller. We were surprised to find the room was still nice though, by the end of the night we just decided to stay in the initial compact room because it was nice then we had expected and just as comfortable as if we'd be in another room. Everything was clean and the im gonna go to bed now babe was comfortable. Oh and the pillows were amazing! They stayed fluffy no matter how long I laid on them. Overall will gladly come back to this hotel in the future. October 4, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect location This hotel is centrally located for Balboa Park, Sea World, and a visit to the US Midway. The staff are so friendly and helpful from Thomas at the front desk to Bill and Roberto in the restaurant. We used their shuttle service to visit Old Town, perfect. The amenities were very clean, the only disappointment was the presentation of the food and quality. Having stayed at other Crowne Plazas this one needs a little help in the kitchen. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointed! I booked this hotel due to past experiences with this brand. I was totally disappointed! First appearance was this place is really old. I made reservations that were confirmed ( I am also a gold member ) and when I go to check in, they tell me that me and my brother have to share a bed because they ran out of rooms with double beds. Really! So why did I even make a reservation 20 days prior? So when we talked to the manager on duty, they switched the room to what I asked for. This place needs to be on Hotel Impossible because it needs renovation and the staff needs to be retrained! October 2, 2013

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by fair enough i reserved this room because i had a coupon from an event at my work. one thing that bothered me was that on the website it says i can smoke on my balcony but when i arrived they said i couldnt. also the beds were very uncomfortable, i was very tired that night but i could sleep on those beds. when we went down for the breakfast buffet we were looking forward to it, but when we went down i felt it was really over priced for what it was and ended up ordering off the menu. the place was clean my location was quiet and there was plenty of parking, i also liked that it was very close to old town and the mall and seaworld. im not sure if i would stay here again or if i would recomend this location to any of my friends. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by NO Customer Service! I booked a room on the executive suite level. About 11 PM dogs in the room next to us started barking and continued to do so until 1 AM. I called the front desk 4 times and they said they were trying to contact the owners. I was extremely unhappy with my stay and said so upon checkout. The gal at the front desk new of the problem and said because of being overbooked they allowed the dogs on the executive level. I checked out by 7AM and got very little sleep. There was no attempt by your staff to make this right. September 25, 2013

They went out of their way to make my stay wonderful. The bar and little convenience store were very over priced, which is too bad because I would rather stay in house to have a drink then go elsewhere. Overall a very nice place and a great experience. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Old property with new paint Not at all what I expected. A decades old property with outside hallways, multiple buildings and a "hawaiian theme". The room safe is so small that it can only be used to secure a wallet. The A/C unit couldn't be regulated, tub drain was clogged and the internet was so slow that I finally gave up and drove to a Starbucks to get some work done. The granite in the bathroom was nice, but that was the high point of the room. The continental breakfast was not sufficiently stocked to give the guests adequate choices. By 9am the sweet rolls were gone, the croissants were gone, and the only fruit available was unripe honeydew. One unexpected highlight of this property was the Islands Sushi Bar located in the hotel. Great sushi, great prices and a super happy hour. Next trip, I'll be going back to the Indigo Hotel in Downtown San Diego. September 8, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Room price for weddings First of all, let me say that Cindy, the events planner is one of the nicest people I have ever met. She did an exceptional job at making my daughters wedding wonderful. She is kind, easy to speak with and very funny. I would rate her as excellent plus...... The main reason I have any problems with the Crowne Plaza is the manager. We booked rooms under the Weddings Inspiration and were supposed to get a 30% discount. I had to argue with the hotel manager who would not give us or any of our guests the price that was quoted to me and that I passed along to all the guests. In fact, he said he would not ask any of thte guest what wedding they were booked under to apply any type of discount and it was up to me to do it. It was so awful. It took over an hour to get him to commit and he was rude, sarcastic and very unprofessional. Then..... upon checkout, I discovered he did not give the guest any discount and the room cost was almost double what I was quoted. Again, I had to argue with the desk clerk to get one family the discount. I have no idea if all the guests received the discount as not one person was flagged to receive it. September 6, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Outstanding Staff & Service I'll start by letting you know that I am a Manager for one of the world's largest companies; over 72,000 employees in 35 countries. I know outstanding work when I see it, I am generally critical/skeptical and I don't send many reviews like this. A few recommendations I have are 1) to make it a non-smoking property, 2) improve the TV (Channel selection was too limited, TV was small, remote was half-dead) and 3) get together with your neighbors and/or the City and make a sidewalk going to the West so people can walk that way as well as to the mall (East). Other than these, I had an excellent 5 day stay. The Front Desk Staff, Bellman Staff and Housekeeping Staff were particularly friendly, helpful, accommodating and exceeded my expectations. I tend to dress VERY down - in t-shirts and shorts, and yet I was always treated with the utmost respect and consideration. I will be staying at your property many times over the next few years. Thanks again for your wonderful efforts. They did not go unnoticed. September 5, 2013
