Hotel located in less desirable neighborhood - near ferry terminals (if that is your destination) but no immediate on foot destinations. Hotel needs a renoivation. OUtside building, common areas and rooms all look tired, run-down. Graffiti on some elevators. Room was clean but outdated. Front desk staff not very helpful or interested. July 31, 2014

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by awful very rude staff! We booked two rooms three months ago, for some reason we were given two rooms for wheelchairs. When I asked whether there are other options, I was told that they could cancel my reservation. Really? Is this a joke? We travel a lot around the world, often book two rooms, but I have never seen such rudeness with!!! Very disappointed, very much. July 15, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Hotel My experience here was fantastic. Everything worked out well. The only criticism would be about the Hot Tub which is not hot at all. When we checked with engineering, it became obvious that they simply did not want to keep the hot tub hot because of costs. We asked them what was wrong, and the engineer said guess I'll turn up the heat. That meant he raised it from 85 degrees to 88 or 90. A proper Hot Tub should be 102 degrees. Also will charge you $12 per night for refrigerator. June 23, 2014

We had traveled to Long Beach for a special Regional Assembly with International tie in's from New Orleans, San Diego, San Francisco, and other areas, discussing the Kingdom of God using the bible. There were over 8,000 travelers and quite a few guests to work with so I appreciated the friendliness of the staff. It is good to have a sense of humour when things do not go exactly as planned and the staff remained professional but engaging. Thank you. June 20, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great value on LA Harbor Seeking a comfortable hotel close to harbor attractions, we were delighted to find a great value at the Crowne Plaza. The hotel is conveniently located three blocks from the USS Iowa and a short drive from the RMS Queen Mary (both must-see attractions); the courtesy shuttle provided a free ride to and from the Catalina ferry terminal. The front-desk staff was first-rate: well groomed, courteous, professional, Our room was quiet and clean, and the bathroom was well stocked with good-quality towels. The king-size bed was very comfortable, providing a good night's sleep on better-quality sheets and pillows. We also enjoyed a spectacular view of the harbor and bridge from our fifth-story window. We would have preferred to have had the convenience of a refrigerator and microwave in the room, along with a finer restaurant on site and a bit more attention paid to cleanliness in the common areas (e.g., elevators, glass doors). Otherwise, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, which was well worth the price we paid. We received recognition as Gold Elite Rewards Club members, and our Rewards Points were posted promptly. Bed itself was comfortable however the material for the bed sheet is not the usual cotton ones you get at any other hotels and it is uncomfortable. It seemed to be a mixed material. Professional staff and friendly, however did not ask how the stay was during check out. June 10, 2014

When we woke up the next morning, our cruise ship was right outside of our window!! Loved the convenience of the free shuttle. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable and easy access to things Staff was very friendly and helpful. The female driver of the shuttle, did not get her name was excellent. The only two flaws, had been with the young man parking our car, or I should say bringing our car back to us. He drove with the parking brake on, not good for the car. He than handed us someone else's keys, and had my husband and I not noticed this, this would have caused a great deal of unhappiness for both the person who owned those keys, as well as your hotel. But other than that, the room was very clean, and comfortable. The food in the dining room was excellent. When cruising and sailing out of the Port of LA, I would stay again at the Crown Plaza. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Confortable room and helpful staff The only reason we did not have a restful night's sleep was due to the earthquake, it shook our nerves, but the bed was comfortable and room attractive. Brandon at the front desk was very service oriented. The only negative experience was in booking the room. We were a part of a conference and told to ask for the sales department. I left several messages and was never called back. I do not know the details, but our conference was not held in the meeting rooms at the last minute all activities were changed to the USS Iowa, which was not as convenient for all attendees, and the hotel was not able to benefit from the revenue from meals. It was my birthday and my girlfriend even commented the female desk clerk was not very warm and inviting. Hope our next visit will be better. March 31, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Worst Corwne Plaza Ever As a Platinum member I was appalled by this hotel. After waiting for 5-10 minutes for someone to show up at valet ( no one showed up) I decided to go ahead and just walk into the hotel. After that I waited another 15 minutes for someone to even appear at the front desk. Afterwards the receptionist didn't recognize or even say thank you for being a rewards member, nevertheless a platinum member. At this point I felt that it would be pointless to even ask if a room upgrade was available but I went ahead and asked, and she said no. I asked for a high floor and was told that housekeeping had not gotten to all the rooms yet, which I found odd since we checked in after 3PM. The floor we were on and room itself were pitiful. The bedsheets were like plastic, there is no other way to put it. The wallpaper was coming off the walls, the carpet was almost bare, the door-jam was broken, and the carpet in the hall was so bad that there was a lady in a wheel chair that could not even roll by herself and I had to help push her. Additionally finding an outlet in the bedroom to plug a phone charger was impossible, but there were a few on the other side of the room. The only positive was the breakfast, probably one of the best I have had at an IHG property. Overall I hope IHG corporate sends someone to this hotel soon, this hotel does not deserve the honor of holding the name "Crowne Plaza". March 20, 2014

When I book a room at a Crown Plaza, I expect to be treated well and as a Platinum member, I expect even more for the money that I spend annually. This doesn't happen here....Oh well. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Rude staff at the reception desk When we checked-in everything went okay. As I'm a Gold member I usually get vouchers for a free drink. That didn't happen this time so I asked for it. I spent a long day so Injust wanted to relax. A guy at the reception said that they ran out of vouchers so he can't give it to me. I said that is strange. But then he replied if it would make me feel better he can make some and get it deliveredto our room. We said yes and waited but nobody ever came. When we were leaving we called a concierge from the room to get a car and went down to the reception desk to check out. We asked for the manager to complain about the poor customer service. They called a man who was confused why somebody would call him and then he told us he's the chief engineer. Very unprofessional. Doing all this we still needed to wait for our car that we called from the room 15 mins before. The room was very nice. Location is bad amd the neighbourhood is a bit scarry what makes the hotel a little bit overpriced for what you get. March 15, 2014

The location is perfect for cruise departures (and I believe they have special park / cruise rates). My room was nicely sized with a view to the water. The area itself does not seem to offer too much in the way of shops / attractions (within walking distance) - other than a pleasant waterfront stroll - but seemed safe enough. If I was in the area again or had a morning cruise departure, I would have no hesitation in staying here again. March 5, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Great Hotel for a cruise! This hotel is great if you are taking a cruise from San Pedro pier! After we checked in we had no working air conditioner they came did a "fix" so we went out to dinner came back about 10 PM to no working air again! So after sending someone to look at it they moved us to another room. This room was fine, but the wall paper in this bathroom and the other was lifting and needs updating. The shuttle to/from the pier is great but seemed a bit under staffed this time. Wait time for port pick up (20 min) then our car(15 min) was much longer then last April. Even with these things we would stay at this hotel again. March 5, 2014

The entire staff, no matter in what department, was congenial & helpful. Your stay & sail package is phenomenal...such great transfer service to & from the pier to our car; will definitely recommend the package as well as take advantage of it again on a future cruise.
